Can we get check on who on ASFN would still deal Amare at this point?

Remember, we had a lot of people wanting him traded in camp, now that his value clearly has risen after multiple double doubles and 20 point games, who wants to deal the 24 year old at this point?

If you are going to deal Amare, now is the time to do it, his value may never be higher, but there is a ton of risk that he does make it back and even exceeds his skill level of 2005.

I would have given him up for Elton Brand, Dirk, etc, but that might look a bit silly right now. I would still have to think about trading him though because the fake cartilage created in microfracture surgery is supposed to wear out in about 4-5 years. This means that he may need another 1.5 year break around the time he is due for a new contract.

Although it would hurt me greatly, I would trade Amare for the rights to Oden after the season and that would be about it. That guy is going to be dominant.

Amare has a bright future he has been really good lately. He reminds me of a young Amare Stoudemire.

But does that apply since the place he had the surgery is in a non weight-bearing part of his knee?

There weren't any real trades though that were worth it.

The biggest was the gasol + a first round pick and that was sort of a toss up before gasol went down.

Now there really isn't anything unless it was something ridiculous like dirk or lebron etc.

In fact I would keep Amare over Dirk at this point because we need the inside dunkage more then the outside shooting.

I don't think the point is whether we need a dunker or a shooter. It's more of whether or not Amare will hold up.

If I knew Amare was going to play like this for the next 5-7 years and would only improve, I'm not trading him for anyone.

But if there is that slow decline after a year or so, you'd have no hesitation about looking to trade him

Who ever wanted to trade Amare? I am pretty sure everyone wanted and currently wants to trade Marion, not Amare.

The Valley so low.
Let's be realistic. I would happily trade Amare for Wade plus Lebron plus Brand. Maybe with a draft pick thrown in from the Knicks, just to get them involved.

I said it before and im sticking by it

I wouldnt trade Amare for any other player in the NBA.

When all is said and done Amare has the skill and drive to become one of the most dominant bigmen in NBA history.

Are you saying all 3 of those players? Because if that's so then anybody would take that for their superstar. That's pretty dumb. However, that trade would and could never happen.

So what it comes down to is, would you trade Amare for any current superstar? I would say no. I would rather have a dominate big man, then a dominant guard or small forward. This is also assuming Amare will get back or close to 100% of his old self.

Taking all the factors into account about the only guy I'd trade Amare for is Dwight Howard. I wouldn't love doing it but that MFS is going to worry me for a long time. Andrew Bynum is the only other one I'd consider... and I'd probably not pull the trigger on it, but I'd have to weigh it for awhile before I said 'no'. (And study lots of tape.)

up to about 10 games ago there was a significant amount of this board who had completely given up on STAT. I could necro the posts but kind of pointless, just take our word for it, there were haters.

I would strongly consider Howard. I don't think that Orlando would do it though.

I said that the Suns should be open to the possibility. But I also said that Gasol + #1 was not enough, even with his possible knee problems.

It's pretty obvious he was joking around on that one!

i dont see why not. Amare had only started playing basketball early in highschool, and by the time he needed his first surgery, he had been playing for maybe 6 years.

if it happened once, it certainly can happen again. but we havent really seen too much evidence that shows that someone like amare will need another microfracture on the same part of the knee. we'll see though.

that being said, i wouldn't trade him for anyone except a top 5er in the league.....and even then there is absolutely no reason to throw him out on the market. it would be like trading him "just because"
