Toronto obviously needing to blow up their team was among the many reasons I was arguing against blowing up our team for KD.

I didn't realize the Raptors gave up a 1st this year for Poeltl. Not sure if we could have gotten more from them for Ayton but I vaguely recall there being some interest. Poeltl is under contract for 2 more years at $20 million a year with a player option for another year at $20 million. So overpaying mediocre Centers is something they do. That's part of why they're blowing it up, the pick is top 6 protected this year.

What could have been.

We wouldn’t have the assets to land Siakam. We got beal bc he was able to dictate where he went and Washington was looking for a salary dump or younger asset.
Just doing what most people here are doing, think we can get an asset for under market value, like KD. ;)

I agree, we should have paid market value for KD. I figure a few salary filler players and a top 29 protected first round pick sounds fair for an oft-injured 35 year old with a negative value contract. ;);)

BTW, I used two smilies because my post was twice as funny as yours. ;)

That's the thing. People here don't know what market value means. It is literally what a transaction ends up being for that good, or service. In our case it was the trade details we made for KD. The other side had a 4 year hold on him and didn't have to deal. They had all the leverage. I just shake my head people can't see that. It's done now, and I just get tired of all the moaning about it. :) :) :) :) :) :)

It's like those stupid off season mocks people make. We could trade for KD, give them our bottom 5 guys because the salaries match, the trade simulator says it works, and because KD is older, they have to give us 4 first round picks to take his salary off their books. Makes sense doesn't it? ;) ;) ;) :) ;)

I would have taken Siam over Beal. But what do I know?

I think we all would but the Suns spent most their of quality assets on Durant.

The Suns got Beal for second round picks and contracts that were perceived to have negative value.

Fine, but you took a cheap shot at those of us that believe we overpaid and tried to make it okay by using a smilie. We know what the hell market value is Yuma, we're not idiots. We simply have a different opinion than you and it's based on the FACT that no player in the NBA has ever garnered such a treasure trove of assets at his age and that doesn't even consider his injury history and likelihood of further damage. Different opinion. Not, my side smart, your side stupid like you keep trying to make it out to be.

And, BTW, once again, you brought it back to the KD trade. And then followed that up by telling us how tired you are of hearing our side of things only you boiled our side of things down to "moaning about it".

Fair enough. Just my business college back ground coming out. Market Value is set by whatever agreement was made. Not what you think it should be. Maybe that's part of what rankles me, is that term is technically being misused.

I did want to put it out there how these arguments seem to me like the unrealistic trade scenarios I see put on this board and reposted from other sites.

Again, I apologize for not making my wording more diplomatic. Just REALLY frustrated over this issue.

Didn't Nash just miss that at some point in his tenure with us?
The closest he got was 18/11 on 50/40/89.9

He would have done that multiple times in this current league though. The league was quite slow paced still when he was with the Suns.

I really hope someone is texting this to James Jones on a daily basis.

Why? Hali didn't want to share medical records, can you imagine if something came up and we drafted him? On the opposite end of the spectrum I'm sure Cam Johnson gave full disclosure on his hip injuries.

KD does all that EXCEPT the assists. Nash does all that except the 20 points. Magic missed one season when he shot ONLy 38.6% from three, but matched everything else.

Interesting story in the Warriors and Magic game tonight. Grant Hill and Channing Frye are doing the game on NBA Tv and they're talking about Jalen Suggs, and Frye just casually says he met Suggs when he was like 10 or 11, I guess he knew Suggs dad(?) wasn't clear and he said my son's a good player coming up and likes the Timberwolves, so Frye gave him tickets. And then said from then on everytime I played in Minnesota, I gave the family tickets to the game. "Imagine my surprise when he committed to Gonzaga", and he clearly was joking but also was clearly saying he expected him to commit to Arizona because he was friends with the family.

Even then I'm not sure it would have been a violation since it sounds like he knew the father before Suggs would have been considered recruitable but it was funny.

Beginning to look like GP2's time is almost up. Last year the injury with the Blazers and then came back to Warriors and got hurt. He just came back a couple of games ago from a leg injury and went down tonight with what they're calling a hamstring "strain" but didn't look like he'll be back anytime soon.

ANd something you almost never see, Curry missed 3 FT's tonight 6-9.

Wow Zach Lowe says one NBA exec told him NBA teams view RJ Barrett's contract as "a toxic asset".

Never been a fan, selfish player can't shoot but man toxic is pretty harsh?
