It's nice to know we have guys on here who are so much more attuned to our needs than our whole coaching staff.:sarcasm:

You watch him get beat over and over again when playing for the 49ers the past couple years and then come talk to me. I'm not sold on Pro Football Focus' line ranking system, but he was one of the worst ranked over the past few seasons for a reason. You can argue a little on their rankings, but a guy is thought to be that bad for a reason. He is a less talented Darryn Colledge who was crappy last year as well.

Call me an "ignorant fan" all you want, but the facts are that it is never a good idea to assemble a group of less talented and unathletic players to block the most physically freakish players on the field. There is a reason that Sendlein gets his ass whipped when he plays against the Ngatas and Wilforks of the NFL. There is a reason Brandon Keith gets put on his ass when trying to block Mario Williams. In the end, there is a certain amount of physical talent that you have to have, and our offensive line just doesn't have it.

There is a reason we haven't had a Pro Bowl player come from our offensive line since Lomas Brown. Fact.

Wouldn't he be entitled to that criticism based on the Oline play of the last, oh 100 years?

No. In the 70's, the Cards had one of the best offensive lines to ever play in the NFL. The offensive line they had in 98 when we beat Dallas in the playoff game was also pretty good.

I just get tired of the Monday morning quarterbacking that goes on here ocassionally.

Then why aren't they working for a team in the NFL?

Come on 40. You don't really have to snipe at them like that. Some guys really study the game and watch a lot of film. I'm not among them but there are some pretty sharp people on here. I, for one, agree with several of them on their assessments of the line play.

I meant the Cards...clearly, every decision they make is inarguable, because they've been so spot on over the years.

They've been a whole lot better in the past few years and they improve every year. People on here who want to claim it's the SOC aren't being very honest with themselves.

Snyder said Cards talked mostly with him about playing guard because that's where he was last season, but role still TBD.

Yes it was an exaggeration. But per your own observations, they've good line play for 5 years out of the last... oh 35 years

More than Deuce or Hadnot, the OL he reminds me most of (& therefore most expendible) is:

Jeremy Bridges.

Calling a crappy player "a crappy player" is not Monday morning quarterbacking, it's calling it what it is.

That's your perogative, but I get tired of the constant carping and complaining. No matter what the Cards do, some on here will bitch about it. Why don't we wait to see what their plan is instead of critisizing each individual move. We are in the second day of FA for crying out loud and haven't drafted a single person as of yet.

Right, so let's fire the whole coaching staff and hire some of the ASFN board members. That will get us there.

COME ON guys. I want to frequent this board because a lot of you are great and all relevant info gets posted here.

However, some of you guys are acting ridiculous (right now). You are assuming things, such as Snyder will start, and raging on about it as though it is the truth.

I was joking a bit about how this board will be if PM signs with someone else, but now I'm not. I certainly won't come anywhere near here if that happens.

I'm not saying anyone cares about me being here, but why not lighten up a little bit if for no other reason than your own health? Or, alternatively, WAIT for the bad news to actually react to it.

How do you know what their plans are for Snyder? Do you know what other moves they plan to make? Why not give them time to see how this will work out?

Personally I think you're just showing your own frustration with the line play by carping at the people who are carping:)

Someone who calls himself "40 year fan" should be familiar with how well "giving them time" has worked out with this franchise.

I distinctly remember a big 49ers fan on another board I post on frequently saying that the reason their line went to to ____ against Baltimore (when Smith got sacked what, 9 times?) on Thanksgiving was because Snyder was injured and they had a backup in at right guard. Take it for what it's worth.

Could be.:D

It used to be we had to wait for 2 weeks before the Cards got active in FA. Now that they are jumping in with both feet, it would be nice to enjoy a signing for at least a few minutes before someone destroys the good feeling.

According to their board, Snyder is okay, and his backup is unbelievably terrible.

Quit living in the past. I guess some people can never change their perceptions. This team has changed for the better. If you don't believe that, you haven't been paying attention for the past few years.

This all makes sense but:

I still want to know how New Orleans was able to put together their offensive line that developed two all-pros and helped Brees set records for offensive production with a 4th round,4th,5th,7th,UDFA,UDRookie, a 5th and one 2nd round selection.

I would also like to know if teams never let star linemen go how did Tampa Bay just get Carl Nicks?

I'm with Rugby on this offensive line stuff. It seems there are 160 NFL starters on the offensive line and only like 9 of them aren't garbage and every week there's a new worst tackle in the NFL for 2010 or 2011 or whenever. Trying to figure it out is giving me a headache and I can't have any medicine, ,because I'm trying to lose some weight. :(

not on the O-line they haven't been... which I think most people are responding to.
