You make good points about Yans and if you read Burnside's report on the selection committee, those were some of the same concerns from the coaching staff as well.

As Coyote fan though, the kid has stood behind this market at a level on par with Doaner and that alone helps me overlook some of his shortcomings on D. I really hope he becomes the next Captain when Doan finally hangs them up.

So much for the two huge games. Need to jump on the Jets.

Keith Yandle is now a -12. It is time to sell some pieces. Too many talented teams ahead of them, and though this team tries, it does not have the talent to match.

I love Tippett, but he is losing this team. 8 penalties. Really?

this team must make the playoffs

LeBlanc has been pretty vocal about how important it is

They need to dig deep and commit to the grind

What we had come to know as "Coyotes Hockey" just isn't existing

They've given up 141 goals on the season - only 6 teams in the NHL have allowed more

That is through 45 games .... last year through 48 they gave up 131

Two years ago is was 216 over 82 games

So the goals per game allowed has gone from 2.63 to 2.73 to 3.13

Smith has been up and down - he's a guy who really need the assistance in front of him (most goalies do though) and that help just isn't there frequently enough

Losing like that in Winnipeg is a joke

They are still very much in contention with the 7/8 spot - although losing to the Wild down here stings

Just need to play better

Tired of watching Mike Smith.

I'm tired of watching us get outworked all over the ice.

It's one thing to be outworked by the Ducks who are a talent powerhouse and put in the work, but to go down to the Jets like that is so weak.

Every pass is off, shots miss the net, both 'tenders letting in back-breakers, just playing way too uptight. It almost feels like the boys need a night out on the town to let off some steam and get their heads straight.

Another loss, 2-1 at St. Louis. Something needs to be changed, they just look flat out there.

Last few have seen better work-ethic, but average goaltending and lack of finish is killing us right now. I hope to see something from the front office before the trade deadline.

Mike Smith is single handedly destroying the team's playoff chances. 2012 might as well have been a century ago. 4 goals on his first 10 shots tonight.

Just go with Greiss already...

yeah ... big game against a team that they are chasing in the standings - offense playing well, not that many shots going at net but way too many going in net .... really poor performance

Greiss was great, as was OEL. And Vermette can't stop scoring.

Playoffs are starting to slip away if we don't begin to turn this thing around. We need a winning streak in the worst way and losing like last night ain't gonna cut it.

I really want GMDM to make some sort of deal to help out the Czech line, but the market looks weak ahead of the deadline.

I was hoping the Yotes could have parlayed Yandle into something of value at the trade deadline. The pickup of Erat was pretty milquetoast, but in defense of GM DM, this team needs a lot more than a player or two. I still pull for them each night, but they are tough to watch right now - last night's win over the Canucks notwithstanding.

I was very pleased we were able to acquire Erat, he will be a great fit here. I've already said how I feel about Yans and I'm glad he's still here. I really don't think we're too far off if we can just bring some consistency to our work ethic.

When you see wave after wave of Yote jerseys hounding the puck, we can go toe to toe with the best in the league. NHL playoffs are all about getting hot at the right time, so I'm still feeling positive about our year.

I agree with you that if they play up to their capabilities, and with effort, they have enough to go a round or two. The "West" is pretty tough, though. When I called the trade milquetoast, it is not that Erat is a terrible player, but that he is older and "average" and that makes it a "meh" trade for me. But there also weren't blockbusters to be had, really, and the Yotes need more than a single player anyways. Still hoping they get it together between the ears and bring out the fight like in 2012 and Smith continues to sharpen his focus. Go Yotes!

Bleh. 2-2 on the road trip isn't going to get it done boys. Schedule doing us no favors late in the season. Need Marty back in the worst way.

Nice road win in Pitt last night (3-2) after yet another heart-breaker in NY (OTL), after yet ANOTHER heart-breaker at home to Boston, after a nice point streak. Griess played well last night. Yotes are still on the edge but in at the moment, up 3 on Dallas (82-79) with 9 games remaining, and Dallas with a game in hand. They are 3 behind Minny, who also has a game in hand. Should be an exciting finish.

Let's hope Smitty gets back soon. We're in a position to control our own destiny.

Some are speculating that Smitty's abscence might direct the team back to the style that brought them success last season...
As for me, I'd rather have Smitty healthy... but Griess did look pretty good in Pitt... Should be interesting...
