This recent success is all new to you guys. And to the one who stated that Steelers fans are mostly bandwagon, i wish i couldve shown you video footage of the turnout of fans in San Diego and Denver over the last few years ive attended games. Even back in 96 here in Tempe. The perfect example of bandwagon is right here in your backyard. Im a Steeler fan right in the belly of all the nonsense. Ive got old women here that havent the slightest idea who LaVoy is. They couldnt even tell who what Larry Centers was or whom Eric Swann was. And you can hear these folks touting the same talkin points over and over......."Its our time........we're shocking the world baby !!!" But when you ask em what happened vs Tavaris Jackson ....."what ? I dunno who that is but we're gonna kick Steeler but.......shock the world".

Its a laugh......huge laugh. So dont even tell me about bandwagon. Remember, if it were for a few choice corporations in this town buying up blocks of tickets that Falcon game wouldnt have been televised locally.

Theres your bandwagon..............ride responsibly.

You have got to be kidding.

Let me take a guess here. You are a 30 something year old guy who has never been to Pittsburgh or within 100 miles of Pitt but they are your favorite team because of their colors and them being on TV all the time when you were young.

Because sadly this is 90% of the Steelers fans I meet. I respect the ones out of Pitt who love the team and the town and are part of the fabric of the NFL.

But the Steelers have more fans of their team who wouldn't know Pramanti Bros from Mario Brothers then any other team in the NFL.

Wait aren't you the guy who reps the Lakers on the Suns board too? LOL You must be one of those SoCal guys who work in the Steel mills right?

And for all those "fair weathered" Phoenix fans who love Lavoy and want to "shock the world"? They are not on this board. The majority of us are the die hards and we are REALLY die hards because we have stayed tough through all this crap.

Grow some balls and quit being fugazi Steeler fan. Your heart belongs to the Cardinals. You just won't know it till next Sunday:thumbup:

The Steeler fans have been mostly nice, condecending in cases but not really that bad.

It's not that I hate anyone, other than Cowboy fans, not even Eagle fans.

It's that I just want my team to win and people who obviously want my team to lose so theirs can win piss me off, that's about the truth of the matter as far as I'm concerned.

I don't really want to debate much or to socialize with them I just want us Cardinal fans to enjoy watching our team win the SuperBowl and only one team can do that, all others by extension become the enemy.

Good stuff conrad.

I have to love the Steelers, their city, their fans, their organization. Hey they lovingly gave us two great coaches (who without I doubt we would be having this converstation).

Love to you all!

Truth of the matter is, anyone who became a fan in the 70's, and stayed a fan through the Mark Malone, Bubby Brister era, isn't a bandwagon fan now! :D

I fall into the category. My first football memory is watching the Steelers play Dallas in teh SB. My father was a Redskins fan so we OF COURSE rooted for the Steelers. He died two years later... when the Steelers went back to teh SB, of course I rooted for the Steelers since they were my biggest football memory of my dad.

Been a Steeler fan ever since. yes, even through Malone and Brister! :mulli:

Visited Pittsburgh for the first time a few years ago, have been back two other times since (costs A LOT of money to fly back there from california). Primantis is good, but honestly, Peppi's is better!!

Fact:

Squeelers fans wouldnt have as big a "fanbase" as they do if they had to play most of their history in 120 degree weather at SDS.

Cold weather's cake.. You get drunk, or wear a jacket.. You cant feel a thing.

Hot weather? Try again.

I had to read this a second time to grasp what a pansy you are.

So you're laughing at old ladies who ont bother to learn the name of every brand new free agent? Are you just jealous that they had the fortitude to stick with their team during rough times and not just run to a winner to try and compensate for their own inferiority complexes and lack of self esteem? So what is it, are you short, fat, bald and ugly, or just hung like a field mouse?

:biglaugh:

MD you crack me up.

Those are some good postseason stats, I hadn't looked any of those up yet really. Some are pretty similar but I didn't realize the Steelers rushing yards allowed stats were that low. They look fairly equal besides that and the TO ratio.

When you look at the reg. season stats though there are some that are pretty close and then others that are glaringly different. My main argument about the difference between the Eagles D and the Steelers D throughout the season is that the Steelers D was far and away more consistent, only having allowed one game where they allowed an offense to gain 300+ yards total (to the Titans after the division was already sealed up and after coming off of a brutal 5 game stretch).

