True but for a vet min contract if he wanted still better than Payne. Do everything you can to have him healthy at the end of the year. Payne just flat out isn’t worth his contract on this team where money could be used better… I’d literally rather watch Saban Lee than Payne at this point..

The same Cam Payne who has stepped up every time he's had to fill in for Paul? I believe he's 4-2 as a starter for the Suns in the playoffs. That's not really an anomaly either as he performs when given the opportunity. He's well worth the $6m a year. Finding a back up PG better than him for the veteran minimum isn't happening.

Oh please Payne is terrible unless it’s a blowout and doesn’t matter! Ill advised shots turnover machine, sure you can point to a handful of games if he’s even healthy but for the most part he is a train wreck the last 2 seasons…

Train wreck? Now I doubt you've even watched the games. Again, Derrick Rose is beyond washed up. Cam Payne, when healthy, is among the best backup PG's in the league. Question his health, that's fine, but you won't find a better backup for what the Suns have available.

Dude really? Payne played decent in the finals run but the last two seasons he sucks! Reckless with the ball and can’t seem to stay healthy anymore. I get it some people like him I’m not one of them I’d rather see Goodwin than Payne. Payne is not getting better he’s declining from decent…

I think Payne suffered from Monty as well, by the time Paul was done Monty had no choice to play him but never really knew how to play him this year. I think Monty didn’t like Payne, just my guess.

The health thing was an issue this past season, and I don’t think the team ever disclosed what exactly it was that was holding him back despite him being spotted shooting and practicing but not playing.

I’ve lost faith in him as much as I have DA honesty would like to see them both gone, just a bad energy from those two…

I think Monty had issues with how Payne played in that he wasn't a Chris Paul clone. He was given more leeway and freedom when Paul was out but when Paul was playing, Monty stubbornly stick Paul and wouldn't let Payne play his game. He wanted Payne to be CP-Lite instead of Cam Payne and that was an issue. When he started though he was fantastic and just as productive as Paul except our pace was also much faster, which is another thing Monty wasn't comfortable with.

I agree with most of what you say, but in this case, I just can't agree. When HEALTHY, Cam Payne is a very good backup point guard and a good spot starter. The only reason we should be entertaining the idea of a 3rd point guard is health. That's it. And personally, Saben Lee can fill that role just fine, so IMO point guard isn't an issue at this point. It's all about the wings on this team now.

I agree wholeheartedly regarding DA but Cam Payne always plays with maximum effort and energy. I've never doubted his drive, will, or desire. DA? Well, we wouldn't want him gone if those things weren't an issue.

We got the new kid from Washington. Don’t know much about him, but I’m hopeful he can provide some good guard minutes.

IDK, Payne is inconsistent. When he has a good game, it's above NBA average play. He and Ayton just have to figure out how to bring. With Payne he seems to press too much and try too hard. With Ayton it's the opposite, he doesn't have a consistent motor.

From what I am reading, he seems like a really good defensive player. Sounds like he is still working on his shot on offense. I think you want a guy that can bother opposing PGs, especially when you play a CP3! :)

Payne has been anything but reliable. His play didn’t seem to recover from the last month of the prior season up until he came back from injury this season. He was downright awful at times and inconsistent.

There is a reason the Suns have been looking for more guard depth. After his last injury return I did see signs of him returning to form but I think we need a better backup than Payne. He is an OK spot player.

If Payne stays it had better not be a starting role, he should be at the bottom of the PG depth chart period. Maybe some spark off the bench but can be sit immediately when he sucks or starts doing stupid poo! Either see the young defensive PG Goodwin we don’t need a scoring PG we have scoring taken care of.

Wow, might as well call it ShamDuel.

I'd be seriously leery of using some of these betting sites...and/or pinning my hopes on sports 'insiders'.

Betting on where a player goes in the draft is a crap shoot anyway. I wouldn't be doing it based on a last minute tweet by Shams, Woj, or anyone. Seems obvious there's a catch otherwise it's free money.

Most educated fans had Miller going #2 because Scoot and Lamelo doesn't make a lot of sense. I know I always thought Miller was going #2.

Bet on games, bet early one a team winning their division, but betting on where a player is drafted, other than Wemby being #1, is a fools bet. I only mention Wemby because I had heard odds of him going #1 were paying out at something outrageous like -750000 which basically just reports to the IRS you have that much cash on hand because the payout on that is $75,000 to $1

I think the bigger issue is the "insider" working for the betting service and having the ability to move a betting line that much, based on one tweet. I think those relationships should be more transparent. Otherwise, it could go way beyond betting on the draft.

Dang, I had hoped for Naz Reid on the “center wish list” thread.

I wonder if Naz Reid wanted to return to the Wolves, maybe a loyalty factor in play because he wasn't drafted.

IMO, he could have received much more in free agency.
