Adrian Wilson:

Signing bonus of $4.5 spread out over 6 years.

Base Salaries:

2005 2000000.00
2006 2500000.00
2007 3250000.00
2008 4000000.00
2009 4750000.00

Salary Cap Chart Disclaimer:

I am pretty sure not all of it is completly correct but it is pretty close. I am pretty sure the base salaries are all correct but I am not sure on some of the bonuses as I wasnt sure about two tiered stuff and guys who were resigned when they were resigned and how that effected their bonuses. So if anyone thinks something is wrong let me, I tried to make this as correct as possible and plan on making it an every growing and improving list. First I estimated that dead cap space for next year from the cuts we made after june 1st to be about 3 mill. Also It is rumored that the cap for next year will go up by 5.5% jumping from 80.582 mill. to $85,014,010

	        TOTAL $40,331,500	$14,915,500	$58,247,000

TOTAL ESTIMATED CAP SPACE NEXT YEAR WILL BE:	$26,767,010

Now for those of you wondering about, "What about all of the guys we have to resign?"

We have 3 RFA's that will count against the top 51 salary rule if tendered and they are:

Josh McCown - For arguements sake lets just say the McCown gets the highest tender of $1,824,000.
Nathan Poole - If tendered he will get the lowest of $628,000.
Quentin Harris - If Tendered will get the lowest of $628,000.

As for EFA's they will only cost 375K which once FA's are signed wont even count against the top 51 salary rule so I didnt even include them.

Plus I will also add the rookie cap space according to where we will be picking in this years draft which will be estimated at about 5 mill.

So we end up with This estimated amount to spend on FA's:

$26,767,010 - 1,824,000 - 628,000 - 628,000 - 5,000,000 = $18,687,000

Thx. joeshmo......this is a good point of reference. I would recommend that we make this a sticky......people will be asking for this on a continual basis between now and the draft.

Awesome work. What does $18M buy you? I am more familiar with MLB and NBA contract and am still learning about NFL salary structures.

joe,

How did you come up with the 3 mil in dead money figure? That would mean we carried at least 3 mil in dead money this year since only half of accelerated bonus can be deferred to the next season after June 1.

I can't get 6 mil in total remaining bonus from the guys cut after June 1, but maybe I missed something?

Thats a tough question considering what can go on in determining a player's value (how many teams want him, how much they have left, how much potential they have, etc). That said as a point of reference Berry and Macklin cost us roughly $8-10 million last year. Hope that helps

Jackson had a 2.2 mill still owed to him on his deal divided by half is 1.1 dead cap space next year. Kendall still had 3 mill left on his deal which means a 1.5 cap hit next year. Thats 2.6 right there plus I didnt research the others that were cut after June 1st but I do know all others besides the two mentioned had either no or real small signing bonuses so I just rounded off to 3 mill.

Here is an example of last year of our good signings.

Berry, Macklin, Ayanbadejo cost us $8,035,000 last offseason.

Man reading that list makes me understand that we have some really overpaid and some really underpaid guys on this team.

Okay, I had forgotten about Jackson and I thought that Kendall had only two mil in bonus remaining. Is it possible that we chose to not defer some of that and took the hit this season?

Thanks for your work on this!

I made a mistake yes Kendall did have only 2 mill left, but I still rounded up to the 3 mill. from the original 2.1 mill from Kendall and Jackson contracts. but dont forget about Banks, Gilmore, McCaddley, Micheal Young, Damien Anderson, Dennis Johnson, Fisher, Marcus Bell, Steve Bush, Justin Lucas, Preston Parsons, and Barron Tanner. Some of those guys mentioned didnt have signing bonus but most did, didnt feel like looking up. In fact after looking at it that list of post june 1st cuts that 3 mill. number should be higher, but I will just leave it were it is for now.

As for the possibility of not defering that money over 2 years and just taking the cap hit all one year that is not allowed by the NFLPA.

Wonderful job Joe - I think you can take Levar Woods off the list - I believe he's a UFA this offseason - I could be wrong though.

He might be resigned. The coaching staff seemed to like him...more than Ray at least.

Two questions:

1. How much will it cost us to cut Starks. He makes way to much money for a nickel back.

2. How can I can 100 lbs so I can be a left tackle. LT is a big money position.

Does anybody find it funny that Boldin is the 4th highest paid WR behind Fitz, Johnson and Williams.

D. Starks has 2 yrs left. He has a bonus cap hit for 1 mil a yr and a total of 2 mil. His base is 3.6 this year and if we cut him before Jun 05 we save 1.6 mil.
If we cut him after Jun 05 we save 2.6 due to taking 1 mil this yr and 1 mil next yr.

Hope this helps.

Here is a list of who we might cut and there savings.

QB S. King 850k
WR K. Williams 665k
S I. Ohalete 800k
RT A. Clement 600k
(Clement has 3 yrs left at 600 bonus hit per yr. Total is 1.8 mil. His base is 2.4 mil. We would save 600k if we cut him before june).
FB J. Hodgins 1.0 mil
LB R. Thompson 575k

That is just a few who might be let go but remember what we let go we have to replace and will they take the same salary that we are savings above for there position??

Joe, great job. If you have it, adding a column of "signed through" would be helpful.

Reviewing potential cuts,

I don't think Poole gets tagged. He is not Green's type of receiver and with his durability in question, his only hope is to sign a conditional contract. I think some one else will offer him a better deal, though like McCown I seem to value him more than most observers. Harris is a tough call. He has played well on special teams, but had not progressed at safety. My guess is he's gone, but it wouldn't shock me if they tendered him.

On the above list, I think King, Williams, Clement and Thompson are gone. I think Thompson will fetch a draft pick. Surely, Ohalete stays. His price is right and his play has improved week to week. Hodgins is a tough call, but I think he's gone. Ayanbadejo is not a great lead blocker, but Hodgins hadn't shown much even when he was healthy.

I hope Starks stays. I just don't see it if the Cards see him only as a nickel back. I think he's the best cover corner on the team, but clearly Green doesn't see it that way.

Are we going to give Boldin some more money out of this cap space too? If we are going to keep him long term, we may have to come up with some money for him before his current contract is up.

Great minds think alike. I am have already been on it for about a week now. Making an expanded version of how long they are signed through along with what there base salaries will be in those years, along with a column for cap implications if a player is cut before and after june 1st.

Should have the new expanded version after 1 week after the end of the regular season. Rugby should also have some of my stuff in his big end of the year article that he has been working on.

Anyone think we can trade Byrant Johnson for LaMont Jordan or Travis Henry? We need a burner at WR.
