WOW, nice game by the Bulls. thought it was going to be easy for Miami. they are really playing as a "team", with stifling defense.

Yep! Two great players aren't going to beat a TEAM that plays defense like that.

well you are bulls fan? I wouldn't feel comfortable either if LBJ and wade were there. those guys will probably play better next game. they can get hot from the outside(which is what I think has to happen for them). they are streaky jump shooters when I watch. they can be off like tonight, but when they are on there is nothing you can do to stop them. just like deng said in the post game quote.

lebron said to watch the western conference if we wanted to see scoring, but I didn't realize he was conceding the fact that he wasn't going to get his. j/k...i do expect to see a better game two from the heat. the chicago depth played great tonight. better than everyone expected. keeping that up will be tough, but miami has to show some more resistance.
I've been a Cardinals/Bulls fan my whole life. Chicago sports run deep in my family (my grandpa used to hang out with a bunch of Chicago Cardinal players back in the 50s).

The stat that jumped out at me the most is that only 3 Miami players had assists. Lebron and Wade will likely hit more jumpers at some point, but they still have to create for others. The Bulls took both options away from them tonight. Add in the Bulls' decisive advantage in size, and Miami's offense has a lot of adjusting to do.

Ya.. Im still surprised people are picking the Bulls.. Its only been one game.. I dont believe the Bulls can do what they did last nite again..

You realize that Coach Thibs is the same coach who designed defenses that beat LeBron the last few seasons that made him cry after beating the Celtics in the last round. Also, the Bulls are 4-0 against the Heat.

well sadly lebron, bosh, and wade could of had one of those 30, 30, 30 point days and they still might have lost..

don't expect bosh to score 30 every day either. they wasted an opportunity there. he went 1-18 in the last game in chicago.

the facts are simple. the heat do not measure up to the size of chicago. there is too much on the plate of 2 or 3 guys and they have no help. they better rebound or chicago is going to keep winning. neither one of these two teams are great outside shooting teams. so when they make outside shots you tip your cap. however, rebounds lead to points. chicago is a better rebound team and I don't know if miami can really do anything to stop it. they haven't yet all year against the bulls.

that's funny...i was surprised so many "unbiased" or so called unbiased people were picking miami. I just don't see it. they are too short with their front line depth especially against the bulls. I understand why miami fans would follow their team. there's no shame in that, but if you are watching these games without the beer goggles it's pretty clear miami is in over their head. if they lose game 2 there is going to be a lot of pressure on them. you think the lakers had pressure on them because of gasol? just wait to see what james, wade, and bosh are going to be facing if they go down 0-2.

interestingly the bulls were giving rose wide open shots. I understand the concept of keeping him out of the paint and making him an oustide shooter, but not giving him wide open looks. Some of those looks he was able to set his feet and was not even hitting the rim on his makes. i heard people today saying the heat should just let rose do his thing and defend all of the other guys.

I will concede the fact that the bulls won't be winning many games by 20 points in this series because james and wade are going to score at some point in some way. one of those guys if not both will step their game up. but I feel like chicago exposed(actually re-exposed) a weakness that people have chosen to overlook. the lack of depth in the front line in particular..their stars are tough guys and can score in many different ways hence the reason they are in the ECF. but their supporting cast is weak at best. they have no tough guys(aside from their big 3) that can stand up to the bulls in defending and rebounding. they have to address this issue in the offseason. then they will win their title(s).

Right. Heat were so relieved after beating the Celtics but it is Thibs defense that they have yet to beat.

he's doing ok. he's scoring more points than mins played against the thunder this year.

nice shot by dirk with 1:42 left. the dude is cold blooded late in the 4th.

nice shot 1:18 left and hits a big shot. and this is a guy known as a choke in some areas of the country.

Dirk is not human. Serge is playing PERFECT defense and it's like he's not even there.

espn did a stat lookup and dirk is actually shooting at a lower percentage when he is shooting wide open shots against OKC. its ridiculous. i've never seen a guy like him.

Wow! 48 points on 15 field goal attempts - that's pretty efficient. ;)

24/24 on gimmie shots. the refs were calling a lot of fouls in this one at both ends. I guess with the way people have to try to defend dirk you could probably call a foul on every play. it's hard to believe that durant had 40 too. wow what a duel.

The Thunder still had more FT attempts than the Mavs.

I think Dirk has really truly matured as a superstar this year. He's paid his due over the year, having let the likes of Marion, Bowen, Haslem getting on his nerves in the past playoffs after Nash left. Too bad we Suns fans don't have a chance to see whether Amare would have matured as the ultimate go-to guy in similar mode. We drove him out the first time he was given the chance to lead and failed.

Also, it's funny that both Kidd and Marion played for the Suns, as max players. The salary and roles they have on this Mavs is probably the only way for them to win a ring. And I hope they get one this time.

great points. I hope marion and kidd get one soon too. it's almost like phoenix and the mavs are brothers lol.

I agree dirk has matured a lot over the years that is what makes him great. he's always been a big time playoff performer. I think the one playoff series where he played poorly(by his standards) was golden state. Outside of that he has really done more than his share as a superstar to lead his team. I even look at that denver series when his girlfriend was on the run and ripped him off financially. With all of this gasol apologists of off the court problems....i look back to that series and dirk averaged 34 points in that denver series when they lost(and dirk was having real problems off the court). yet the TNT set was calling him soft? early in his career he got his teeth knocked out against the spurs and still scored like 42 points and 19 boards. they lost that series in 5 games. and while bowen and marion have frustrated him he's had huge games/series' against both of those guys as well.

I think for dirk the problem for him is that he has played on too many playoff teams that have lost(most of those mavs teams played no defense either). and because of that you have a lot of people that naturally think that he is a soft guy. then when you have guys like TD...kobe...shaq winning title after title he gets bypassed. then you have guys like lebron/melo/durant that are the new market. and through all this time one of the greatest offensive players of all time is just sitting back doing what he does. I do like the fact that it seems like he is finally getting some love as an all time great.

yeah I thought the refs called a lot of soft fouls. they really didn't let these guys play that much. I know there were a lot of real fouls, but there were a lot of tick tack calls too. on both ends. I don't like joey crawford...i'm glad the mavs have actually won 2 games in a row that he has worked. usually they lose when he is their playoff ref. honestly you could probably call a foul everytime dirk touches the ball. there is no other way to defend him other than just letting him shoot uncontested shots. or doubling him non stop.
