I agree.
I think you have to throw in the Pacers too. He's a huge local favorite having been born and raised right there not to mention having played his college ball at Butler.

^^I also think Hayward stays with the Jazz, money talks and that's a lot of money. I'm just suggesting that Indiana might have a lot of pull should he decide he wants out of Utah.
I wouldn't deny the Pacers have a shot at landing Hayward goes East. My thinking is the Celtics have a better shot at a championship if that is his goal.
Bottom line, we agree Hayward likely stays with the Jazz.
Yeah, without any real insight, I would think Utah followed by a tossup of Boston/Indiana and then perhaps New York because of his connection to Jeff. Although Jeff is more likely to be unemployed between now and the end of next season than he is to still be the coach of the New York Knicks.
If Jeff is running the triangle offense he will probably be gone soon, especially if Porzingis is not happy with it.
I think Jeff running the triangle actually works in his favor since it's Jacksons preferred offensive style. If the Knicks aren't winning but they show an improved triangle offense then I could see Jeff being retained because it does take time to install that offense. It doesn't matter who coaches there under Phil Jackson, as long as he's their GM/President he will want them to run the triangle.
Buying out Melo is way beyond realistic. No way in hell Sarver would give up that much money to buy him out. And I don't think he has huge negative value. What makes him more negative than BK?Doug and Wolf this morning were saying that the relationship between the Knicks and Porzingis has REALLY soured. He is not even speaking to them. There is the possibility that Porzingis is attainable in trade.
They think a team could get Porzingis for a decent asset AND taking Carmelo. This brings up an interesting question. Would you give up say,
BK, #4 for Porzingis and Melo. The Suns would basically have to buy out Melo and that would cost in the range of $40 million. I have no idea if this is realistic. I am just thinking out loud right now. Melo is HUGE negative value. Maybe it would also cost another first round pick.
Melo is a ball-stopper and does not make people around him better, just like BK. But Melo is getting paid $26 million this coming year and $29 million the year after. BK is getting paid $13.5 and $14.5. Plus Melo has a no-trade clause.Buying out Melo is way beyond realistic. No way in hell Sarver would give up that much money to buy him out. Absolutely. I think "HUGE negative value" for Melo is a clear overstatement though. His salary would be off the books long before our young guys would hit their stride. In the interim, the pair of NY players would probably put us in the running for the 9th spot, if not better.
But I'm not convinced there's any real substance to the idea that Porzingis wants out or that NY is willing to part with him.
It doesn't make that much sense for NY to include Melo in any KP trade considering they'll be left with no one to lead them if both are gone, other than whoever they get in return. Maybe we could get a 3rd team involved to take Melo, sure we need a SF but not him. For Porzingis though I'd give up our #4 pick, Chriss and/or Bender, plus BK to try and make the salaries work.
