Add Barbosa for Horford in the mix (it works salary wise) and I'm all about that trade....
No doubt , but like you said in the other thread, that would leave Atlanta with nothing in the middle.
I would consider getting J. Smith an instant difference maker in terms of upgrading our interior defensive woes. That would still leave us with defensive holes in our backcourt but hey...we're talking about blowing it up right?
I would follow this trade up with a Nash/Barbosa deal.

Yeah smith is just a guy who can block some shots because he has ridiculous hops. Marion was more or less the same way when it came to that. Heck, Amare can block shots even. No thank you to J. Smith.

What? Smith is no better a defender than Stoudemire, and his attitude is just as poor.
Come on...Smith will at least go after shots in the paint & he's an outstanding shot blocker from the PF. As far as his attitude, well yeah but we're talking about replacing Amare remember?
I think Smith next to Shaq would be an upgrade defensively over Amare/Shaq. Amare doesn't even block shots anymore.
As far as post defense yeah they're both poor.

Josh Smith is exactly what we don't need--why trade a me-first guy who doesn't give a rip about defense for another one?

If we do trade Amare, something like Rip Hamilton/Jason Maxiell would let us continue being a fringe playoff team, but I hope if we start making moves, we blow the whole thing up--dump Nash and Amare and Shaq for expiring contracts, young guys with potential and draft picks. Treading water is the worst thing a franchise can do--if we're not going to compete for a championship, we should compete for Blake Griffin.

I am now for trading Amare. There are some who say that the Suns are in the playoff hunt and this team needs more time. If the Kevin Garnetts of the world can be traded then Amare is not untouchable.

The deal is if we are going to trade Amare we need to do it now, his value will drop because if we trade him in the summer teams will not give up alot for someone who can opt out after the year. This team needs a change we will not be in the playoff hunt much longer.

Deals I like:

PHX - Amare

for

CHI - Hinrich, Gooden, Thomas

or

CHA - Okafor & Felton

or

TOR - Bosh

or

NJ - Carter & Lopez

PHX - Amare & LB

for

MIN - Al Jefferson, Randy Foye & Mike Miller

How about:

Amare Stoudemire

Andrei Kirilenko
Kosta Koufos
1st Rounder

and then:

Steve Nash
Alando Tucker

Raymond Felton
Nazr Mohammed
Sean May
1st Rounder

Kosta and Nazr would allow Shaq to rest back-to-backs... Felton is a younger Point and Andrei is a defender with all-around skills. With the Suns getting two 1st Rounders, YEEHAW! lol

David West is not that good, though he does seem to try a little harder than Amare, at least his latest efforts. Butler is just horrible though.

And that Magic trade makes absolutely 0 sense. Zero.

^^ New Orleans says no. West has a back to the basket game, and that's why they keep him. When the game slows down to half-court sets, they need someone like him. West is a better fit there, and probably close to Amare when it comes to talent.

Talked about this in another thread, just realise it belongs to here.

Noah: #9 pick in Oden class, 6-11, potentially a Chandler/Okafor in near future. I'll start him alongside Shaq right way, but maybe next year.

1st round pick: unprotected. The Bulls is currently #10 worst record, should end the season at about same place.

(I know some of u may disagree, but I believe Noah + #10 pick is fair enough in exchange for Amare. They r the deal maker, followings r just filler.)

Gooden: expiring contract, a solid role player. Start or backup, very good for our front court depth.

Lindsey Hunter: microwave veteran, good for 10 minutes and probably very good for playoff for his experience in Detroit.

Another filler, Sefolosha or whoever else.

We have enough roster space to trade 1 for 4, Or, we can cut loss one of the fillers anyway. It should work.

CHI - Hinrich, Gooden, Thomas

Bleah. Hinrich is nothing special, Gooden has Stoudemire's attitude without his game, and Thomas is useless.

CHA - Okafor & Felton

Felton is okay, but Okafor's turnover rate is just as bad as Stoudemire's, he can't score, and he's always injured.

TOR - Bosh

Toronto declines.

NJ - Carter & Lopez

What the hell do the Suns want with Carter? In addition to everything else, his contract is a cap-killer through 2011. And Lopez is a pure center, which means he would be redundant with O'Neal for the next two years.

PHX - Amare & LB

for

MIN - Al Jefferson, Randy Foye & Mike Miller

Why do the rebuilding Wolves want to trade away their two best young players?

The day Noah becomes half the player Chandler or Okafor are is the day I'm Michael Jordan. That thought alone is a joke. Amare is not going to Chicago for any of that garbage above, let it go.
