Kerr can say whatever he wants but I'm guessing he felt sick to his stomach when Sarver told him to make that move. Sarver had been dumping picks in the years prior to Kerr getting there anyways. It was the easiest way to soften the Luxury Tax blow.

There's no question that Sarver forced him to do something, I just highly doubt he forced him to make that specific move. And as far as I know, Kerr has never even insinuated that he wasn't the one that crafted that deal. I don't excuse Sarver's involvement but I lay that mostly on Kerr.

Yes, all those were bad. I'm including the transaction that traded the Lakers' pick for Knight as a part of the move. As I said in my previous post, KT and picks was terrible. This would be my obvious selection as worst move ever had Kerr voluntarily made it. However, it was a forced trade by our owner. Kerr is on record as saying he didn't want to do it. As far as I know, Sarver was not forcing McD's hand, which means McD voluntarily made his decision, thinking it was a good idea. Kidd for Marbury was bad, but at the time Kidd was a public relations nightmare following his domestic violence situation, and at least we received an all-star for an all-star. Majerle's career was winding down by the time we traded him for Hot Rod. He was used as a reserve by Cleveland that year and they did not re-sign him the following season. He then signed with Miami where he was also used as a reserve. Hot Rod at least played 3 seasons for us after the trade. As far as the Thomas and Lakers pick, we gave up young, all-star level talent in Thomas (on a fantastic contract) in exchange for a late round pick. Huge loss in value. Though, we don't know what the Lakers pick will amount to, just the rights to the pick alone is a highly valuable commodity. In my opinion, much more valuable than Knight. Another huge loss. These two considerations combined make this the worst (voluntary) move that I can think of, imo.

Btw, I have enjoyed our engagements as of late. You are an excellent poster.

Awww shucks, thanks. I have felt that there has been a surprising amount of rational discourse on this board of late. I credit Steve's return.

But, I do view the Knight and Thomas trades as seperate transactions. Moving Thomas made sense, in retrospect the return was bad, but he wasn't going to start here, he wasn't going to he happy about it... and that was that. Our season was done, we should have accepted it and moved on, trading that potentially lovely Laker pick for a guy who was about to hit free agency and was also a questionable fit... bummer.

Bledsoe and Knight actually did have a nice thing going early in the year and that was despite a dreadful front court situation being out there with them, so... perhaps there is still hope, but I'd rather Booker got those minutes anyway.

There are very few comments on this board that would not draw disagreement and that's one of them. I think we all, to a person, would far prefer watching Booker play.

And be allowed to further develop in his best position -- Shooting Guard -- when and if Bledsoe and Knight return (which I am not rooting for).

Phrazbit hit it on the nose, Steve. Much more rational posting on this board since you returned.

Yeah, sure, someone has to counter my wacky ideas.

Speaking of missing Steve's (or maybe he's a Stephen?) and rational posting, it would be nice if someone could talk Superbone into returning.

Add GreenMachine and Capologist to that list!

Wow, haven't seen Capologist around in probably a decade and GreenMachine's been absent for a couple of years I believe. I didn't interact with either poster much as I was still mostly lurking when they were active. I remember Cap from the Suns Rivals site more than I do this one.

Anyway, I didn't mean to leave anyone out when I mentioned Superbone, I just know that we lost him fairly recently and the board was a better place when he was here. I'm sure he's still active on the .net site and while I know why he left, it would be nice if he would forgive, forget and return. Actually, I'm sure he's already long past the forgive and forget stage, I'd just like to see him return.

Unfortunately, the .net site doesn't exist anymore. Not sure where everybody went from that site. I used to frequent it, but the format was so difficult to maneuver.

It resurfaced as Phx-Suns.net with most of the original posters. I signed up there a few years ago but I don't believe I've ever posted there.

It was resurrected. The format doesn't look good right now, but it is the same group basically.

However, its as depressing a place as any Suns message board these days.

Ha! I had no idea. You're right about the format, although it's still better than what it was. One of the guys that was on there was "Sunscat" from the old ESPN boards--not sure why I remember him. That was back in the days with Boise and a few other old timers.

Still here! Just not as active as normal. I'm basically a lurker now...;)

Still hoping the suns can turn it around, but we've been waiting quite some time for that to happen. We will see.

I miss the days when we were good enough to bring out the forum trolls.

I posted there many years ago before I discovered ASFN.

IMO, they were more regimented in regard to keeping things mostly in preexisting threads. The things I wanted to talk about were often buried. Also there seemed to be a pecking order of sorts. I've always been opposed to what I consider a cliche.

Someday I might try it again to see if my perception was wrong. I like other posting options but ASFN seems to fit my needs.

The old ESPN boards... I always think of GMATcallahan (I think that was his name... or at least close) and his posts that were like thesis papers. Someone would ask "when was the last time we had a decent 2nd round pick" and about 12 hours later GMAT would post a 5,000 word history of Suns 2nd round picks and why and how they failed or succeeded. I cannot imagine how much time he put into those things.

via twitter...Steve Kerr wins coach of the year

It would be hard to vote anyone else coach of the year even though Kerr missed 43 games. Golden State went 73-9 in the regular season.

The Trail Blazers have quietly done a good job this season and Terry Stotts is worthy of finishing second in the Coach of the Year award.

He's still fairly active on RealGm although he disappeared for quite a while.

He's worthy of having won it IMO. I don't like the way the rules and tradition treated Walton this season. The team seemed to play better under him than Kerr and while I'm confident it was due to reasons other than coaching, it makes the COY award to Kerr a little suspect IMO. I'd have gone with Stotts if for no other reason as to avoid the appearance of needing an asterisk for the award this season.

There is certainly a valid argument for it but everything is coming up Warriors these days. I think Stephen Curry deserves a lot of credit for the chemistry on the Warriors team.
