Did anyone look at Collin's last night? Does he look out of shape?
He looked too emotional and during the press conference he gesticulated like if he came from my same country

Third, he mentioned Patrick Peterson as the veteran to learn from in Arizona

You keep saying this despite keim coming out and explicitly stating he’s a hicks replacement.

Yeah well it was about 3.30am here when the Cards picked and I've been working all day. Forgive me if I haven't had time to catch up with all the media.

Y'all can stop with the "Ackshually Keim said he's going to play Mike".

Except a rookie needs to ARRIVE at camp in peak playing condition. Showing up overweight will just make it less likely he contributes early.

This is getting silly now. Does he look out of shape? You think a guy with that alpha mentality and those leadership qualities is going to turn up at camp overweight? It's nit picking BS.

I hope not, but was responding to the notion that showing up to camp overweight would be no big deal. It would definitely be a big deal.

Like I said, I hope he doesn't, but he's gaining weight when he should be getting into better shape, not worse. Benefit of the doubt? He put the weight on to try to be an edge rusher.

Supposedly Steve Keim checked Zaven Collins weight before the draft.

By Kent Somers Arizona Republic:

Like most first-round picks, Collins a freakish athlete. He's close to 6-feet-5-inches and weighs 265 pounds, although his weight reportedly ballooned this spring.

Keim talked to Collins about it back then, and even Facetimed to see Collins weigh himself.

"He was back down to his playing weight," Keim said.

What a weird call that must’ve been. “Ok zaven take that shirt off right now or we won’t draft you!”

Strengths

Three-year starter and winner of Bronco Nagurski Award.

Consistent, impact production in all three seasons.

Freaky combination of size and athleticism for linebacker.

Range to make plays all over the field.

Sees opportunities to swoop downhill and attack holes in blocking scheme.

Size and knock-back power to take on blocks.

Burst and length to track down runners from backside.

Terrific second effort as a tackler.

Recovers from blocks and gets back into the play.

Plays disciplined team defense, filling his fits and spilling plays wide.

Good awareness of air traffic in zone coverage.

Reads quarterback and slides into passing lanes.

Had four interceptions in 2020, including two he returned for touchdowns.

Weaknesses

Would like to see a little more alpha aggression from him.

Doesn't always impose size and control blockers with his hands.

Instincts and diagnosis are just average.

Needs deeper fill to leverage and constrict run lane.

Can improve pathways getting from Point A to Point B.

Rushed pursuit and overran cutbacks versus Oklahoma State's outside zone.

Needs time to gather and change direction due to size.

Average reactive agility in the hole.

Not a natural rusher when turned loose off the edge.

A couple of snaps here too of him playing edge. One for a sack and one for a FF.

Big guy who doesn't read plays well, change direction, or react to a play and is prone to over pursue.

NOT good weaknesses for what he's projected to be.

Cards should have hit the phones the second Horn went to the Panthers. Absolutely baffling that we didn't trade up. Not a fan of this pick at all. Keim loves to draft LBs he never uses.

They didn't have much to offer, to trade up. Giving away 2022 picks wouldn't be good.

I forgot but I need to get this off my chest.

The NFL network SUCKS!

For every pick before us and every pick after they spent a bunch of the time talking about what they were going to do and what they did do.

When it got to the Cardinals pick they spent 10 minutes talking about Mac Jones and the Pats, then "Here comes the Cardinals pick. The Cardinals take Zaven Collins. Now let's go to an add break". Then when they come back it's all about the Raiders. They didn;t say jack about the Cards leading up to the pick or after the pick.

Nothing new, I watched 20 drafts and has been always the same when we are not picking in the top ten

Why do you keep talking about this when it’s been made clear he already fixed his weight?

One of the things Keim said over and over during the offseason is that the Cardinals wanted to get tougher.

I think Zaven Collins is tough.

I think Zaven Collins will be a good player, I just hated drafting an ILB with back-to-back 1st rounders.
