    TJ Warren now

A percentile is any 1% in 100%, not the top 1% although to be accurate I should have said percentiles, with an 's'. 'Upper' doesn't = 'Top', I don't think. There's 301 players in the NBA; the 50th ranked player by PER is in the top 17% of players. The 41st ranked player is in the top 14% of...

    TJ Warren now

For a really general metric, I really like this measure.

    TJ Warren now

I don't buy that my deliberately general generalisation (!) doesn't make sense - one of the best means one of the best (in the upper percentile of a data set, to get specific). I would have thought a metric like: PER x Value of Contract x Length of Contract Remaining Would give a pretty good...

    TJ Warren now

So consider his contract as an added dimension: “Warren’s rank in this league as a player is (arguably) hard to determine; by some metrics he’s a top 10 player by others he’s not, but if you also consider the value of his contract, and length of service due under that contract, dollar for...

The 2017-2018 Around the NBA thread

Minor but boy did I undersell Capella; 6'10" with a 7'3" wingspan and doing what he's doing...The Rockets absolutely have their big three under control with him on board.

The 2017-2018 Around the NBA thread

Yeah my memory isn’t good there - I thought it was sarver who suggested the defensive coach. Still, we had them and we don’t anymore and Sarver could have stepped in somewhere; who honestly doesn’t try harder to keep a 58 wins per season coach. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The 2017-2018 Around the NBA thread

12 and 11 says he’s entirely replaceable. And the suns need a new owner, not new players; how Kerr and MDA, both former suns, have moved on from us to outstanding success (I’ve got the rockets this season to win it all), isn’t a coincidence; we had em, they left ... bravo sarver. Sent from...

The 2017-2018 Around the NBA thread

Two really interesting box scores tonight: 1. Bulls vs Celtics http://www.espn.co.uk/nba/boxscore?gameId=400975142 Statement of the obvious maybe but a good PG makes all the difference in the world for other players to get good shots off. Tatum has been killing it this year, and without...

It was more a shot at the suns than Alex Len, so serviceable rather than break out would have been a better way of putting it... but I hear you all the same, Lumbering Len is looking a bit late to the NBA party.

Nice idea but they literally made the greatest trade of all time and we’re not replicating that any time soon. But we do have two first rounders and some assets so there’s hope, I guess. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Bledsoe to Bucks

So is, IT, dragic, markieff Morris, Marcus Morris...so NOTHING to see here in other words. And related / not related; don’t know if anyone’s following bogdan bogdanovic but he’s looking like the best player in that trade. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Josh Jackson

Easy on there fella! He’s a rookie. Jimmy butler is a 2/3, has short arms, is good defensively and is particularly good at steals. Jackson fits that description perfectly. I’m not comparing jackson to anyone offensively yet because we don’t really know what we have with him there yet...

Don’t know about this - Jackson looks like he likes to dribble a lot more than Marion’s dirt work routine, and their wingspans are miles apart (Marion was a wingspan freak, Jackson’s isn’t) ...they’re both raw but then so are most nba rookies. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

While only an article about Jackson going 1st to Boston, it’s sounds pretty convincing (I vaguely remember reading this at draft time): https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/2715979-boston-celtics-reportedly-considering-josh-jackson-with-no-1-overal-pick.amp.html...

Have to say that when i re-checked out Jackson’s college stats today, I was trying to find a bigger assist number than just 3; like a per 36 5 or something but didn’t see it. Which is weird because I had in my mind that Jackson was projecting as an 18, 10 and 5 sort of guy, but there’s really...

Pure is the word. No question (but there's no choice really, as it turns out). Have you seen him play? I'd bet he goes on to be a 25ppg guy. I thought these guys were comparable dimensions wise (height, wing span) and they're not - Jackson is a short 6'8", Tatum isn't, which might negate...
