Off of the slag heap of unwanteds and never-wasses? Really?

I want Kyrylo Fesenko as the Suns backup center for the immediate future. He is big and he can play some defense. There are not a lot of options out there. He looks the part anyway.

Michael's Bulls had some pretty good years with big role-playing Centers in the middle. Now, I am not saying that the Suns have a Michael or a Scottie or even a Rodman but, in context, a role-playing Center to backup Gortat and allow him to get reasonable rest in games would be a step in the right direction. Lopez and Frye certainly didn't provide that.

To expect the Suns to get a better backup C than Lopez or Frye, at this stage in the game, is folly. There's a reason those guys are earning upwards of $5 million per year, in spite of their obvious weaknesses.

But I'm not looking for better, I'm looking for a big that can actually contribute at the center position for the time being. Lopez has been traded and Frye is injured. Fesenko can fill the center position for the time being. He is good for clogging the lane and playing some defense.

His 2 rebounds and .4 blocks a game is someone that can contribute to a NBA team?? I would much rather take a chance on Jermain O'Neal or at least someone that has proven can play in the NBA. (Haywood, Blatche, ect) Heck I hate to say it but I would even take Eddie Curry over that dude.

The Bobcats were awarded Brendan Haywood off waivers. I have mentiontioned O'Neal before but one liked it. The same with Milicic. Blatche is a forward I've always liked but there must be some reason he is still out there. Contenders like the Spurs and Heat are reportedly showing some interest of late. I haven't heard any Curry rumors.

Kyrylo Fesenko can contribute some at backup center as he is big and reportedly can play some defense. His stats last season were 2.7 points, 3 rebounds and .03 assists. Also he is only 26 and he might not be looking for a contender to play with.

I'd pick Fesenko, you can pick Curry.

You know that's based on literally three games, right? In other words, his season totals were 8 points, 9 rebounds, and 1 assist, in 17 minutes.

Here is a link to his career stats below if you like. I took a liking to Fensenko when he played for Utah. I always thought he was a better player than he showed. One can make a pro and con argument for him but IMO, for near the veteran minimum salary, he would be a catch. The Suns need some bulk at center when Gortat goes to the bench.

His stats don't show much progression in his five years which strongly suggests limited upside. I like his size 7'1" and 280. In watching a video interview I could see his hands and they looked normal for his size - slightly small if anything. His career FT is a scary 41%. From some highlight videos he has two shots - dunk and baby hook. The good thing is that he doesn't try to 'finesse' any shots at the rim - actually he did once and banged it off the front rim. He's not quick or fast but he's agile enough to play the pick and roll. He's sort of like Gortat minus any face up shot... rebounds at 9.7 vs 12.7 per 40min for Marcin, blocks shots at the same rate but fouls at twice the rate. You wouldn't want him on the floor at the end of a close game but other than that I'd as soon have him backing up C as Robin.
