I put more up tomorrow. Just got in. I'm kind of stunned and I need to try to understand this. The price was okay. The player is odd. He's a poor man's TM. Lots of issues with him.

What issues? The kid is a stud.

Short, slight of build, which could show an inability to stay healthy ala HB and can't catch a cold... Lol

Have you watched him play?

If your gonna say oh well this player could get hurt then your gonna have a problem with every player in this draft.

Well it's a good thing he's not a wide receiver huh

True.... But it's a normal reaction to small slight of build thumpers like Bob Sanders and HB.... Hard to stay healthy in the NFL history says.... That's the only knock I got besides he can't catch so while he may be around the ball he's not you g to create turnovers.... per Mayock the kid flat dropped 7 or 8 ints last season

I'll give you he does have small hands and drops some possible INTs. Hence why he isn't on the offensive side of the ball.

Ok well that's 7-8 passes broken up.

Sanders and HB were/are spectacular when healthy I'll take it.

This sucks!

Arians said Budda Baker will likely miss most of OTAs because of U of Washington school calendar. But Cards not concerned.

He's a virtual clone of Mathieu, which sounds good but where are you going to put these guys? Badger is already relegated to nickel man because he's short and injury prone. How well do you think this smurf is going to hold up? WHO IS GOING TO PLAY CORNER??

I like his name!
I hated watching him play in college; simply because every time the commentator said Baker's name it was ALWAYS, "Budda-Baker". Normally they call out the players by their last name. I swear during one game the play by play guy must have thought "Buddabaker" was the kid's last name!

I know it's a picayune issue, but it really bugged me! :billthecat:

Earl Thomas: 5'10, 202
Buddha Baker: 5'10, 195

With a little NFL bulking, he can get up there.

Guys, this will be fun...

The main difference being that Mathieu is a converted CB and Baker is a more natural S. Mathieu is more comfortable closer to the LOS because he spent his college days as a CB. Baker can move down, but is very comfortable over the top. It is one of the distinctions which should enable them to be on the field together and still complement each other.

Awesome!

Baker and Reddick both have reps as hard workers. Same with Johnson and Ford from what I have heard. I don't know about Logan, Holden, and Williams.

Brock Huard (Seahawks radio, ex-QB) had some really interesting things to say on yesterday's Burns and Gambo show - http://arizonasports.com/category/podcast_results/?sid=1005&n=Burns+&+Gambo

He talked about how as a QB you can usually trust where you're going with the ball. But there's a handful of DB's that are super quick and instinctive that take that away and always have a way of getting to the ball. He said HB is one of those players. And BB is one of those players as well. So he thinks having both of those guys out there is going to make it a nightmare for QBs.

Brock also talked about the evolution of things where Peyton Manning was always able to dictate what he wanted to do to defenses with certain personnel. Then now, some defenses like the Cardinals (and Seahawks?) have turned that around where they try to dictate their will on the offense with personnel. He says this rivalry isn't dead yet. The whole interview is definitely worth a listen.

I know I'm very late to the discussion on this but what a roller coaster ride the pick was for me! First, I was pissed when I saw they moved up because I assumed it was for a QB. Then I was thrilled/relieved it wasn't. Lastly, I was confused/indifferent because he was one prospect I didn't watch much tape on because I assumed we were in the market for a DB with size.

Now that I have had a chance to study him I'm on board. He seems to have many of HB's traits: Quickness, physical, agility, awareness, effort, size, leadership, sure tackling. As a few have posted above is that I do think he has a little better long speed and projects a little better as a center fielder. He doesn't have HB's hands, but covers ground and makes good plays on the ball.

Another reason why this was a necessary pick is the attitude and leadership that he brings. We all know how little impact our recent picks have made initially. Remember how every preseason practice HB was making plays and impressing coaches/teammates? I think BB will be the same. This team was in need of fiery personalities both on and off the field. This is why I was a huge fan on Peppers. Different player physically, but similar mentality. We all know the dogs they have in Seattle. The ones that love the fight. The good guys just added one to our side!
