John Gambadoro again emphasizes Deandre Ayton is unlikely to be traded. Considering his value is down, this is good news.

He has been pretty consistent which means he knows something. He said the only way it happens is if someone offers a solid return with multiple players that can be part of the regular rotation. Suns won't take bench warmers.

Bruce Brown opting out is a pretty significant development for Denver. I imagine he's in line for $15-20m, MLE money at the minimum which is about $12m.

If Denver gives him MLE money they'll have the same amount of money tied up in their top 6 as we do with our top 4. Which is why it's important that the Suns break up Ayton's contract into 2-3 players.

Did I read that once a team hits the second apron, they can no longer combine players in trades? Trades must be one for one. If that is the case that may put additional pressure on the Suns to get an Ayton trade done before those rules go into effect.
Bruce Brown is gone, for sure, as Denver do not have the MLE nor early Bird right to sign him.

If over the second apron then players can't be combined for a player making more than the league average, which is about $12m a year. So we could combine someone like Payne and Ish for someone making like $8-9m a year. Ayton is well over that salary so can't be combined.

As for what @Proximo said about taking back a bigger deal, that's incorrect. Traded players must be within 110% of salaries so we could take back a player making like $1m a year more than Ayton in a deal but but not someone making like $5m more. Regularly salaries must be within 125%, so it's much more restrictive.

I heard a segment on 98.7 and they went through almost every NBA team and possible trades that would make sense for both sides. There's almost no trades. I can see where Gambo is saying that.

He went on a huge rant about people shouldn't criticize him since he has been right about all the stuff he is putting out but then said as of now he doesn't think Ayton will traded but left an opening that if a team is going to blow PHX away with an offer that will change. To me he isn't always first to call stuff. The Beal trade was broke by someone else and he tweeted that the trade interest was real. He is a guy who likes to toot his own horn and feels the need to validate himself to listeners.

I heard a segment where he was complaining his words were going "all over the country." LMAO!

All he needs to do is say he doesn't know and not shoot down everything reported by guys like Woj. I would respect him more if he would say "I don't know but this is what I think" and not "The info is not true". I know he has some connections but even his connections aren't going to feed him intel that could impact situations if info got leaked. Most GM's deny everything until something is finalized so him shooting everything down only opens him up to being wrong. He wants the national clout of a Woj or Shams and feels he has to prove them wrong to gain respect which is sad.

It's not a move I would have made if I were the Suns GM.

Totally disagree, he is a useful defender and cheap.

Did you forget the list of probable minimum free agents? He is better than at least half on that list.

Of course, you are welcome to disagree, but you must see something I don't.

By Arizona Sports:

The 6-foot-6 wing averaged 4.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game last year, shooting 37% from the floor and 33% from deep. Most of his total field-goal attempts (227) came from beyond the arc (173).

He was not an integral part of the playoff rotation, playing only 21 minutes across six of Phoenix’s 11 postseason contests.

It's about his defense. He was actually the best defender we had against Kwahi.

He takes up a roster spot.

Personally, I would have rather played Saban Lee in the playoffs than give the roster spot to Ish Wainright.
Your right we very much have different opinions on players. Saben Lee is far worse than Wainright to me.

Here is how I look at it.

It's not that I think Saban Lee was ready to play, but I would have preferred another point guard on the roster in the playoffs with the Suns persistent injury situation. At least Lee will play physical and fills a need.

Ish Wainright cannot guard a healthy Kawhi and he only shoots 37% from the field.

Ish was streaky, and only shot 3's, of course his overall shooting percentage would be bad. He is loved by his teammates, and as a 10-15 guy on the team that is also pretty important.

If being loved by teammates is worth $1.9 million, I have the wrong teammates. :)

Ish is a useful body to keep, as poorman's Jae or Craig. I'd also like Saben given a long term min. deal. He can develop into a better version of Jevon Carter and Payne.

He should play quarterback instead.

Love this move. He is a cheap filler. We still have more positions to fill.

Germz from San Tan Valley called it.. this was the Germz bomb that was dropped a few days ago..

More headline moves to come!!
