Question: Now that the Lakers won the game, I wonder if the media will say they are in the Finals again. Because after the loss in game one, they were out of the playoffs and the Rockets were in the finals.

Just wondering when these hypothetical finals ever start, and if the Cavs will ever actually play an NBA franchise in that solar system, instead of all the D2 college teams in the east they square off against.

Yeah, it's hard to believe how unlucky the Lakers are. Come to think of it, I can't think of another major sports team that has had to overcome so much adversity.

I read the League is reviewing the play and contemplating a suspension for Artest with his brutal attack on Kobe's elbow with his throat.

Artest's throat slashing gesture might get him fined or suspended with his track record. Nothing else was really that bad. And I can pretty much guarantee at this point that an Artest meltdown is going to cost him team a game in this series.

Fisher suspended one game

Kobe gets nothing.

One thing you can always count on is the NBA getting it wrong each and every time.

I haven't seen anything regarding Artest being suspended.

Kobe was awarded a Flagrant One Foul for the elbow to Artest.

http://www.nba.com/2009/news/05/07/suspensions/index.html

This is great. However, by assessing a flagrant for Bryant's elbowing of Artest, doesn't that shine a spotlight on the b.s. call on Artest in that play? The ref should be suspended a game.

I love that, so far, Artest hasn't been punished for sticking up for himself.

Oh and it appears that Derek Fisher is a punk or an idiot or both.

Kobe's elbow and how it was anything more than a basketball play is simply idiotic.

sorry donald, not buying it. a purposefully aimed elbow to the throat is not a "basketball play." all elbows thrown to the neck/head region should be a suspension. period. howard, rondo, and yes, even kobe. this postseason is really showing, yet again, how the league office INTERPRETS their rules as they see fit.

What the hell happened to Fish? Dude was a true pro and then does crap like this...

phil jackson happened. no one wants to admit it, but phil loves his thugs. he takes mild mannered players and turns them into thugs. remember rick fox? never considered dirty in boston, then at the tail end of his career - WHAM! - thug. horry? same school. hell, remember phil was sanctuary for rodman back in the day. not at all surprised to see one of the current lakers go thug.

Oh good grief.. And you wonder why people hate the lakers.. Isnt because of the lakers team per se.. But the damn laker fans acting in this manner.. You guys act like your entitled to something.. I havent watched any playoff basketball.. But when LeBron gets to the Finals, I have to watch him get his first title.. I just hope its against the lakers so I can see the misery on their fans faces again..

Nailed it !!!!

For Kobe to get any sort of suspension, it would have to be something completely conspicuous. The league will always give him the benefit of the doubt. He is slick and sly about his fouls because he knows he is protected from the officiating. The only time I ever hear of him getting punished is if he is yelling at the refs or that time he flailed his arms into Manu's face.

Now if that were Luke Walton, he would be suspended.

It wasn't even NEAR the throat. Haven't you seen the multitude of replays and the reverse angle? And isn't it amazing how Battier catches a bow and gets four stitches, but the phantom throat elbow doesn't cause Ron to even catch his breath, and instead it makes his throat start yapping at the ref and at Kobe? Dude lied about the throat, video backs it up.

If Kobe had popped him in the neck, he'd be suspended...the league is pretty clear on that. He put the bow right into the R in rockets, and Bad Ron came rushing out. I actually love Ron Artest, but he is always inches away from blowing a game for his team. I'd take him in a heartbeat on the Lakers though.

Lied? I know your're a fanboy, but that's just dumb. How can you say with certainty that his arm didn't slide up a few inches upon contact or the upper part of his arm didn't contact the neck. It looks pretty clear in this photo that contact to the neck was made even it wasn't directly the elbow. Man, poor Kobe... everyone is always lying about him.. what a victim.

All the people complaining about Kobe getting special treatment are funny. Kobe has been suspended multiple times over the years for throwing elbows etc. Just sour grapes.

LOL. Looking at that photo, it's Artest who is elbowing Kobe in the throat.

Artest fouls him with the left leg and his left arm. Elbow hits hit chest.

The special treatment is that he doesn't get suspended enough.

Wow, don't know what "pretty clear" means in your book, but I think "mud" would fit that definition.

Artest's reaction wasn't of someone who got hit in the neck...unless it was on 24 where everyone takes a shot in the neck and then saves the world in a couple of hours.
