Anyone beginning to think the Suns want another team to make an offer on Len so they do not have to match. Or perhaps the Suns are still looking to trade other players such as Tyson Chandler or Knight and waiting to sign Len. I think something is going on or Len would already be signed to a contract such Alan Williams.

Found it!

KentaviousCaldwell-Pope.

Don't feel bad. Too many initials are floating around out there for too many things.

Sometimes I get frustrated having to work through it. :)

If the rockets get Carmelo I'm going to crack up. How does he make them better? Don't he and Mike D hate each other?

I'm not so sure, Nerlens Noel still hasn't gotten an offer and the same could be said for KCP before the Pistons rescinded his qualifying offer. Teams aren't willing to deal with restricted free agents unless that player can be a potential franchise player for them. I know KCP and Noel both thought they were max players and their teams have refused to cave. Hopefully they don't do what the Suns did and bid against themselves and pay big money for restricted free agents that other teams haven't shown interest in. I know KCP has signed his deal with the Lakers but that's a 1 year deal that prevents the Lakers from killing their cap space another way.

He makes them better offensively (another scorer) but fits the no defense theme HOU is going for. They must think they can outscore GS. I don't see why a team would want to help HOU, they have nothing except for Capela of any value, even their draft picks will be at the bottom of Round 1. What team(s) are going to be willing to deal young players and absorb bad contracts for crappy picks and possibly Capela if NY doesn't insist he go to them?

I guess I'm wondering if the Suns are interested in keeping Len even for the qualifying offer. I would hope so unless they would prefer to keep the cap space for another move.

I don't think it's his cap number so much as his roster spot that the team would rather have available. If he can waive any trade during the season he could be a problem in any moves the Suns want to make. They could cut him outright but I doubt they'd do that.

I do not think the Suns want to waive him either. If no team offers Len, the Suns might be wise to sign him to a reasonable contract and trade him later. It could turn into a messy situation if the Suns do not want to keep him.

The metric numbers for Len are really really bad. His on court impact was 2nd only to knight... in the negative sense. I think they're straddling the line between not caring and not quite giving up. In other words, accepting qualifying offer is how they'd prefer it to play out.

The lack of interest around the league does not surprise, even ignoring how generally lousy his play has been, lumbering centers are not in demand.

If a another team does not offer Len, the Suns may have have two players on the roster (including Knight), they would prefer not to play.

I think they're fine playing Len, but I don't think they want to commit to him.

If I had to guess I'd bet knight won't be around, if they can't ship him they'll pay him to stay home.

I agree, Knight is the bigger issue.

I wouldn't be shocked if Len got a deal just a little higher than what Williams received, any more than that would be a mistake. The main reasons for signing him to a contract at all would be to be to use him in a trade at a later date, as an asset or making salaries work, and also so we can let Chandler go. If he signed for around $18-20 million over 3 years, we should be able to move him easily if needed. He may even develop but I won't hold my breath waiting for that. Having him signed would allow us to trade Chandler though, which needs to be done this offseason if we hope to get anything in return for him, even if it's just a late 1st rounder down the line.

I don't think Len has a long term future here but he should factor into our plans longer than Chandler. Having Len locked in would allow us to move on from Chandler and let us to look for a replacement that fits the new NBA better. Have Len play a limited role on the team for 20-25 minutes similar to how Golden State uses Zaza, as a rim protector and rebounder in the first half and if the game is slowed down in the 4th.

That's promising - this time a year ago anything less than $12m per I was thinking would be a fair price for the guy.

The Pelicans meeting with Rondo and also working a potential trade with Detroit for Reggie Jackson shows how clueless they are. They have 2 redundant players in Cousins and Davis in the frontcourt and now they want 2 redundant players in the backcourt since they just resigned Holiday.
