He has two things we missed in the playoffs. Supremely confident in his shot and a willingness to pull the trigger anywhere. Will be our second best transaction of the offseason.
That and the ability to torch any defense that leaves him open.

He could well be. There are some other additions that could shine like Eubanks.

I am thinking this may end up like the WNBA Commisioner's Cup. It's the least touted thing ever in the WNBA. So what's the point of having a tournament among the teams that will eventually be playing for the real championship later? Say the Suns win this tournament, but lose later in the real playoffs? Will we even care? I am almost hoping a team wins the midseason tourney that isn't playing in the real playoffs. What if someone like Popovic rests starters in these games? What if your star player gets hurt in the extra 83rd game (the championship)?

I can see a young team caring, like if OKC won it. I think it'll be used a gauge for younger teams to go all in for that season or become sellers and tank early also. Lets say Minnesota does awful, will Ant call for moves from the front office or will he request a trade himself? I think it'll make moves happen earlier in the season. Actual contenders won't care but say the Suns do awful, what then? That will definitely be disheartening. Will it ruin the confidence for a playoff run or will cause the front office to make moves?

I doubt it has any bearing on seasoned contenders. Almost every contender has some dip in performance at some juncture in a season, even if it’s only fleeting. They likely don’t care about the tourney if they’re keeping their eye on the big prize.

I identify Gordon‘s experience as the differentiator. I expect all our pickups to shine:)

Except Metu and Nigeria are out at the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament after losing to Mali.

Metu didn't play particularly well. I think he tried to play power forward.

As Hoop Head mentioned, it may be more like an Orlando bubble for young teams that want to prove themselves and as a measuring stick of where teams are before the trade deadline.

I think a team like ours will care a great deal as well.

All of these minimum guys stand to win 500k if they win the tourney.

Diop, Eubanks, Metu, Watanabe, Bol, Ish, Goodwin and Camara all make less than 2.5mm this year. That's a 20% raise right there (35% to Camara). And highly consequential to even Eric Gordon who is making 3.1mm this season.

Now those guys have some work to do with the top 4 earners but I think they would want this for their teammates.

If the big boys want a quick exit, I don't really mind. Maybe it's a real thing some day, but for now, it just seems like a gimmick.

Brian Windhorst talks about the Suns focus on winning a championship now.

Less injuries, the Suns appear to be in position to contend for the next three seasons.

Yuta Watanabe of the Suns reportedly avoided a serious ankle injury earlier this week in FIBA play.

I hope Suns players can get through World Cup play unscathed.

By Arizona Sports:

According to Kyoto News, head coach Tom Hovasse said Watanabe underwent MRI scans which revealed he escaped serious damage and may return to action Saturday against Slovenia, the last of Japan’s three SoftBank Cup exhibition games in Tokyo. Watanabe did not play in Thursday’s 88-70 loss to reigning Olympic silver medalist France.

Point guard Ty Ty Washington Jr. is waived by the Thunder. He would be worth a look by the Suns on a two-way contract.

How was his play prior to this injury?

I feel like everyone in this forum should watch Windy's comments. Quite interesting from a person who has covered the NBA for two decades.

Wow! That didn't last long.

Ty Ty was involved in the large Dillon Brooks trade. The Thunder really don't need him with all their young players. I'd like the Suns to give him a look. I read the Bucks were interested.
