Nash/#13 for Flynn/fillers/#2?

We could take back Flynn, Ridnour, and one of Webster or Johnson.

I wonder if that's a lot, but it's the only way to make the deal work. We could take back just Flynn and one of the following three, but the problem with that is that it uses up their cap space. By making the numbers straight, MIN retains their cap space. Unfortunately, we don't have any other assets to couple with Nash to make a fair trade, so if they want Nash, they gotta dig deep....

The same way Nash mentored Dragic? Player mentoring is overrated IMO. Playing time and coaching is much more effective. Even if Minny wants Steve and blew our doors off with an offer, management would seek Steve's approval. We wouldn't send the "sun, moon, and stars" of our franchise, as Babby characterized Nash, to Minnesota unless Steve wanted to go. At this point in his career, I can't imagine why he would want to.

I would Trade Marcin Gortat for #2, if Derrick Williams was on the board... I think that would work straight up and the Suns could select Nikola Vucevic at #13 for example. or Jonas Valenciunas, Donatas Motiejunas, etc.

Channing Frye could be another veteran bigman and there'd be some stretch 4's to replace him at #13, if the Suns could keep that Pick at all... JaJuan Johnson, Justin Harper, Marcus Morris, Trey Thompkins, etc.

No, no no. Gortat should not be traded. Good news is that, as Eric pointed out, Gortat makes no sense for the Wolves because they already have Kevin Love. Frye would make more sense for the Wolves.

I like Flynn, and I would love to get Tolliver and/or Pekovic.

Outside of Gortat and Dudley, I'd be willing to trade anyone.

Maybe a 3 way trade?

Mavs get Nash, Lopez

Timberwolves get Kidd, Haywood

Suns get #2, fillers

I think Gortat makes way more sense for Minnesota than Frye.

Kevin Love is more of a shooter (great 3pt shooter btw) while Gortat is more of a post player. Frye and Love's offense are both the same so I think Minny is going for more of a banger inside that can protect the paint.

I'd def. prefer it be Frye but we'll find out sooner or later... Gortat and Frye are my 2 favorite players, currently. Derrick Williams would (more than likely) be my all-time favorite player for the Suns, which is Marion at the moment.

Marcin Gortat and Derrick Williams would be as good as 4/5 as I've seen from the Suns. I did like O'Neal/Stat; McDyess/Cliff Robinson; but O'Neal was on decline and the other option lasted one year and Gortat is more of a true Center.

Bruce Cooper throws out the idea of the Suns doing a trade with Toronto sending them Lopez and next year's first round pick so the Suns can draft Biyombo at #5 and Klay Thompson at #13. I'd do the trade but I'm not sure Toronto would. See blog at azcentral.

Klay Thompson is garbage.

Alec Burks>Thompson
Marshon Brooks>Thompson
Jordan Hamilton>Thompson

There will be much better options for SG than Thompson.

Derrick Williams needs to be a 3, not a 4.

Burks would be sweet at #13.

At the 4 he can drive on any bigman out there and no one is going to contest his 3PT ability with that penetration skills... who could slow him down running the pick n roll at the 4?? Rebounds well enough (8.3) and has good enough size (6'9 and 248), IMO.

Klay Thompson isn't garbage, but there might be better options at #13.

Burks will not last till #13.

Trading a 2012 first round draft pick with Lopez for #5 is D U M B unless it's lottery protected.

Biyombo might not even be there at #5. I have read the Cavs are considering an Irving / Biyombo tandem at #1 and #4, though if I were them I would do a Williams / Knight combo.

Derek Williams can play PF just as Beasley does. He has said himself that he considers himself a SF that plays PF, though I think that's kind of a silly distinction. If you're playing PF then you're the PF.

I love Gortat. He might be my second favorite Sun behind Nash, but it might be pointless to keep him. The Suns need star power, if trading Gortat gets us that then I'd be all for it. As much as I love Derek Williams I just don't think he has that wow factor though. Gortat is also 26 already and will be 31 by the time we raise ourself up out of this mediocre mess.

The interest in the #2 pick is unknown but everyone including Gambo and Paul Coro are all reporting that the Suns have major interest in Jonny Flynn.

Whats up with us going after PGs who sucked this year but were decent last year (Brooks, now Flynn)

If that is true you can bank on the Suns not touching a PG in this draft and probably squash any rumors about moving up to take one either. That also means they will stay away from Fredette....thank goodness.

Sounds like if they move up or stay, a SG or PF is their target. My guess is best available out of those two positions regardless if they don't move up. I would hope the Suns have learned their lesson with reaching for a big man for the sake of drafting one.

Frye and Derrick Williams would be a freaking good 3/4 combo.

Frye can stretch the floor allowing Williams to make use of his versatile offensive skills.

And how about on defense? IMO Frye/Williams combo will suck badly on D.

BTW you Gortat hater ;) check this out (I can't post links):

Won't bother, Tyson Chandler is 3rd who I always claimed was better than Gortat but the general opinion on this board ridicules.

I would agree than Chandler is better than Gortat, though I think they are pretty close. I sure wish we would have gotten him when we had the chance.

Anyone notice that NBAdraft.net has moved Williams to the first pick and dropped Irving to #2. I wonder if that is because of something out of Cleveland or if its just bc Irving didn't participate in the pre-draft camp.

yeah, let's load this mediocre old team up with draft prospects in the worst draft in nba history while giving up a future draft pick in what should be a great draft in a season where we'll likely have another lotto pick? that's one of the least intelligent things this team could possibly do.

You crack me up calling an average 27 year old starting center

I will stop there. That's the problem. You can't prove he is average. That cracks everyone up.

Yes I can prove it because there are definately 10 centers better than him and about 10 on the same level which puts him somewhere between 10-20 which is an average starting center.

Gortat, #13 for Flynn, #2 (Derrick Williams), #20 (Jeremy Tyler)

done done and done
