Coyotes get beaten back to reality with a 5-2 loss in Anaheim. Once again, penalties and late goals are the bugaboo. Man-games lost to injuries are starting to take their toll. Anaheim is playing really well right now, but handing them power plays does not help the cause.

They really looked like they were having fun out there. On Doan's first PP goal, he was grinning like a rookie. That was fun to watch.

The Coyotes go on the road and beat the Blues in overtime as OEL scores the winner. This team is so much fun to watch. Smith played big, stopping 37 shots.

Just incredible! OEL with the game winner!!! Not sure who is more exciting to watch, the Yotes or the Suns!!!

Wow, they didn't seem to want that game. The entire third period was played in the Yotes end. Fantastic rising shot from the blue line by OEL to end it in overtime. And Anaheim lost, so a great night.

This team has got to do something to give Smith some relief. He's gonna be burned out come PO time.
I'd like to see them get some more offense and maybe a better backup goalie - i'm not sold on Greiss. Brodour is rumored to be available, maybe he still has some gas in the tank for one more PO run?

Coyotes with a solid home win over a really good Tampa Bay team last night.

The Canada stretch started out well with the Edmonton win, but losing to a dreadful Calgary team is a missed opportunity. Combine that with an OT loss in Vancouver (albeit a two goal comeback) and you have a mediocre trip.

Agree with the way it played out in Canada ...... although if you look at it as a win, tie & loss and remove context it can be seen as a decent trip - although you'd expect/hope for 4 points off that trip

however, it was a nice regulation win against the Avs last night - really good way to close out the trip - snagged the points and didn't give up a cheap point to the Avs - they are currently 1 point behind CO an CO has 1 game in hand ...... after the Avs hot start that gap is starting to close a bit

The coyotes have been scuffling a little bit as of late themselves, however they have their next 6 against the Eastern Conference - the first 2 at home

The Hurricanes & Habs are really the only credible teams they are playing in that stretch and they get the Hurricanes out here .......... The Islanders were outplayed last night in SJ, but snuck it into OT where they picked up the win .... The Coyotes need to avoid that - they need to get the pair against teams like NYI, Buffalo, Ottawa - at least get a point against Toronto and then another pair between Carolina and Montreal ...... really need to get a minimum of 9 points over these 6 games - 10 would be great though

Yep, Greiss gave them exactly what they needed against a dangerous Avalanche team. Now time to feast on the Eastern Conference.

That would have been hilarious if it had happened to any other team.

Today, though, blow the whistle when you lose sight if the puck, ya putz!

Fluke goal or not, losing to a garbage Buffalo team that only had 16 skaters due to illness after giving up another late lead is the kind of thing that's killing this team.

Yeah .... the west is so super competative that these type of games hurt, especially with the OTL extra point that can really squeeze teams together in the standings

Right now the 'yotes are on a bit of an island - 4 points back of the 7 spot, 3 points ahead of the 10 spot and tied with the 9th spot with 3 games in hand

Right now 5 of the teams in the pacific division are holding spots in the western conference playoff seeding and 4 of the 6 teams with 50+ points in the conference (and 4 of 8 in the league at that mark) are in the pacific

It's going to be a battle to get maximum points against those teams so when you have a hobbled Buffalo team in front of you it's time to lay it all out, bury them and get the max points .... which they failed in about every aspect at

Keith Yandle left off the US Olympic hockey team, what a bunch of BS. And freaking Dustin Brown is going to be the captain.

General internet/media consensus (not that they're always right) has Yandle and Bobby Ryan as the two unfathomable omissions. Yandle is probably better than half the defensemen they are taking.

Seems the season is at the tipping point here, and perhaps past it. Just not good enough with the talent in the division/conference. They need a 10 game point streak, winning 8 or so...

A shutout by the Greiss-man and a couple of field goals by the Yotes was great to watch last night, but the next two games are huge!

Quite a costly loss for the Yotes last night, 4-1 to the Wild. Smith did not look sharp. Coach was probably regretting his choice several times during the game. The Yotes now trail the Wild by 2 for the last wildcard spot. It's early, and I think they can still catch a spot, but they are not playing well right now, despite the 6-0 blanking of the Flames three nights ago. They have lost 3 of 5 on this homestand, and face the best team in the league on Saturday night.

This game is a prime example of why Keith Yandle is not a first selection (may be injury replacement) for the US Olympic squad. He is a nice offensive defenseman - as his point totals year over year bear out - but he is a below average defensive player (-6 leads the team other than Halpern (-8)). The US team needed defensmen - they have plenty of forwards. The Yotes were chasing the game due to a terrible turnover by Yandle in the defensive zone (he should have received the only assist on the unassisted Wild first goal) and then a bad decision to try to keep the puck in the zone with three Wild rushing the blue line. Smith should have made the save (see above), but their shouldn't have been a chance in the first place. I get that people love Yandle, but the constant cheerleading by Nash (ex-roomate) is way overboard. I would happily trade him for a true defenseman and another piece.
Just my opinion.
