Dbacks vs Gnats Opening Series thread

Just for discussion sake (i.e. no right or wrong answer) what would you have called Tony Womack? I don't recall how he was with the glove. I just remember no Tony Womack = no W.S. win.

You're right. Chris Owings did not look good. 3-5 against the Giants ace, including sending 2 right back up the middle (BTW- a ball can't be timed up any better than that). He made the two plays that BB mentioned but he missed on the check swing blooper that Didi MIGHT have made (while going...

Dbacks vs Gnats Opening Series thread

That was the story of this game. TWICE McCarthy threw strike 3 to close out an inning, TWICE it wasn't called, and both times the very next pitch resulted in a run. The second time, it should have ended the 7th inning, instead the Giants scored 4. Side note: Oliver Perez looked horrible...

    Yep.

Looks like David Hernandez needs TJ surgery as well.

It was an odd situation. We all know that when he's on his fastball is in the 95-97 mph range. I saw him throw twice this spring, and although he lost weight and got "focused", he barely hit 92. His outings left me confused. David Hernandez throwing 91-92 is David Hernandez just warming up...

Bradley was sent down today BTW.

Didi for Jeff Locke and Tony Sanchez?

Correct. At this point you have to find a team that is VERY thin at SS. Don't know if that's the case with the Pirates, but I think that is the case with the Mets.

Didi for Jeff Locke and Tony Sanchez?

One of the problems with the D-Backs depth is that there is no catcher worth a crap in the system. They thought they solved it with Stryker Trahan, but they've given up on that and moved him to left field.

    Finish the secondary

Yep yep and more yep. LOVE that guy. I'll post it all over ASFN. All of the highlight films I see of him I swear I'm watching A-Dub in his prime. Just faster.

    Jurecki

He's still on 910 from 2pm to 6 pm Arizona time. Remember we don't do DST changes. Not sure what you are seeing on the website, but he's still there. Right now 910 is doing March Madness games.

    Didi to the Mets???

Well, with Jeter retiring in New York I guess it's time to get the next Jeter to Ne.... Oh wait.

    Didi to the Mets???

Didn't read the article but I know three of the D-Backs top scouts were spotted at the Mets game yesterday. Gambo said the guy they are scouting is some minor leaguer named Montero who supposedly is Major League ready. Mets are hurtin at SS.

    Mike Jenkins Visiting Today

That's a very good point. I guess I was looking at the competition coming from the 2nd or 3rd round of the draft, and I was forgetting who was on the roster.

    Mike Jenkins Visiting Today

I hope he does leave without a contract. The guy sucks, plain and simple. Well, at any rate, I guess being signed doesn't necessarily mean opening day roster. We'll see.

Corbin may be done for the year

Totally agree. I've had kids come up to me and say "Hey coach, check out my awesome curveball". I'd tell them AND their parents that no kid that I was managing was going to throw a curve while they were on my team. Parents can be just impossible to deal with. Anything past a fastball/changeup...

Corbin may be done for the year

I concur. I managed a Deer Valley LL Majors team that won the Deer Valley championship, and then went on to defeat Buckeye and Gilbert. As soon as the season was over, some of the players went straight into travel ball. Then Fall Ball. Then simutaneously the school season and travel ball, etc...

Draft, For Those In The Know

4th that emotion. Pryor is an absolute beast. I don't know what adjective goes beyond beast but that's what he is. He is the counter-punch to those two Seattle safeties. If he is there at 20, you get Ted Ginn to sprint the pick to the podium.

    Bradley impresses!

So glad we had to have this early start in Australia (which is the only reason the team was trying to get Corbin to 100 pitches this early in Spring Training). Welcome to the big leagues Mr. Bradley. :bang:

    CB Antiono Cromatie visiting Cardinals

I've watched alot of highlight film on Dennard. Man, does he hold alot. Gets flagged for it too. He's got talent, it just seems he isn't as natural at covering as much as he needs an "assist". FWIW.
