Imagine the ridicule if someone like Sarver had done that.

It was bad enough when the Suns gave up multiple first-round picks to unload Kurt Thomas immediately after falling just short in the Conference Finals.

The longer this goes, the better.

I get the sense that several other teams have already been told that James isn't considering them, but the Suns haven't been. That could be good news, or it could be the agent stringing the Suns along in order to try to get a better deal for Bledsoe. The James-Bledsoe connection is going to work to the advantage of one person above all others, and that one person is their agent.

I think there is some truth to this. I hope the Suns are not being played.

Didn't Cuban say he erred in getting rid of Chandler? Which he now has rectified.

It was worse when he decided to not pay Amare after falling just short of making the finals.

It is interesting to note the Suns position via Gambo (move on without an answer in 24-48 hrs) changed abruptly, with Sarver saying they would be patient. We could certainly be getting played, but considering the cost/talent of the rest of FA, I'm ok with having all of this settle out. The realistic options for Lebron are starting to dwindle.

While I'd agree that it certainly looks like the Suns chances are looking better than we may have previously believed, the fact remains that Lebron can pick any team he wants and that team would do what it takes to sign him to a max contract. I agree that many would have to gut and destroy the team in order to do so, but he will get whatever he wants. I am encouraged by all that's being talked about here, but I'm mostly hopeful that he has proven to want to be on a team with good friends. He calls Bledsoe a good friend. Therefore....

If he was a really good friend, he'd come here and play with Bleds. We'll see where his friendship level exists. :)

I wonder if Lowry agreeing to sign a 4 year, 48 million dollar contract with Toronto, might it be a template for Bledsoe's contract.

I think it's going to be really close. I would guess that Lowry is slightly more regarded than Bledsoe, so maybe 4/44?

Lowry is another target of Miami. One more option gone. If LeBron signed with us would Miami offer Bledsoe the max just out of spite?

I hope we have some sort of a deadline for LeBron while we wait. I think a week should be plenty, so the 8th?

No it wasn't. Stoudemire's contract is a disaster. What kind of shape would the Suns be in now if they had that contract hanging around their necks?

If by some great unlikelihood James comes to the Suns, you can bet that a maximum contract for Bledsoe will be part of the deal.

No kidding. I view that as the best move Sarver has made to date.

Otherwise he would have picked up Nash again too.

The Suns made out like bandits by signing Nash at #15, then trading him later for nothing consequential except a draft pick which turned out to be Shawn Marion. Then signing Nash again as a free agent. Then trading him to the Lakers for draft picks after his best years.

Thinking about Marion, Finley, Nash and Kidd the Suns and Mavericks have shared some good players. I will not even mention Vince Carter.

I'm not saying now but back in the summer and fall of 2010, Sarver got ripped left and right for it. I remember all the articles about Nash needing to get away from Sarver just like Amare did.

Remember the #freeNASH campaign? I sure do. Chris Webber started it and it picking steam world wide.

Not by most of this board. But sure, look around the internet, you can find people passionate about any opinion you want to put out there.

This is a joke, right? Chris Webber? What the hell does he know? We're talking about Chris Webber the former NBA player, right? Seriously?

I hope you are right about Bledsoe's salary.

I'm not worried about Miami offering Bledsoe the max just yet as I still think Lebron returns there. I hope I am completely wrong and he signs with the Suns. Anyway, I think Bledsoe gets close to the max anyway.

I think you are overestimating the outrage over that. Sure there were some people that were upset about it but there were others who thought Amare wouldn't get more than one or two more good years out of those knees and they were very correct.

Big deal. People have ripped Sarver for anything and everything. Some he deserved, some he didn't. Most of the Suns fans that I know understood and agreed with not throwing that much money Amare's direction. It's not like Sarver didn't make him a good offer, it's just that New York could afford to take an unreasonable risk. This board was nearly unanimous in agreeing with Sarver's decision.

I think Amare moving on was the smart thing to do. However, the part that irks me is the players Sarver spent the money on afterwards.

Bledsoe is a much better defender but has the injury issue. Lowry is four years older and further along in his development but he has a lot of baggage. My guess, Bledsoe stands above Lowry but it's hard to tell.
