Joe, what will Fitz's cap number be in years 2, 3, and 4 of his new deal?

I have no clue what his base salaries will be yet. but here is a best guess based on the following. Note that the option bonus only gets pro ratted over the last 3 years of the deal and not inculded for this season. His last years base salary I no for sure will be 7 Mill becuase he is going to make 33 Mill the first 4 years of the deal meaning a 7 Mill base salary the last season. We also now the first year base salary of 2 Mill so we can come to the conclusion that in years 2010 and 2009 the base salaries will total about 11 Mill combined. 20 Mill gauranteed, 7 Mill 2011 salary, 2 Mill 2008 base salary = 29 Mill minus 40 Mill = 11 Mill base salary left to be divided between years 2 and 3.

2009 - 2 Mill remaining proratted signing bonus from original deal + 3.75 proratted signing bonus from this deal, 1.67 Mill proratted option bonus, 5.5 Mill base salary = 12.92 Mill in bonuses
2010 - 3.75 proratted signing bonus from this deal, 1.67 Mill proratted option bonus, 5.5 Mill base salary = 10.42 Mill in bonuses
2011 - 3.75 proratted signing bonus from this deal, 1.67 Mill proratted option bonus = 5.42 Mill in bonuses plus 7 Mill base salary = 12.42 Mill.

That along with his 2008 cap hit come out to be about 44 Mill (40 Mill new deal + 4 mill left on old deal).

I am not sure I even understand that jibberish I just typed.

If true, Tampa Bay is going to have to find a way to spend 22 million to reach the salary cap floor for this season. Even if you take away a generous 3 mill for the draft that is still a ton of money. I'm guessing they will be restructuring contracts to EAT cap space?

They should hire Graves to do this!

I am thinking that they have taken out the rookie salaries for the upcomming draft and thats how we only have 310K. If you add that 310K to the rookie pool you should get around the same as Joeshmo's figures.

I agree. I think it's after the rookie pool money has been deducted.

Cant be becuase rookie pool isnt calculated until after the draft and trades are included. If he projected rookie pools then I think he would have stated that but he didnt. We could have very well been at 300K, my spreadsheet isnt perfect so I could easily see a 2 Mill swing in one direction or another. I have a lot of the info needed to get this spreadsheet as accurate as possible but I dont have 100% of the info probably about 95%, which makes me sad becuase I should be giving 110%.:D

Is the 11.7 mil up to date as far as you know Joe?

It doesn't seem that Morey cut and Hodel addition is tabulated, nor, it would seem - has he subtracted the amount necessary to cover the draft. Graves has been coy about how much the team actually has, but says they'll be adding players in the weeks to come; then the draft; UDFA's, etc.

Final 53 man roster salary cap spreadsheet.

Note that it doesnt look as pretty as the old one. I lost all of my info on my old hard drive so until I reformat things for 2009 this is the best I can do for now. Also since I lost info on my hard drive there are a few things missing and I am probably off 1-2 Mill less then what the total gives. I know I missing a few small bonuses and some dead cap space. Which means the total salary cap space left is a best case scenerio. We are probably closer to a little just under 6 Mill left. We were sitting at just under 3 Mill but some younger guys were kept in favor of some veterans who becuase of their veteran status cost double what the younger guys cost. Vets such as Butler, Stewart, Moore, Tafoya. Also gave the final years of each players contract as well for you guys to digest if you will and start your ideas for 2009 if you wish.

Don't forget they still have Dansby and Wilson to deal with, and of course, Dockett continues to say he wants more money...

Dockett has to wait. Only has had one good season and has more years left on his contract than Q. Dansby cant sign a new deal that effects this years cap so he is moot too. Wilson I agree. I think they could do both.

Dockett isn't getting squat. Dansby won't sign until after the season unless we want to lose the tag for the number of years he signs for. Wilson and Boldin will be the players that they negotiate with first and foremost
