Well there is this thing called the salary cap and also...

What's your upgrade bar? Like tackles and sacks per game? Don't cheat by looking up the guys he is replacing
his competition is a few dudes who were happy to be employed on 1 and 2 year deals. his production lead to him being drafted 16th overall. not sure what your hang-up is that you're going SO far out on a limb to write this guy off before he even wears a cardinals helmet

Considering the current head coach of Cardinals and his philosophy that sounds weird. All we have been hearing about defense last 2 seasons is that lack of talent that over achieves due to effort

Half the league busts. Most of it isn't athletic talent it's what's between the ears.

Gannon can't teach effort. You have it or you don't

His production is hilarious. Dude is a one year wonder

If before the draft I told you all we were taking a person with questionable effort who had a single good college season you all would have said "no"

Yes, Chris, that is 100% true and is something I say every year when draft talk comes around. It's a crap shoot. Everyone, I don't care who it is, comes with odds that we can't possibly know.

That said, it isn't like you are unveiling some great revelation here. These things have been said about Nolen for four years. Gannon and Monti are well aware of them and have heard a lot more than you have. They met the kid. And after all that, they took him.

They could well be wrong but it won't be because you knew something and they didn't.

couple few teams unexpectedly went offense

o-line went fast - 3 tackles and booker all gone by #12

this allowed atl (walker) and arizona (nolen) to go bpa - im half surprised because monti already fortified his defensive line - twice - but he didn't trade back - he may have listened to an offer but STILL went with nolen

Lazing his way into 1st team All-American.

If that’s the case then you take a chance on him figuring it out because he could be an All-Pro.

Any other qualms other than your one take? Do you dislike prospects like Abdul Carter for only have one good college season?

Why would you have faith in Ossenfort after last years draft? He made multiple reaches and they all sucked

I get being concerned about motor issues. I’m just hopeful that with the right coaches on D (which I believe in) and mentorship from a guy like Calais, we’ve got a chance to get the most out of this kid and if we do, it’s a home-run.

So, you’ve planted your flag against the pick. Curious who you would you have rather taken there?

Chris’ problem is writes dudes’ careers off after just their 1st season in the league.

Right the Cardinals draft history is unimpeachable.

They draft multiple impact players in round 1 every year and none of it should be questioned.

Most importantly, we should be patient because no rookie in the NFL ever makes an impact.
