Heat are still the 6th best team in the East. Hopefully one and done and we're picking in the top-5 and late-teens.

It's official. Hayward to Boston.

We'll probably see a rash of signings as a result.

The Jazz would have had a nice team with Rubio, Gobert and Hayward plus Hayward would have made more money with the Jazz. I can't help but think Hayward saw a weak Eastern Conference and wanted to go there with a better chance to compete in the playoffs.

They are going after Porter now. Seems likely that the Wizards will match so I'm not sure why they do it.

Good question except for perhaps a sign and trade.

I wonder if the Suns would consider trading Warren, not just to the Jazz.

I guess the Suns are waiting for leftover bargains. It's not a bad strategy but I want some news... soon.

With the NBA free agent market being so volatile, it's better to trade a player a year early than a year late. The Suns need to wrap up players they want to keep before restricted free agency if they want to keep them. It's a real gamble with teams wanting to overspend.

So if Patrick Patterson signs for 3 years, 16.4 million dollars does this help set the market for Alan Williams?

I'd have to think that's a decent comp. A lot of players thought we'd see a repeat of last offseason when everyone had cap space and stupid contracts we're being handed out. Plus the market for centers is weak.

This would be a good contract for Williams.

I'm wondering what happens to Len, if the Suns can rescind his qualifying offer or somehow use him in a trade.

I can see the Jazz overpaying for a SF but Gay does not appear to be their type of player.

I keep wondering what the Jazz could give us for Warren.

Is asking for Gobert too much. :p

I saw that the Kings were offering Porter a 4 year/$99 million offer, I guess Brooklyn is paying a little more. I thought $99 was the max he could get from another team. The Kings might be better than Brooklyn next year since they got George Hill and Paul Millsap. I don't see either team, Brooklyn or Sacramento, making the playoffs though. I'm not sure the Jazz will get back to the playoffs without Hayward either.

I think the Jazz will have trouble getting back to the playoffs as well without a replacement for Hayward.

Millsap went to the Nuggets.

Rudy Gay will get overpaid somewhere and seems content playing for losing teams. Every team he leaves gets better after he leaves, Memphis and Toronto did and Sacramento should. I hope he goes to Miami though and helps them lose. Utah is a panic move from losing Hayward that they'll regret. I'm not sure if they make it back to the playoffs without Hayward, definitely not getting out of the first round.

Gay could have helped OKC though as the final piece of their "Big 3". He's not really a player many would consider to be part of a big 3 but he can score in bunches and would give OKC another offensive player beside Westbrook and George. That could have made for a great playoff series against Golden State. I think they'd have the talent to go big and possibly make Golden State pay for it.

Westbrook - Curry
Gay - Thompson
George - KD
Kanter - Green
Adams - Zaza?

I still think GS would win the series but that would be a fun series to watch. They won 47 games last year, traded Oladipo and Sabonis for Paul George which was definitely an upgrade. I'm surprised Westbrook managed to get so many triple doubles and so many assists considering the players he shared the court with. They really don't have any other offensive players beside Westbrook. He won't be expected to carry the team as much with George. Patrick Patterson is ok, but I don't see the need in OKC, they should have spent their money on a legit shooter at SG. If they had a 3 point shooter they might be able to contend.

I agree. Gay probably would probably work for OKC.

You're right, my mistake. I thought he signed with the Kings for some reason. The Kings have become the Suns of 4-5 years ago, offering money to a ton of players but not landing many. They've been used to up the prices of a lot of FA's.

Also I read that the 3rd year of Millsap's deal isn't guaranteed, which makes his deal a little more manageable. Still a lot for his age. They ended up doing the deal in a sign and trade, sending Gallinari to the Clippers so they'll finally add a decent SF there, something they've needed the last 3-4 years but they don't have Chris Paul or Reddick anymore so I can't see them being a legit contender anymore. Jamal Crawford is going to Atlanta in the deal also. Don't know why they'd want him since they've been shedding all of their older players this offseason.

So the Gallinari trade was completed. I knew it was in the works but I lost track of it.

It looks like McDonough will explore options until the end. He is very methodical... nerves of steel.

It may well drive me crazy.
