Holy smokes! Lakers on a 3 game win streak! Are they trying to lose their pick this year?

Ok this is getting serious. We have two games left...both winnable. Booker and Warren are killing it...our tank included. They can't contain their talent anymore.... It's just too much! ;) So, I always prided myself on a ruthless tank but how do we sit these guys?? I'm waivering here..:help:

You sit them both for both games, no debate

I think you could sit one each game. We do have 1 game on the Lakers so we have some flexibility. If we win our next game then we need to go full tank the following game. Have Len play PG.

Thanks I needed to hear that!

McD...time to be the bad guy....you know what to do!

And Watson...You WILL follow orders.
As much as losing these games are good for the tank there is no way they will rest those two (barring injuries). This hasn't just been about tanking, but about player development. Though I suppose you could argue that Booker and Warren aren't exactly going to develop a whole lot in those 2 games, but man would those games be completely unwatchable...

Yeah, they got all of the previous picks and like I said in the original post they had the right to swap their 2017 pick, maybe you skimmed over that. It was a gamble on Brooklyn's part but they do have their pick every other year and they still got a pick this year, it's just not their own. Had they won a title I'm sure this wouldn't be an issue. We got 2 picks from Miami, in 2018 and 2020. There is the Stepian rule to prevent a team from trading consecutive picks already and adding any more to that rule probably wouldn't be ok'd by owners. Draft picks are becoming more valuable as time goes on and I don't think anyone predicted the Nets would be cellar dwellars when that deal was made.

I can't see it in your previous post but what you're saying is the Brooklyn 2014 pick became 2017?

And you don't buy teams, you build them.

The Nets traded Boston their 2014, 2016, and 2018 1st round picks. They also included the option for Boston to swap picks in 2017, this year. The Nets have a 1st rounder this year but it'll be where Boston's pick lands which will be like 25th or 26th. Boston would be dumb not to utilize their right to swap, I mean either #1, #2, or #3 or their own pick at #24 is a no brainer.

So they got Brooklyn's 14, 16 and 18 pick AND they got the right to swap first rounders in 2017?

OMG that is insane.

I dunno...How do we chance our tank at the most crucial point? I think it's borderline gutless stupidity if we blow it now. But I have to say...To sit them both now is making me nauseous. It's like punishing them for succeeding.

I thought this was going to be easier...I still say BENCH EM! I don't even care about a cover story. We got all summer to forget this...:nono:

I really hope the Lakers win at least one more game. That would at least mean worst case scenario we win the next two and tie for 2nd worst or we we lose one more and get the 2nd spot by ourselves.

GSW have clinched home court for the playoffs and the Lakers are their final opponent. If they lose the two games prior to that they might want a good tune up before starting the playoffs but otherwise they well may rest everyone they can against the Lakers, while dealing a small blow to their draft hopes.

The Suns could sit Warren for one of the games or even both and no one would give it much thought - and Warren can always use some rest. Sit Booker and it would be considered a tanking move, yet TJ's efficient scoring is more likely to win us a game than Book's volume shooting.

Yeah but you know what? Sitting Bledsoe (and Chandler) is also a blatant tanking move. Might as well go all in and embrace the tank and all the stinkiness that comes with it. It's too late to play innocent now. Booker needs to sit too... He's too valuable to "risk".

Sitting Bledsoe and Chandler are tanking moves but justifiable because we're sitting them to tank and get the youngsters more playing time. Chandler compared it to when he was a rookie the Bulls did a similar thing by sitting Brad Miller. Sitting players who are on their rookie contracts who are developing is a different thing and I could see the Lakers complaining about it, not that anything would be done though.

There's got to be a D-Leaguer out there worth taking a look at for the next couple of games though. We should be able to find someone who'll take a 10 day contract who'll audition for the team. Hell, sign Lavar Ball, let's see what he's got.
