I'm happy the suns have seemingly more talent than expected. Now I want us to lose a LOT of games. This frosh class is as billed. Parked much better than I ever expected. Randle is real deal. Wiggins is a greyhound. And they're all just in their second games. We HAVE to get lucky with ping pong balls for once. FOR ONCE PLEASE!!!

Both are going to special players. Parker's game is the more polished and NBA ready of the 2. Wiggins' athleticism makes his ceiling higher but he definitely needs to add weight. The whole "introverted" personality scares me a little bit and might keep him from reaching his ceiling. But there are guys like Rose who have a similar personality so...maybe he'll be ok

His comparison by some is Carmelo Anthony so that would work out perfectly ;)

wiggins is more explosive than durant.

his jumper is not good, but he has a solid stroke, unlike for example young lebron, will be easy to develop a good jumper. if he develops a really good jumper, he's unguardable.

time to stop effing around, this 5-2 record is ridiculous. finally we have a chance to do it right, and we are winning? what the hell?

i'm dead serious, if we keep winning i'm going to be quite pissed. come on portland get revenge for game 1, and hopefully we lose the next 10 in a row after

I like the way you're thinking. Get both Harrison's, another Plumlee, call up Goran's brother, Harpo Dragic, I will have to check with my sources but I believe Eric Bledsoe and Drew Bledsoe are brothers from another mother. Dude was like 6'5", I bet he can ball.
To paraphrase an old joke, are you going to build a winning basketball team or screw around?

And what's with the 'Harpo'? Isn't Goran's brother named Zoran?

Or were you thinking of Groucho, Chico and Harpo? There were two other Marx Brothers -- Gummo and Zeppo. Hey, they could have been a basketball team. :D

Yeah, it was a Marx Brothers joke. Steve followed it up nicely calling him Zeppo. I think I may have actually recycled it from last year, referencing the famed Harpo Zeller.

But I suppose "Goran and Zoran" has enough comedic value on its own that I didnt really need to make the effort.:D

Yeah Parker got absolutely destroyed inside by KU, he didn't even try to offer resistance.

Randle at least moves his feet, but then he didn't even bother to contest shots. One of the CBS guys called hm on it said Calipari should explain to him you're allowed to jump on defense.

Wiggins is a much better defender than either of them and he's just learning, still got the highest ceiling of the group but they're all awfully good.

There's like 6 kids in this class who might have gone #1 overall last draft.

Meanwhile Bennett and Shabazz and some others are absolutely floundering.

with the 14th pick of the 2014 nba draft the Phoenix Suns select
Marcus Smart
. I kid.
I'm liking what I see out of UNM's Kendall Williams......especially that miracle three he had against UAB to send the game into overtime.

Selden is going to be a special player. He is shooting well, driving to the hoop, getting garbage points, playing solid D.

I have mixed feelings on Selden. He's going to dominate this season no doubt but the question will always linger, how much of his game is due to his physical maturity? That's been his advantage for a couple of years now but when he's in the NBA he'll be playing against grown men. OTOH, I've seen him compared to JR Rider and if that guy had been straight in the head he would have waltzed into the HOF.

Nbadraft.net has re-shuffled at the top. Parker projected to #1 and Wiggins drops to #3. Parker looks the most NBA ready right now. Wiggins has loads of potential but has really struggled to assert himself as a go to player offensively

Parker doesn't play defense and UA exposed him they attacked him with 2 guys and he wouldn't pass the ball. he's also got a "bad body" he is overweight. But he can sure shoot the ball, he rebounds well and he blocks shots. I don't know what he is in the NBA though, not a 4, not quick enough to play the 3?

the fast riser right now on NBA boards is UCLA's Zach LaVine. I have to assume guys are just watching highlights, yes he can jump out of the gym, handle the ball and shoot deep 3's, but he can't guard ANYBODY. UCSB put up like 20 on him in the first half the last game, he kept not closing out on 3's in the zone and swish. Terrific upside but when anonymous scouts are saying Westbrook with a jumper I know they haven't really watched him play. Westbrook could guard at that level, so far LaVine can't.

But if he concentrates on defense in another year he's a lottery pick. I compare him to Rex Chapman but he's taller, longer and quicker and jumps just as high if not higher. Played alot of PG when he was younger too before he grew which is another thing scouts like.

SI has Julius Randle at #1 on their Draft Big Board. Alas, the way PHX has been playing they won't get a shot at the Big 3 unless they package their picks to get into the Top 3. I think Randle is exactly what PHX needs.

I want to see how big Randle actually measures at. he's very similar to Michael Beasley just not as dominant, and not crazy like Beasley.

Lots of people say if Beasley just weren't an idiot he'd have been a really good NBA player but I don't think that's true he was never able to guard his position because he wasn't big enough to.

I suspect Randle is taller but he was 6'9" in shoes at the Hoop Summit (6'11" reach) so he's essentially 3/4 of an inch taller than Beasley was at the combine. Beasley has been such an idiot off the court I think many people don't notice he just wasn't any good ON the court in the NBA. I know Suns fans know that but lots of people seem to forget that.

Much better kid and plays harder, but they have similar games. Randle liked to drift alot in HS he's not doing that now. But he's pretty physically maxed out I suspect.

My main concern with Randle is that he is playing the role Coach Cal wants him to in his system to show he does what is asked of him. I've read that Randle in HS at times fell in love with his jump shot instead of playing the post. He is no doubt gone after this year and I fear that he won't want to bang in the post with bigger more physical guys in the NBA and will become more of a jump shooter. Aaron Gordon is another player who is playing the PF spot Coach Miller is asking of him but it is a well known fact that Gordon sees himself as a SG/SF, problem is he doesn't have the shooting range to play those positions.

This draft is hyped as one of the best in the last 10 years but despite these phenoms being super talented, none are a finished product. But what can you expect from 18 year olds, there is only one Lebron James.

I am beginning to think this draft is being overhyped. The value of the picks we have right now might be inflated. We really ought to be looking for a good trade.

i disagree. have you actually watched these guys? for 18 year olds, they're pretty much off the charts, and remember, they've only been playing college ball for less then a month. they're going to get better, a TON better.

i don't watch any college at all. just watched randel highlights, and will he be tall enough for the nba at his position? seems like is vertical is fine but does he have short arms for a guy his size? seems like a tweener if you ask me.

I agree with this. Its so early in the season and these guys are still adapting and learning. Watching Wiggins today he already looks better. Come March and tourney time will be the indicator of whether this class was overhyped or not

Interesting comparison. I think Chapman was a better shooter. Parker is a lottery pick this year and will go top 3. Defense is usually a weakness with most of these guys and I think he'll get better as he develops. His offensive repertoire is already miles ahead of anyone in this freshman class right now

Chapman's shot looked better yes but so far despite some very poor shot selection, LaVine is still shooting lights out. I think he'll come down a bit to be honest I think he's back at UCLA as a soph after a summer of getting stronger, but I think NBA scouts are right about his offensive potential. Right now he's the prototype AAU player all dunks and 3's, no mid game. If/when he starts to show that he's going to be tough to stop.

But his defense is atrocious and he needs to get much stronger.
