I knew the MHJ hype was too much when people were saying that getting Justin Jefferson in a package for the #4 pick from the Vikings would be a bad trade for us. "Why pay the best WR in the NFL $35 mill a year when we could get the same thing on a rookie deal?"

MHJ is good and will probably be great, but there is no guarantee he will ever be as good as Justin Jefferson, Jamar Chase, Deandre Hopkins, or CD Lamb. Marvin never produced like those guys in college and the NFL is a whole other level.

Rice is a different era altogether. The others are worthwhile comps. But also note that MHJ is the lowest among them. If you project all them over 17 games MHJ comes in 200 yards behind chase, 300 behind CeeDee and 400 behind jJ. So that difference is significant.

Why do 4 games when Marv has played 5?

First 5 for Chase 23 for 439 yards 5 TD, Marv is 17 279 and 4 TD. Again it's good but well behind Chase. I'm not going to bother to look at the others.

Marv has played 5 games, 1 great one, 2 good ones 1 almost invisible. The best thing yesterday was he didn't sulk, game on the line made the 4th down catch.

He's got to be more consistent though he had almost as many yards in the first quarter against the Rams as he's had the entire rest of the season.

If the ESPN stats are correct, Marv now has 35 targets and only 17 catches. 2 catches 7 targets today.

4 TD's is obviously impressive for a rookie but it is pretty alarming, Kyler has 33 incompletions on the season and 18 of them are to MHJ!

If Im Drew Petzing. I show Kyler the Stafford/Puka (Kupp) story of how they started meeting every morning to start watching film together. I suggest this because Im not sure Petzing has the answers yet, so he needs Kyler to take the initiative to figure it out. Telling him don't worry about it isn't helping.

Right now they don't see the game the same. And it shows.

CJ Stroud mentioned it in this interview. MHJ catches the ball with his chest. The comparisons to Fitzgerald were absurd. We’ve seen it numerous times this year. Marvin gets two hands on the ball and still doesn’t make the catch. It’s going to be something that he is going to need to work on.

Mushin Muhammad won the reception title with 1405 yards; Tony Gonzalez had the most receptions in the league with 102. Chad Johnson had the most targets with 170 (seven players had 150+ targets).

Harrison is a nice piece to have, but we need a shifty separator to compliment him. Wilson can be a good WR3.

But something DID change with Larry. Todd Haley came in and kicked his ass according to Haley, Warner and even Larry himself. Haley made him realize that he was coasting on natural talent and not doing everything he could do to be the best. That changed in 2007 and he never looked back.
