    This is the position current ownership will be in going forward, with having to overpay 2nd tier free agents a la Joe Johnson or Tom Gugliotta. With that said, comparing this to an Amare extension is apples to oranges because of the difference between pre & post CBA contracts.

    Thought the same thing. Really like Markieff and think he complements Gortat well enough to make PF not as much of a priority. What I'd like to do is clear out this logjam of mediocrity at our SG/SF positions, sign Batum and draft BPA.

    Word is that Lopez just isn't passionate about basketball. Between that and the nagging back injuries its easy to see why the team is ready to move on. He's a cheap serviceable backup, but the Suns shouldn't hesitate to move him if they get a decent offer for him.
