    Week 14 Elimination Scenarios

Going into Week 14, the Cardinals can be mathematically eliminated with: ARI loss + SEA win + NYG win/tie DETAILS: With a loss to NE, the best the Cardinals would be able to do is 8-9 and wouldn’t be able to catch PHI/DAL/MIN/SF and the South winner. That leaves two spots and we would have to...

    The Cardinals Are Trash

It looks like those Cardinals lost eight straight at home, the final one being a game in Buffalo against the Giants (where we were the home designation). Looking back a bit further, we lost 13 straight at home from 1942-1945, with that stretch including “home” games in Buffalo and Pittsburgh...

    Reversal of Fortune

Another one, Steelers/Jaguars: Plaxico Burress spikes the ball without being touched. However the spike was lateral and not clearly forward. No whistle, Jaguars pick it up and make a long return. Not a forward pass. Treated like a backwards/lateral pass and thus a live ball.

    Reversal of Fortune

Just looked back on YouTube at a few similar plays and am convinced that, IF EARLY, the play would’ve resulted in it being Arizona ball at the six yardline and NOT a touchback: 2008 Eagles/Cowboys: DeSean Jackson flings the ball *backwards* before he scores. Nobody picks it up and ball is dead...

So Shane, give us a report of the games ebbs and flows

Not Shane either, had a seat in the lower bowl and there were many Cardinals fans in our section. However, all the Raiders fans with whom I interacted were great — before, during, and after the game. I’m guessing many Raiders fans were from out of town as my hotel had tons of them. Never had any...

    Reversal of Fortune

My seat was in the front row immediately on that goalline (you can see me in the replay, 99-Goldberg jersey, white hat) — didn’t have my camera out to record that play — but was watching for him to cross and was immediately concerned that the celebration was premature (still remember Pat Tilley...

Who’s going to Vegas for the game

Will be there. Completes my NFL tour as the 30th and final stadium I have visited.

    Blame Charles Bidwill Jr.

I do believe the early NFL had a bias towards the teams in the larger cities. Bigger crowds, more publicity, and more money would be critical to its survival. Probably why they upheld the Bears/Staleys title of 1921 and the Cardinals in 1925. Still, Pottsville was warned not to play the game...

    Blame Charles Bidwill Jr.

The 1947 championship was under the leadership of Michael Bidwill’s grandmother, Violet, so the Bidwill family has won one title. Admittedly, it has been awhile!

    Blame Charles Bidwill Jr.

Only the current Pennsylvania teams voted to give the championship to Pottsville — probably out of geographic loyalty. I believe it was the Steelers who claimed a flimsy connection to the Frankford franchise and tried to rescind “their” protest from many years ago (after Frankford folded, the...

    Blame Charles Bidwill Jr.

There are a few errors in the NYT article. The NFL clearly prohibited Pottsville from playing the game against the former college all-stars. Money was FAR more important than any trophy and the Frankford Yellow Jackets had every right to protest. Their gate took a massive hit when the...

    Blame Charles Bidwill Jr.

Thank you — I do still run it! It is kept alive mostly as a repository of historical information, though I give it token updates throughout the season and still run a picks competition through it. It survives as a relic from the mid-1990s!

    Blame Charles Bidwill Jr.

No, Pottsville broke the rules. They get nothing. One the eve of the NFCCG in Charlotte, I asked Michael Bidwill if he would make any comments about Pottsville at the trophy ceremony should we advance to the Super Bowl. He scoffed at the notion. I am aware of what happened the following...

    2022 schedule

Indeed! It took me over 20 years to get this far. Even if I had gone to every Cardinals road game since 1920, the Broncos cigar would still remain! The cigars do get changed out, and I can always print new labels for when logos change. Nonetheless, as the number remaining dwindles, I will...

    We play LA

I think the Vikings’ loss was worse. Started the season 6-0 I believe, but then lost to all four teams who ended up tied with the worst record at 4-12. That last game also had a successful onside kick and three fourth-down conversions in the final two drives, if memory serves me right.

    2022 schedule

I have a box which had 32 cigars, each labeled with a team’s logo; if I see the Cardinals win at that team, in-person, it gets smoked. 17 down, 15 to go — with three road opportunities (MIN/DEN/ATL) for me next year. Will also try to make the game in Vegas to complete all 30 current stadiums.

    Chargers vs Raiders

Yeah, at CIN instead of KC. Looks like they’re the 5-seed instead of the 7-seed.

    Chargers vs Raiders

Not if it gets blocked and returned for a TD. Not likely, but no way you lose if the clock runs out without a kick.

    Chargers vs Raiders

The Raiders do improve their seeding with the win vs the tie.

    Chargers vs Raiders

The smart play was still to let the clock run out after the first down. The game ends and you are in. With the FG attempt, a block can cause you to lose.
  21. TheCardinal

    Chargers vs Raiders

Chargers’ time out didn’t change anything. It was under 0:40, play clock was almost out. Raiders should’ve still let it run out after the next play.

    Chargers vs Raiders

    Terrible

    Chargers vs Raiders

Last play, boys. Don’t ruin it!

    Chargers vs Raiders

NOW!! Run up the middle. Chargers would be stupid to call a timeout. If no timeout, that’s your signal.
