Dirk didn't even come close to going out of bounds. He had his right hand on the hip and then ducked in on the left side and knocked the ball out of bounds. It's like a CB in the NFL they call the right hand on the hip, there was not that much contact.

Kidd did almost the same thing on the inbounds to Westbrook right after it's why Westbrook fumbled for a second and it totally screwed the play. And kidd knew he did it, he ran away like oh crap.

I have no problem with calling one if they call the other but I would have preferred they call neither. To be honest I think Dallas just inbounds to Dirk and he scores anyways, he was out of his mind hot at the end.
well KD got the same type of call to end the half. in fact when the whistle blew KD thought he was out of bounce and started running the other way. he didn't even realize that he was going to the line to end the half. that's why I don't have a problem with the officiating. I did the last game because I don't understand how dirk only got 3 free throws in spite of all of the contact.....while KD and westbrook lived at the line. outside of game 3 I think the calls have been pretty fair on both ends. it was just the timing of the foul that was tough. you would have rather seen him have to take the shot than shoot free throws. the mavs have been at the wrong end of this call or non call(for dirk) many times so I will take it!

after last nights game people are blaming the ref, coach, et. the thunder are just not ready for this moment. they are too young. they outplayed dallas and still lost because they don't know how to close out a game. it's that simple. dallas is closing games whether they have a lead or whether they have to come from behind. I guess neither is tough. neither is facing adversity. dirk should just sit on the bench until the last 5 mins of the game then.

Until they win it all, you're going to keep hearing this stuff about Dirk and the Mavs. IMO, Dirk has never been soft and he's never been given a fair break by the talking heads either. Maybe it's his skin color, maybe it's his nationality, I don't really know. Somebody like Kobe can call out his teammates and he's lauded for being a leader when he does it. Well, we all know what happens when Dirk does the exact same thing. But still, no matter how you cut it, the guy has had a phenomenal career and rarely gets his due.

I've never really considered the Mavs particularly soft either. They have two very embarrassing playoff moments not counting last season (which was more perplexing than embarassing, IMO). They lost to an inferior team in part because Wade is a tremendous player/winner but also because the Heat stepped it up physically and the Mavs just weren't built to compete in a WWE event. I guess you could call that soft but OTOH, you could also call out the NBA for allowing crap like that.

And the only reason they lost to a pretty weak Warriors team was because an egotist by the name of Avery Johnson took away their testicles and he wouldn't give them back. Cuban had to fire the guy so they could reclaim their manhood and once again remember your true leader has to be on the floor, not on the bench.

If Dirk and the Mavs win the NBA championship, his stock (and legacy) will rise greatly.

The more teams that get out of the 50-and-fade identity (like their fellow bridesmaids, the Suns and Jazz), the sooner the Suns might be motivated to do the same.

great post, i can't say that I disagree with anything on here.

what I will say is i think the lack of experience hurt the mavs in those 06 finals. people forget how young they were. and while the heat had a young wade, most of their team were old vets going for their last chance at a ring. the mavs let that moment slip away. I think the lack of physicality by the mavs compared to that of the heat may have been a sign of will power.

As will Marion's and Kidd's. I'm particularly surprised at how effective Marion has been.
yeah peja too. a lot of these guys have been stars on good teams in other stops. and they have found a role with dallas. I think that is what really makes this team strong because they have guys who can handle the pressure of the moment in the role that they play on the team.

Looks like the next 6 years of NBA are gonna be extremely predictable with the HEAT winning every single championship.

Never happen. First off, they have to win this season before they can go on this winning streak. Secondly, they'd need to keep Wade healthy for 6 straight seasons and I just don't see that happening. They will likely be in the hunt for the next several years but OKC and Chicago will both mature and I don't think either of them will be a pushover in the years to come. Plus, the Lakers will trade Kobe Bryant for the next great superstar to enter the league and put him alongside Dwight Howard and Chris Paul.

Yeah I didn't like the call with Durant either. I guess that's my point, 3 fairly similar plays and one of the 3 they called the foul.

I think Dallas wins the game anyways they're the better team, I just don't like to see inconsistency.

I do think the refs have a tough job, I mean people were actually questioning the charge call on LeBron last night, how obvious could it have been Brewer was in front and he ran him over and cleaned out with off arm, if they don't call that a charge I don't watch another NBA game this season. Yet people are saying that was a bad call.

Marion with another great game tonight. :)

Yup, marion really played well after he was called out, hope he keeps it up against the heat. I hope they beat the Heat.

P.S - Do Terry with his FAT head really need to dunk that last possession. Marion and Dirk is the reason i am supporting mavs, cant stand Terry.
