2006 Playoffs Suns/Lakers - Remembering the good old days

Since this season has been so miserable for us, I've spent a lot of time watching old games.

I thought I'd share one of them with you guys. This is Game 5 of the series between the Suns and the Lakers in 2006, that I've just finished uploading to youtube.

Reasons to watch:
SSOL at its finest hour
The clothesline of Kobe
Boris Diaw: 25 points, 10 rebounds, 9 assists
Lakers get demolished.

All we have left to enjoy are old games now.

Maybe reliving this will help take away some of the pain from last night's game.

All it reminds me of is that it took seven games to beat a team that started Luke Walton, Smush Parker, and Kwame Brown.

Sorry, but I'm not going to be nostalgic over the underachieving D'Antoni Era.

You suck. That was an awesome series. The Suns are the first team ever to win 5 games in a series. Plus Tim Donaghy was there for one of the two losses.

If you're not into that whole "blame the refs" then just consider the fact that this team was predicted by many to barely make the playoffs that year, so the fact that they were even in a position to get upset by the horrible Lakers was pretty impressive.

Those were the days. I remember watching that year's playoffs and going nuts at all the close games we managed to pull out. Good times, those were.

Game 6 is up. One of the best basketball games I've ever seen. And one of the most satisfying wins as a Suns fan.

Lots of videos this time, so I should probably link them instead.

Ernie: "What would keep the Lakers from finishing things off tonight?"
Barkley: "An Earthquake.."

:D

I'd actually recommend that you don't click HQ because some of the videos are too choppy in HQ. Seems to be some kind of youtube glitch for all recently uploaded videos.

After losing Joe and Amare the previous season and Kurt getting injured that season you really have to give the GM credit for adding guys like JR, Bell, Diaw and TT. At least the Suns still have a good GM who can make moves like that.

Two things come to mind seeing this game again:

1. Steve Nash definitely deserved his mvp's

2. We traded away the wrong PF

Like Barkley said at the end, "If you don't think Nash deserved to win MVP, then you don't watch enough basketball"

I agree with both.

Game 7 is up. As I said in the description, it's hard to believe that this was just 3 years ago.

What an intro. There's no way I wasn't putting that on there.

This is even more of a demolition than I remembered it being. I thought it was like Game 5 where it was kind of close in the first half. It's nothing like Game 5.

5 videos before and 5 videos after halftime. One postgame video.
