my whine, anybody really believe that it's coincidence that Meredith and Gretchen are last and it's "non" elimination, but then the 2nd half the losing couple loses by literally a matter of seconds in a footrace and they're out?

I'm convinced they make that call on the fly and because Gretchen had fallen they felt it made for "good tv" to keep them in the race.

FWIW the ones eliminated deserved to go, guy was a nutjob, and they had such a big lead on the brothers it's their own fault they lost. Guy kept yelling about her driving but he kept MAKING her drive "it's your role, do it and be quiet."

For whatever reason this particular season just seems "staged" to me.

The Rob and Amber thing was a bit weird, even the host gave Rob a "I can't believe you" look when he laughed and said they hadn't stopped to see if the brothers were OK.

Dudes, Rob and Amber should have at least acted like they cared. You know you're ahead of two teams at least (the crashed out guys and the boyfriends) ... roll down your window and ask if they're okay for Pete's sake. Geesh!

I do like watching them though. I think it's funny how Amber never seems to make a decision.

I'm glad Gretchen and Meredith were not eliminated. I don't think it's necessarily staged. I mean, if the crash brothers came in last, they really couldn't have just thrown out another non-elimination round there, right?

I can't wait to see the POW and beauty queen fight next week. "We're the all-American couple" she says. Yeah. We'll see.

I like Joyce and her man. The boyfriends can go at any time. They annoy the hell outta me.

Russ - the non-elimination rounds are determined BEFORE the season - that is one of the rules that keeps it a "Game" show.

And yes, at a minimum, slowing down and shouting "Is everything Ok, etc" would be the decent thing to do.

The boyfriends can get a little annoying, but all the teams can.

Of the teams left, I would rank them:

Brothers
Joyce/Uchena
Boyfriends
Oldies
All-American
Romber

Glad Ray and Deanna lost. Come on - they couldn't out-pound a couple 20+ years old, one that had been injured? Weak.

I know they say that but is it listed anywhere? One of those jump the shark type sites had some thing about it and they implied that some of the past contestants had complained they didn't believe that they really were set in advance they believed that TAR people pulled them out when it made for good tv, ie to save a couple they didn't want eliminated just yet. I think the number of them is clearly set, but I'm not convinced when is. I realize they can't tell peopel today is non elimination or nobody will compete hard, but by the same token not having to tell us makes it easy to pick and choose.

I agree about Ray and Deanna, they blew it falling behind the old couple and the brothers. I'm just saying that IMHO if they'd lost the first show last night, they would have gone home then and TAR would have saved the brothers in the 2nd half.

Or maybe I'm just still mad that Kris didn't win the last season :D

LOL! Yeah. Rob makes me laugh and I think he's smart. That one guy whines too much. I'm sure they're playing the boyfriends' hatred of Romber up. I'd like to know more about them other than they hate Romber.

Well, the Brothers bit it - can't follow directions........

Joyce/Uchena and Meredith/Gretchen - both got to the end, Phil sent back to complete fully the clue..... Meredith drives right by the clue

Lynn/Alex crack me up - seriously didn't know if they would be able to finish the driving task :) But they have bad luck with vehicles.

It's hard to tell since they don't show you the time but did it appear to anybody else that if the brothers don't stop and change into their "swimsuits" to be funny, they might have beaten Gretchen/Meredith to the pitstop? or did CBS just make it appear that way to create drama? They seemed so far behind the whole time it's hard to say but the way they showed the ending they made them appear to be quite close.

it is hard to tell, but they didn't start that far behind, and M/G stopped at the wrong water tower as well, plus missing the clue, so I wouldn't think they were that far behind.

Yeah, it's hard to tell how far apart everyone is, but, man, the swimsuits and knit caps were hysterical.

The boyfriends had some mean things to say this week. Anyone else think it was outta line for one of them to say about Uchena and Joyce "they were born to do this" when they were carrying the stuff on their head. My sis and I just looked at each other like "that might have been the wrong thing to say." Of course, later Uchena mentioned that he had it in his roots so it all works out in the wash. I didn't like it when the boyfriends said that Meredith and Gretchen were dumb, but, in this case they were. Totally missed the clue! So I guess that works out in the wash, too. It WAS cool to see the boyfriends totally shocked when they got there 4th and they had all there clothes on. Good strategy!

I kinda hope Gretchen and Meredith make it to the final three. Why not? I'm amazed they have stayed in this far though! The ex-POW and beauty queen can get booted at any time now.

Not sure exactly what was meant - it could have been admiration (i.e. when someone does a job well, that is a phrase that is sometimes used as a compliment).

And you did note that Uchena did agree - he WAS born to do it :)

At the risk of being shallow how long ago was she a "beauty queen"? She was maybe the 6th best looking woman on the show when it started. Just seems like an odd thing to describe her as but they do. The bio says she was Miss South Carolina in 2002. Just not all that impressed with her at all, and not just looks she just seems to have a bad attitude.

I'm down to wanting Uchena and Joyce to win mainly because the other teams all annoy me and I don't think Rob and Amber need the money.

I'm with you on, well, basically everything you said, Russ. I like Uchena and Joyce. They seem to appreciate things more than the other teams, too. And they're not mean or fighting with each other.

Miss South Carolina is not very nice at all.

I was saying the same thing. I told my wife that if that chick was a beauty queen, then I'm married to Mrs Universe

Mrs. KoC here and I just wanted to say, I don't understand the animosity with Rob and Amber. My husband and I are huge Survivor fans and I hated Rob during his first appearance, but I loved him in all-stars. I neve TAR and probably still wouldn't if Rob and Amber were not on. I love TAR now, but they are the reason we started watching and I hope they do win. I think it would be funny. Also I do not think it is rigged that would just be crazy.

I think that Rob and Amber are running a great race. They work together with just a few minor problems (Amber you need to make a decision once in awhile) and encourage each other which is more than you can say for some of these teams. They are slightly directionally challenged at times but nowhere near as bad as Uchenna and Joyce and I love them.

:) Seriously have we ever seen another team get lost EVERY single challenge? But they seem to always be having fun and that Joyce is one tough cookie for someone who describes herself as high-maintenance.

Mrs. KoC back, I like Uchenna and Joyce, but at the same time find them annoying. I mean I would like them to win so they can finance a way to have children and I fell very bad that they cannot, but they are kind of idiotic at times. I also wonder though how many of the other teams are asking for directions every time they turn around and they just don't show it. I watched this special on reality tv and Rob was on it and said that on Survivor, tribal council takes 2-3 hours and we get to see about 5 minutes, so maybe I am underestimating them and all the teams are asking for directions at a drop of the hat, but I still would think if you buy a map you should not need to ask for directions.

It is amazing how many times they do ask, but you are right - what are they not showing the other teams doing? We know the Meredith and Gretchen get lost all the time too!

Another good episode - and I loved the ending - the look on Romber's face when Phil told them that this was not a pitstop, but a clue, and the leg was not over was priceless.

I do have to give Rob credit for commandeering the Indian worker to guide them - that was smart.

Liked the way Lynn/Alex had the brains to use a cell phone to book tickets to India, thwarting Romber's plans to screw the other three teams.

??? Rob's plan did work. They were the only four to get on the earlier flight. The other six took a later flight that Lynn/Alex booked on the phone.

An earlier flight by 5 minutes - not a big deal. What screwed L/A and M/G was trying to get the cab.
