Sounds like he wasn't cracking the Spurs regular rotation. Maybe they didn't like what they had seen and thought he would be a spot bench player and that's not the role he wanted. Hence the waiving.

All of this except this part "an average playmaker". Not sure what you mean by that. Curry seems like one of the best in the biz at hitting big shots when you need them. Do you mean in terms of getting others involved?

Yes, that's what I mean by playmaker. He can create for himself but isn't capable of creating offense for others that well despite being a PG. He's no Steve Nash or Chris Paul but he doesn't need to be either. His shooting opens the floor for others but he doesn't share the ball a lot. Part of that his role since Kerr used Draymond to initiate offense for everyone but I think Curry needed to add that to his game if he wanted to go down as the top PG ever conversation. He's done quite well as is so really hasn't been a necessity, largely thanks to coaching.

It's unfortunate Cam Payne can't return to the Suns. I think he is a steal for the minimum.

I don’t even think of Curry as a PG. Just seems like an undersized shooting guard to me. Probably the best ever to shoot the ball.

Adrian Wojnarowski thinks there will be a significant market for Cam Payne with contending teams if he clears waivers.

By Adrian Wojnarowski, Senior NBA Insider Sep 11, 2023, 02:09 PM ET:

Should Payne clears waivers this week, he'll have a significant market of contending teams looking to add him -- especially after his productive postseason performance for the Phoenix Suns in the 2023 Western Conference playoffs.

Steve Ballmer:

“We’re working on a Clippers season pass. You buy a season ticket, you sell it if you’re not going. I don’t like that. That’s how we get the other teams fans. A season pass, like Netflix, you can share it with 3-4 people. You can’t sell that.”

So basically they set you up with other fans to split season tickets? Not exactly ground breaking. Not sure why he'd compare it to Netflix either. Offer bundles, like the Suns have full season tickets, 20 game packs, and other ticket groupings available. Do the Clippers not? I mean, they're the Clippers and it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't since Sterling was such a bad owner but Balmer has had the team too long for that to be a new thing to brag about.

I guess I misunderstood, I thought Ballmer was complaining not bragging.

I don't know if brag was the right word but it seems odd he's talking about this as if it's revolutionary or new. They're the Clippers and they'll always get other teams fans at games. That happens everywhere. What he suggests isn't new and won't curb resellers.

I guess I'm still confused? I thought his point was that their intention was to design a package where season ticket holders would no longer be selling game seats to non-fans? I'm sure he knows it happens elsewhere but it's been my experience it happens a lot more often in places like LA and Phoenix.

But how can he really determine that? Sounds great in theory.

It sounds like the Suns could be penalized for having three stars.
The league might shoot themselves in the foot. On one hand I get exactly what they are saying. It sucks for fans. However, guys that are overused and not load managed? They are more likely to get hurt which means missing them for other games. This might be a catch-22 type scenario.
