If you were just looking at these players and not considering whether they are drafted or free agents,

Marshall would not be invited to training camp. Can't move and can't shoot. Unless there is something else going on, he has been horrible so far.

The Suns should have traded down and drafted Wroten. He can't shoot but he can defend and he is very athletic. I would have thought the Suns would have seen the flaws in Marshall's game after working him out twice. Marshall cannot shoot nor defend and he is not athletic.

He sure must have looked different in workouts. I would be curious to know the story there.

Not to beat a dead horse, but ahem, Royce White.

BTW, Morris is just chucking in the summer league. Yeah, he is scoring but at a 36% clip from the field (27% from 3). That's the stuff of bottom dwelling teams right there.

Both those players have to improve alot in order to be contributors on a decent team.

Dan Majerle has no business coaching. JMO

I think you're reading way too much into summer league. Have you looked at the offense the Suns are running? They try to get out in transition, but the half court offense has very little movement and practically no screens being set. And I don't feel it's a reflection of Majerle as a coach because it appears to be by design. The goal isn't to win games but to evaluate and develop players so they are putting them in difficult situations.

Morris may not have shot well but he was facing constant double teams and wasn't getting many easy shots by running plays to free himself. Maybe Marshall and Morris never pan out but I don't think you can make the judgement based on SL play.

Nope Terrence Jones would have been a better option than White and Wroten imo. Plus we wouldn't have had to spend $18M on Beasley if we just got Jones to be the SF.

And Morris has a low % cause he's creating for himself and is shooting off double and triple teams. And he takes so many bail out shots for this SL team. That certainly won't be the case once season starts.

Game on. I want to see if Garcia can slow down Selby and if Marshall is improving. Also I hope Morris plays only a few minutes.

Nobody can guard Selby. Marshall is playing better tonight. Morris is looking like a perimeter player.

Morris is playing like he heard me. :)

Wroten reminds me of Rondo.

Marshall is doing better that is good he taking some outside shots and driving into the lane. Wroten can drive but not much of a shooting touch.

I was worried about Marshall, but he seems to be adjusting his game. I still do not know how Wroten drops to #25 in the draft.

Same reason Rondo dropped, he is quick but I think if is playing against NBA players he will not be doing so well. He does push off a lot but in the summer league they are not calling that foul.

He is tall for a PG (6'6"), quick as lighting, can pass and even do a little bit of rebounding. Sure shooting is a weakness but I think scouts sometimes miss the forest for the trees, especially since Rondo is a recent reminder.

Score first guard without a jumper.

All I know is what I see. Some teams are going to be sorry for not drafting him earlier. Hopefully not the Suns because Marshall seems to be adjusting rather quickly.

How much have you seen? There are a lot of guys who've looked good in SL and were never able to adjust to the NBA. He's a score first guard who can't shoot and even in college his ast/TO ratio was 0.

Today's is the only game I saw him play in SL but it doesn't change my opinion of what I saw of him in college. He had a couple of nice hustle plays but pretty much all his scoring in today's game came from driving to his strong hand.

Couple of comments, when Marshall first arrived at UNC there were tons of rumors that he was woefully overmatched in practice and there were already rumors he'd transfer out after his freshman year. He's not a great athlete so he has to find his way on a team, once he did, he clearly made UNC better. I have no idea if he'll make it in the NBA or not but it likely won't happen instantly.

One of the big reaons Wroten "slipped" is he's a terrible teammate, for a guy who is a great passer, he's extremely selfish. He over dribbles, he is one of those guys who won't give the ball up unless he's going to get an assist out of it or he's about to lose it. He's a ball stopper he won't just swing the ball to keep it moving and it was a huge problem at UW it was being openly discussed by UW fans all year, that many of the guys on the team did not like playing with Wroten because he dominated the ball so much.

The bit of the Memphis game I saw(the one yesterday) Wroten looked great passing the ball. He was matched up man up on Kemba Walker twice, got embarassed both times, once literally turning his head as Walker blew by him for a layup, and then Memphis changed the matchup to put him on a slower player. They actually talked to Lionel Hollins who said Wroten had impressed everyone on offense but "his defense is a long ways away he has to quit guessing so much and freelancing he's constantly out of position and in real NBA games that kills your team defense."

Hollins does seem to like what he's seen so far but he basically had the same comments, same strengths and weaknesses. Wroten needs to change his game to be good. He's got the talent it's about his mindset, does he want to make highlight reels or win games?

They're interesting comparisons one guy clearly has the talent but seems to lack the mindset, the other clearly has the mindset but may lack the talent.

I've seen the standard stuff, draft write-ups, videos and tonight's summer league game. I like what I've read and seen. You don't, so be it. We can revisit it in the future.

Marshall is smart and from what I seen from his first game to now, he has improved immensely. His passing is going to make some mediocre players look very good. I think the combination of Marshall's willingness to work hard on his game and his court smarts will carry him a long way. His passing tonight, dare I say, was Nash like.

We will see about Wroten. I'm just a huge fan of his talent. Only time will tell. He has all the tools.

Caught the highlights. Really impressed by Marshall's vision. If he can develop a decent shot he will be a solid player.
