Not sure why Gibson didn't let him finish

113 pitches through 8.

My guess is the team doesnt want his arm taxed for when/if we clinch the division. It'd be nice if it were in the bag now so we can give him a break in the rotation.

Good points. We need him as fresh as possible for the, the, the, playoffs.

We want Atlanta to not make the playoffs because if they don't, the Diamondbacks avoid the Phillies in the first round.

Wow. Broken bat homerun... Incredible.

They were marveling over it on ESPN and MLBnet today too. Everyone talked about how strong Upton is. I was pleased by the amount of national love we got after the game especially considering we were up agianst Rivera breaking the all time saves record and MNF.

The people who were the LEAST impressed by it were are own garbage announcing team Sutton and Grace. Grace just kept laughing about it and implying it was a fluke or luck, then he said it should be an out 20 times and Sutton had nothing to say about it except; "That just BARELY got out of here."

We went to the game so I didn't have to endure it live but I watched the replay of the broadcast on FSAZ and it was the same old story from the worst announcing team in the MLB (and probably the minors)...

Kindof like how during the 7th and 8th innings when Kennedy was striking out 6 in a row they were busy chatting with Jody Jackson, chatting about the Red Sox and chatting how great the Pirates pitching had been up to that point.

I've never seen such a GREAT outing by a starting pitcher downplayed so much by THE HOME ANNOUNCERS. They didn't really get on board with how well Kennedy was pitching until 1 out into the 8th.

Are there any announcers in all of sports that you ever really feel enriched by listening to? I find some of them to be bearable, but I have never actually been entertained by anyone, except Dan Majerle on occasion. Most of the time, I'll just watch sports without the commentary.

I agree, but Grace and Sutton are way worse than average IMO.

After Kennedy struck out his 5th batter in a row Mark Grace LITERALLY said; "Is that 5 in a row?"

Yeah Mark it is, there is a baseball game going on down there incase you didn't notice. Jackass

I think it was a rhetorical question.

I've been quite vocal about how unprofessional they are. Muting the TV sound and listening to the game on KTAR-AM is a tremendous improvement, whether Greg Schulte or Jeff Munn is doing the play-by-play.

Part of the blame goes to the TV director. The "truck" zeros in on something, usually trivial like a fan in the stands, and shows it over and over, playing into Sutton and Grace's tendency to repeat what they think for the rest of the game.

As long as the games are on Fox, I think we are stuck with Sutton and Grace, the two crew-cutted religious-right extremists, telling us how players are blessed. It just doesn't belong in a generic baseball telecast.

Sutton who makes every sentence about himself and Grace who plays the role of the drunken adolescent buffoon -- the novelty has worn off.

This isn't the first time that Hernandez has been hit when he was brought in with the D'backs behind. I can't remember if it's happened to Putz as well.

Perhaps our setup and closer shouldn't be used other than protecting a lead. It seems to be a letdown otherwise.

As great as they have been with the game on the line, perhaps a natural drop in intensity is to be expected when our hitters haven't given us the lead by the time they come in.

Also, it is amazing how Ryan Roberts comes through during the 7th and 8th innings. Even when he doesn't start, he should be brought in to play the 7th inning on, especially if we are behind.

Good crowd last night.

Good defense by the Pirates - the diving catch on Goldie in the first saved two runs.

Dbacks have stolen 4 bases, one caught stealing on Pitt catcher Matt Pagnozzi, who is from Miami, AZ.

Was another fun game. Another great (clutch) series win by the Dbacks.

Gotta love this guy.
