What is the point then from two plays?
That's indicative of how a lot of Caleb William plays look. Wide open receivers. Very little pressure. He even leaves the pocket when he doesn't have to.

He has a great arm, is very athletic, and has a good feel for the game. But this isn't NFL conditions. He isn't going to have receivers that much better than the DBs, OL that much better than the DL. How will Caleb look in those situations? We don't know.

We know how Maye will look.

I don't think its a fair statement.
Most people just watch the flashy plays.
He makes those kinds of plays sure...like a superstar.

He has ELITE decision making
ELITE pocket awareness and escapability
He can make all the throws and he is an excellent runner.

Example:
Utah game (playoffs). Played against a great defense.
He got injured up 17-3, was under pressure all night, and was sacked 7 times.

That isn't NFL pocket mobility.
This is where I will continue to agree with chopper... Williams breaks the pocket when he doesn't always need to break out of the pocket. My opinion he needs to show that he can stay within the pocket and play within the system that Lincoln Riley is putting in front of him. Some of the complaints that people have had about Kyler Murray with the Cardinals is what you see in Caleb Williams.

A superstar QB at USC losing to Utah is not a flex in any way.

I question why you consider his decision making "elite"? He does have quality mobility and a great arm. No doubt. I just don't see the pocket mechanics, playing within the offensive scheme, and the great decision making.

And the tough part about the eval is Williams looks off the open receiver on the slant (his first read), shuffles about in the pocket, but then will make an amazing splash play. So the end result is better than the slant that was open, and it helps his team win in college, but it doesn't translate to the NFL.

And to be clear, none of this is to insinuate Caleb isn't a fantastic prospect. It's just why some of us think Maye is close or even a better prospect than Caleb.
I want to see Williams take the next step, by hanging in the pocket and working the route tree with his receivers.. hitting guys on post patterns, out patterns, slants.. based on timing.
