Ideally we'll be able to lockdown 2 quality players before we either match an offer for Bledsoe or give him an extension straight up. Ideally we'd sign them before Bledsoe though so we could go over the cap some if need be in regards to Bledsoe's extension. His cap hold is 6.5 million I believe, leaving us with around 20-22 million considering rookie/draft picks cap numbers. I don't want us to overspend for anyone though but 20 million should net us 2 definite starter quality players.
I think Monroe is the only big, PF/C, worth spending a sizable amount on who is available, around 10 million per year. I don't see Detroit matching with the logjam financially they and talent wise they have in their front court now. At SF I'd prefer Parsons but would take either Deng or Hayward if the price was right. Those two signings would eat up our cap space but should all be moveable if a star at any position becomes available like Love or Aldridge. I think we could make a package with what we have plus who we pick up in the offseason for one of them that could be one of the best offers available. If we do manage to get Monroe plus either Parsons, Hayward or Deng while retaining Bledsoe we'd be a contender in the West, not a favorite but probably behind the Spurs and OKC, about where the Clippers, Blazers, and Warriors sit.
My only real worry is that we'd get Deng & Hayward or Parsons. Basically getting 2 players who play the same position and using Deng at the 4. I know he can play it in spurts but I'd much rather see a more conventional front court than more small ball. The Bledsoe/Dragic experiment works well based on what we saw this year but if we went small in the front court also that could be a major liability defensively and in the playoffs. If Pau leaves LA and is available for a reasonable cost he is the only big, PF/C, I'd like to see them go after but not for the same money we'd offer someone young like Monroe, Pau may be more talented now but he would be a stop gap at best for 2 years max.
