The 2018-2019 Around the NBA thread

Payne is worth a look... Asst/to 2.5 this year and 3.1 last year. 7 ast/36 last year. His 3pt shooting fell off this year but a change scenery could help with that. We have a roster spot...

    Nuggets @ Suns 12-29-18

I just thought of new explaination for Sarver meddling in the Buddenholzer fiasco - the reason Sarver went behind McD back is because he offered Bud the GM job and the coaching job. That would be so like Sarver to do that - he's show people he was capable of playing in the big leagues and save...

Thunder @ Suns 12-28-18 game thread

Well, it might be that he's just heaing too much about his mistakes. He does learn things over time at his own pace. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if it helped to dial it back correcting him repeatedly. Sometimes your subconscious digs in its heels when it hears too much. Maybe an approach...

    Dennis Smith Jr

He's not playing off the ball as much as we would like. If we were to get DSJr I would imagine the plan is to move Book off the ball to a considerable extent and have Smith running the offense. It might not be a good plan if the two of them are not happy the way it works out. That would be my...

The 2018-2019 Around the NBA thread

Hou being called Phx midwest I'm sure is a reference to all the ex-Suns on their roster PJ, Chriss, House, Gerald Green, Knight, and you could almost count Rivers

2018-19 Season | Point Guard Discussion

Who is this guy posing as slinslin? Ten posts in a row without denouncing anyone as an idiot... not to mention, fairly rational.

Trevor Ariza to Washington for Kelly Oubre and Austin Rivers.

I generally agree with the importance of chemistry but I hope everyone remembers this Magic game - we scored only four points in OT and won because our D was good. Everyone loves offense and teams pay outrageous prices for top offensive players What it means is that defense costs less...

The 2018-2019 Around the NBA thread

The star of the game was Ivica Zubac = 9/10 from the field and 11 boarrds. BPM of +25 Why they don't play him has always baffled me... he puts up decent stats when he does play. Maybe he's fragile in some way. This is his 3rd year of twiddling his thumbs on the bench, and his usage is...

2018-19 Season | Point Guard Discussion

Other years perhaps but Middleton is not even up to average for SFs in offensive effeciency this year. FG% is off 5 pctage pts and TO are up... Both Bled and Brogdan have got their off eff well above average this year.

How Good is the Trio of Booker, Warren, and Ayton?

That team lacked the killer instrict and I thought it likely came from the coach. I rather enjoyed seeing them run their textbook Princeton offense. Of course they did kill the Suns a time or two.

Ayton's Development at the Quarter Mark of 2018-2019 Season

I think this quite likely a good part of it. May well be the same thing on D - he'd be browbeating Ayton if he kept after everything he did wrong. You don't really want to make him think too much, to be very valuable the moves have to become instinctive or first reaction.

How Good is the Trio of Booker, Warren, and Ayton?

I think Michael Adams was the little guard. The only years I have for the quartet you mentioned was 88-89 and 89-90 and their numbers were: Davis 15.6, Adams 18.5, Lever 19.9, English 26.5 Adams 15.5, Davis 17.5, English 17.9, Lever 18.3

    Suns defy conventional wisdom?

Too late, I already have great expectations for him.

How Good is the Trio of Booker, Warren, and Ayton?

I can tell you the top 3 scorers for any team back to the 1988-1989 season For instance Parish, Bird, McKale in 88-89 combined for 60.4 points per game.

    Suns @ Nets 12-23- 18

IMO, we should make life on the offensive end as easy for Ayton as possible. Set him up in a medium post - FT line or elbow. He's very accurate from there and he's two strides from a dunk - wouldn't even need a dribble if he starts on the correct foot. Just standing there, he's a dual threat...

    Suns @ Wizards 12-22-18

This game should be a terrific learning experience for the team and for Igor in particular. He needs to have about three plays for crunch time which use Booker as a decoy - one setting up each of Warren, Ayton, and Oubre for the shot. Warren and Oubre are flexible enough that even if the...

    Suns defy conventional wisdom?

Suns have had isolated good players but they've never had an good overall defensive team... believe I've been watching for it... watching and waiting.

    Suns @ Celtics 12-19-18

Oh, c'mon Chap, there's not a lot of hate in here. Losing gets us all a bit testy but there's some good humor about, too. We haven't had too many of those long drawn out verbal battles, which tire everyone out.
  19. E

    Suns @ Celtics 12-19-18

It just seemed like many posters because 1Sun was rabid about firing Igor immediately - to the tune of about a dozeno posts per day. Not many people were leaping to Igor's defense. There were others who were regularly posting specific complaints about his coaching. Another fairly popular...

Evaluating James Jones as acting GM

I recall reading a short blurb that NAZ Suns have acquired Canaan, no idea what it portends for the main team.

    Jabari Parker?

Beasley set his personal worst playing for Phoenix. Heck there are years when he was only 10 or 15 percent below average.
  22. E

    Kelly Oubre Jr.

The deal was about dumping Ariza. Whatever Oubre brings is a bonus. And his D and energy means that he fits right in with how the team has been playing for the last 3 games. Too bad he's not a PF, but I can live with small ball at this juncture. I was worried about Rivers being a net...

Sources: Lakers trying to acquire Suns forward Trevor Ariza in a three-team deal

If there truly are a half dozen teams after him, a quick deal wouldn't be surprising.

    Suns sign Eric Moreland

Not a ton of stats on him (900 total minutes) but they certainly suggest that he plays hard and doesn't do much stupid stuff - like shoot outside his range or throw the ball away. He has a asst/TO ratio of 1.9 which is excellent for a big. 2.3 blocks per 36 indicates good rim protection...
