Marshall is kind of pissing me off there is no penetration drive just passing it around at the top of the key. This will slow down the team big time. Just my 2qtr observations

I like Garret just doesn't look like he can shoot. Morris is the best player on the court, Waiters has a great first step, should be a good player if he gets his outside shot down.

I joined the first half very late.

Sims looks impressive. Morris is very active but cannot shoot the ball under the basket. I agree about Marshall not getting penetration, hence poor passing angles.

3rd quarter update: Marshall = pass only pg, still only his first game but you think you would want to come out and show your a NBA player. Morris doing well could be doingg better but is stay away from getting hurt which is good.

It's very early, of course, but the early indication is that Marshall will be behind both Dragic and Telfair on the depth chart.

Just what I was thinking. He appears so slow.

I don't have the roster in front of me but Garcia is making an impression.

Keep in mind there are some nerves as well I'm sure. He had some very nervous looking moments and its a shame that Kieff is the only finisher on our team.

Speaking of Morris, he's on route to a 30 - 20 game. Granted its the summer league but damn

I agree but watching he gets past the half court line then looks to pass right away that is scary. The three times he went into the lane so far have almost been all turnovers.. Still only first game.

Sloan really looks good for the Cavs. I don't know much about him.

Morris looks like a boss. Marshall looks like a bust. Simple as that.

Markieff Morris: 24 pts on 21 shots, 9-10 FTs, 17 rebounds, 6 blocks

Only con was his 6 fouls which he still hasn't got better at :/

Morris looks like a boss.

I'm beginning to believe Morris has more upside than I saw last season. He is rebounding well which he should, but he is making quick offensive cuts to the basket without hesitation. This can really be effective against a slower PF. Of course he can shoot outside but I believe when he learns to use his body as leverage and perfects his inside moves he will be able to get his shot off inside in traffic.

Marshall looks like a bust. Simple as that.

This was sort of my reaction at first but I think Marshall can play so much better. It's his first summer league game. Speed is not everything. So much of being a PG is ball handling, knowing when to pass, when to penetrate and when to shoot. I think Marshall pushed too hard to make passes that were not there. He didn't keep the ball in his hands long enough to set up the offense because I guess he was to eager to start the fast break and nervous. I hope when Marshall gets comfortable with the team he can play at his own tempo. I expect he will play much better his next game.

I'm not going to sweat the summer league. Would I be surprised if Marshall is actually a bust? No. But considering he is a pass first PG who probably requires a bit of chemistry with his teammates in terms of where they like the ball and where they like to shoot... its silly to judge much from a Summer League game with guys he met like a day ago and who are all gunning for their own stats.

Some of my observations:

Marshall had me smiling the first time he touched the ball with a beautiful pass up court to Morris I believe for a lay-up. Unfortunately, not much else impressed me. He makes Boris Diaw look like a ball-hog. He'll need to learn Nash's goofy footed lay-up and perfect a floater because he definitely won't be finishing at the rim. You could see glimpses of his court vision though. I'm not going to write the kid off after the first SL game.

Morris was a beast, but got shot happy late in the game which led to his poor shooting percentage. I like how Majerle is feeding him down low, and Morris is showing a lot of strength and shooting touch. He is doing what he is supposed to be doing in the summer league by dominating the competition in his 2nd year, something that Earl Clark could not manage to do.

Garcia is really fluid big-man with surprising handles. However, it seems that he is too preoccupied with scoring to give a crap about defense and rebounding, the two things that could actually earn him a roster spot in the NBA.

I liked Sims last game, but he didn't really stand out to me at all.

Garrett's length and playmaking ability will give him a chance in the league (not on the Suns), but he is missing something that I have yet to figure out.

Nobody else is even registering besides PJ Tucker who is unfortunately 4 inches too short.

What happened to Akos Keller? He's not even in the box score. Did he leave the team?

Haha just noticed that the Suns have Marcus Landry, brother of Carl Landry on the team.

Glad to know we still have our fetish for brothers :D

I actually like him a lot more than Marshall. He played under the same circumstance as Marshall did in his first game but he performed way better than Kendall.

He's leading the summer league in assists and he's barely started one game!

You are ridiculous ( no surprise here again ).

Bet you have never seen Garrett more than then 40 or so minutes he has played so far.

Nevermind your stupid comments about Marshall. First game, he is coming off of surgery too and has not played a competetive game in almost half a year.

Haha you are calling me ridiculous? Your the same guy that's been wanting the Suns to get rid of Gortat since he first put on a Suns jersey right?

Also the same guy that thinks Magic Johnson wasn't a PG?

Listen man first of all I'm not ok with taking on personal insults, but you my friend don't have much credibility to insult ANYONE.

And you are absolutely right, I have not seen Garrett play more than the 40 mins or so he has played in summer league. And guess what? I have only seen Marshall play in how many ever mins he has played in yesterday's game. So for me to say that "I like him a lot more than Marshall" is stupid?

I highly suggest you go look up the definition of "opinion" and then learn to respect it cause or else you won't be getting very far in life pal.

I didn't think the Phoenix Suns should have drafted him the night of the draft, but I have been trying to convince myself he might be okay. I know it's only one game, but it was exactly what I expected/feared. He is going to be too slow of foot to guard opposing point guards, and it doesn't look like he's going to be beating anyone off the dribble.

I know that the guy at the Phoenix Suns really wanted was off the board (Jeremy Lamb), but I do think they are going to regret settling for Marshall.

By the way slin, I'll go out on a limb and join Sunsfan88. I would be much happier right now if we just hadn't taken anybody with the #13 and we could get Garrett as a third point guard. I've watched some video on him, and I think he's a better prospect. Of course anybody who's been around here long enough knows I have fallen in love with some summer league players in the past.

Hopefully Marshall will change my mind at some point. I would like nothing more than to eat my words but until then I say he was a bad choice, especially on a team that needed so badly to get more athletic.

Brent Barry said this verbatim.
