I've not met one fan who thinks England will get to the final let alone win. Tunisia went into the game to spoil the party. They did a good job overall. You say England aren't clinical, but those misses were out of character for Lingard (especially on recent form). England were as good as the vast majority of the 'serious' contenders so far.
Looking forward to the next match. Did rashford play? Aside from Kane for me he is their best striker. Dele is a wonderful attacking player as are sterling and Lingard but they need to be scoring more as well. Obviously all are very young and shall improve.

Can't argue on your last sentence. Spain could EASILY have drawn with Iran, or even lost, today. So many of the top teams aren't impressing.
It is nuts to see all of these top teams struggling but a lot of these lesser teams are flat out parking it like Iran did today in the first half. And faking injuries all game long. Another thing I’ve noticed with players like neymar, Suárez, and even Ronaldo in a sequence when Spain scored....they looked lazy at times not trying because they aren’t getting their way. Hate seeing that. Even the German players looked uninterested in playing. I thought Mexico really let them off the hook from what should have been an easy victory if they could score goals. My team to watch is Belgium. They have the supreme talent to beat anyone. And while they struggled against Panama they still seemed like they were able to score when they needed to. I think they can hoist the trophy. I think we will see better football now that the pressure to win is higher and we will see better matchups soon enough.

great goal by Eriksen for Denmark. that group has an interesting finish awaiting. for me not a intentional or even a wreckless hand ball on the penalty given. France as expected beat Peru.

Argentina...wow what an ugly match. first off the ref missed two obvious red cards one for each team. no VAR... surprise...LOL but beyond that Argentina were dreadful. lazy and uninterested. jogging around while Croatia attacked them. they looked like Arsenal!!! not a strong enough midfield presence for Argentina. Croatia can be a force in the knockouts.

I don't think the second red was obvious. He was pushed into the back by the Argentine player.

I might need to go back and look then, but I was speaking of the clear stomp by Rebic and the argentine player that kicked the ball into the head of the Croatian player while he was on the ground. he also kicked him. BBC pundits were also claiming VAR should have been used to review for red card offenses....

Argentina is just done. In a way, I feel better as a U.S. fan than their fans probably do. Loving what Croatia's doing, though. I was stationed in Bosnia during their '98 semi-finals run, so I have a soft spot for them.

For all that Erikson had that wonderful strike, he was absolutely invisible for the rest of the game.

BTW, Landon Donovan is dead to me. Dead!

Did Donovan really call Americans who don't want to root for our arch rivals racist??

Oh, I hadn't heard that! I just saw his McDonald's commercial while typing my reply, and it pissed me off all over again.
He responded to the backlash in a podcast and took the political slant trying to explain the commercial.
