I'm not sure about Chandler, but the center position is the safest position to upgrade for the Suns. Plumlee and Len would make nice backups for a playoff run.
I like Plumlee, but he is not a domineering Center. Tyson Chandler is. You don't have to wait until every piece is in place to solidify the position. It would also be a perfect situation for Len to develop.
Right now, our Dirk is Dragic from the shooting Point Guard position. With a complementary cast around him. Why wait to move us to the next step? Strength in the post would make it smoother for the rest of the team to move up.

LOL.Hell, by your logic, why don't we just see if Jason Kidd wants to stop coaching and sign him as a PG? He was a hell of a defender too.
LOL.
Why do we need to strengthen the Center position now, whether with a Chandler or Noah? It is not about opinion. It is about fact.
The Plum Dawg spends the last six minutes or more of every game on the bench. He is not a finisher. Len is certainly not ready for that. We need a finisher at Center while the rest of the team continues to blend.
What the hell does that have to do with Jason Kidd?
LOL.

Is your opinion that we don't need a closer at Center now, no matter who that is?It's not just about strengthening the center position now. If Tyson Chandler was walking the streets I'd say sign him up and bring him in. But in addition to possibly slowing Len and Plumlee's development, acquiring him will cost us assets too. We just don't have enough to gain to make the costs bearable.

Well, I thought we were talking about bringing washed-up has-been that was good when Dallas won their title so they can take playing time away from the players who are our future? If we are going to do such a stupid thing, let's do it twice!
A deal along the lines of Okafor's expiring (and insured) contract along with a draft pick) was what I had in mind. Anything more and there's no discussion.

I think Tyson would be an improvement and at the right price I'd make the trade. I just don't think he's a huge improvement.
Have you guys looked at their respective defensive stats?

I wish I could do a table but Plumlee actually has better defensive stats than Chandler right now, including playing 24 extra games. I admit, I haven't seen NY play, but the numbers don't really warrant Chandler over Plum.
While I agree that Chandler is not a major upgrade over Plumlee, those stats are a joke. Robin Lopez and Timofey Mozgov have better defensive stats than Dwight Howard. These stats are meaningless and useless.

While I won't make a case for Lopez and know nothing about Mozgov, I've always thought that Howard is vastly overrated as a defender.
My recent point is that the Suns starting Center is not their closing Center (Jeff's decision) and we have no other post presence ready as we move toward crunch time. This team is just fine except for a superstar. Mess with anything else and it's going backwards. Len might be better than Chandler by next year (Tyson's age and back issues and all)
