They'll presumably send Albadaladejo back down in a few days in order to bring up a starter for Saunders' rotation spot.

Another win! We've been beating up on teams we were supposed to be better than in order to get back to respectability -- the offense has finally awakened, so hopefully we can keep this up with Atlanta and the Dodgers coming up in the near future.

We must remember, and I hope that the D'backs do, that the frequency of our home runs flying out of Chase Field are, I believe, higher than on the road.

I hope that when we get back on the road we don't pin our chances on just the long ball.

Also, it is evident that Ian Kennedy is not the ace he was last year. With Miley moved up to #2 (I can understand not putting pressure on him by moving him ahead of Kennedy in the rotation), at least we have a man near the top leading the staff and, probably, our representative on the All Star team.

Offense, sans CY, is really clicking. Kubel up for Player of The Month for June! Upton is stringing together consistent, high-quality at-bats. Every time Parra is in the line-up he contributes... and played a terrific centerfield today as well. Goldy as well is having a great month.
And there just isn't enough space here to discuss Miley... What a HUGE surprise.

Bauer is gonna have to be called up after the break though... With Saunders hurt, and Hudson & Kennedy just not able to find and stay in their rhythm, we need some stability and reliabilty from our starting pitching.

Still need to address 3rd Base as Roberts is simply not an everyday starter.
Still need to trade CY as, well, he's simply not a starter... anywhere...

Hell of a game today. Especially getting out of that jam in the 8th.
It was interesting that Miley stayed in the game in the bottom of the 8th, even though he was not going to pitch the 9th.

Not that he led off with a walk (he is hitting .385), but that he was left in to run the bases and score. I was surprised that he was not taken out for a pinch-runner. Imagine if he had turned an ankle running the bases.

Rookie or not, he is our lead pitcher, stopper and probably All-Star representative.

Parra is by far the best lead off hitter on the team. 1 for 3 today but scored 3 runs. He's crafty. I'm not a CY hater but Parra, Kubel and Upton gives the team the best chance of winning.

I admit I did not like the Kubel signing, mostly because I like what Parra brings to the park every day. But it turns out that was a great signing. And Parra continues to contribute, even when he's not playing. Have you seen his enthusiasm on the bench? 82 may be right. CY may be the odd man out, even thought I love his range.

Look like Bauer may pitch this Thursday.

As far as 3d base, Bell is bad defensively and his BA is terrible. Maybe time to take a look at Davidson or Wheeler?

Arizona now heads to Atlanta for three games, starting on Tuesday. Then on to Milwaukee for three.

Braves are one game ahead of Dbacks in the WC standings

I think he was saying that Bloomquist would continue to be the starter at SS and that Roberts and Drew would rotate at 3B.

Did I not start a thread 2 months ago asking the 'what if' Drew played 3rd?

Exactly. Thanks, Mathew.

Good goin', Matt. I didn't remember it.

I think it was the Guv'nor who mentioned on air that Bloomquist was taking some fielding practice at 3B.

Do you guys agree that playing 3B is less risky for Drew's ankle than the twists and contact at SS and covering the 2B bag? It seems like a no-brainer.

Absolutely... However, that doesn't mean it's a no-brainer... We really don't know what else is factoring into this situation. For all we know, the D-Backs might want to have Drew as SS as that is his natural position and a place where he might perform best - and, if they are looking to trade him, they would want him to look really good when he returns. Who knows...

I don't think Drew has any trade value. He might help the Dbacks as the season goes on but no team is going to give up any good pieces for a guy coming off MAJOR surgery that is a free agent at the end of the season.

Greg Schulte just announced that Stephen Drew will be back with the D'backs tomorrow and in the lineup at SS for Game 2 vs. the Braves.

It is probable that Bloomquist will be our backup 3B and starter at SS whenever Drew is not up to it, with MacDonald probably remaining the backup SS.

So Bloomquist with his team leading .299 BAvg (.391 with RISP) would be heading into a Parra role. It remains to be seen if not using/rewarding our best hitters will pay off for Gibson. It sure goes against logic.

Edit: Drew is back in uniform and sitting on the bench.

Real ugly game last night... Looks like Hudson is headed for Tommy John surgery. Ouch... That sucks bigtime, but certainly explains his craptastic performances as of late.

Team still isn't sure about Saunders and when he'll return... Kennedy is struggling with control and consistency... Along with a gaping hole at 3rd base and the continued suckyness of CY - the team is in a very precarious position heading into the break - with the added burden of a killer schedule (13 straight games before the break, and then something like 50 games over 52 days coming out of the break... crazy). That type of schedule will absolutey test the rotation and the overall depth of the entire pitching unit. Ya think there's just a tad bit of pressure on Mr. Bauer??