Here are some of the key stats IMO though:

Eagles/Steelers
Points allowed: 289 (18.1 PG)/ 223 (13.9 PG)
Yards per game: 274.3/ 237. 2
Pass yards per game: 182.1/ 159.6
Rush yards per game: 92.2/ 80.2
Yards per play 4.4/ 3.9
Fumbles and fumbles lost: 26(14 lost)/ 22(9 lost)

Oh and I agree with your point about some fans only using the Steelers #1 D as a reason why they think the Steelers are going to win, it becomes a tired argument, even for a Steelers fan. I'm very proud of our defense too, but in no way do I think they are the only reason the Steelers can win this game.

Not to knock either teams D's, but their numbers are both inflated. The Steelers had 6 games this season against top 16 offenses, the Eagles only had 5 Arizona also only had 5 (based on YPG). Additionally, the Steelers got to play the two worst offenses in the league twice in Cinci and Cleveland. Again I am not saying the Steelers D isn't #1, just saying the difference between them and the next 5 isn't as great as it seems.

No you're absolutely right about that...the way I see it though, their D has basically had to carry the lackluster O for the better part of the season...the offense is finally looking better now, but I think Steelers fans put the defense on such a pedestal because without them we'd probably be looking at a very depressing off season ya know.

It's kind of frustrating because last year we had a relatively healthy offense and despite Ben still getting sacked a lot, the Steelers were one of the top scoring offenses in the league, Parker was having one of his best years as well. The defense was constantly injured though and our backups were not prepared like they are this year. It ended up being to much for the team to keep up with at the end of the season.

This year, complete polar opposite, very few injuries on defense and they are performing at a level not seen in decades by any Steelers players and the offense looks like a MASH unit half the time lol. To top everything off for the offense they had to play half of their season against top 10 Ds, they were already in a bit of disarray and they just had to fight and fight to improve each week. I'm proud of them regardless of what happens in the SB. There weren't many who thought the Steelers would go better than 8-8 or 7-9 at the beginning of the year, and midway through the season they were projected to go 9-7 or 10-6...so they've far exceeded many peoples expectations.

I know the Cards have as well, and that's why I like them in this matchup, I like their players, coaches, and the fans seem cool and layed back for the most part.

Every team has it's a-hole fans, we do too! It's just some are more annoying but isn't that part of of the fun for we, the fans?
One can root for any team they want and be considered a 'true' fan with some research and Google skills. I just hope the BBQ keeps going all day on Feb 1st...:D

LaBoy. Way to show off your knowledge:thumbup:. Atleast that explains why you are a bandwagoner. Now I just wanna know why you're so damn sensative about it.

Nah.....that would be you.......huge wagoneer chaser.............im sure the logo or lapel with its NFL authenticity rights is freshly brand new.

But anyways........just pick up a copy of the AZ republic to get a feel just how recent jersey sales have picked up. If you really wanna gauge how bandwagon the Steelernation is, try doin some research. Youll come to find out that the Steelers consistently rank in the top 3 in merchandise sales and have done so for the last several years. Try, now, to explain why, if a team moves so much merchandise (annually), they have bandwagoners ?

And since youre in the business of corrective spelling, its sensItive. :)
And, no.....im not sensitive. Just wanted to point out how grossly incorrect your assessment is of SteelerNation.

Stick with ? One hadnt even the slightest clue who the head coach was.

Anyways you can cut the insults and debate football strategy with X's and O's. But we can get ridiculousy hard edged in a public (forum) if you want. Just let me know now how u want to shake this out. Since, ya know, you got all this Internet courage. Your call..........

Yeah, you can stop flexing your internet muscles. Calling cardsfanmd a bandwagoner is about as idiotic as you can get. Chill, my friend.

Im starting to hate them just about as much as Cowboys fans.

Goodness, these guys are just as big bandwagon hoppers as Dallas fans and they claim that they're not.

:mulli:

LOL!

We have been fans since we were weaned.

Talk about bandwagoners.

You couldn't even sell out a home playoff game.

Too funny!

The Cardinals have not made the playoffs in some time the first game took a few days but sold out. Everyone got it down after that and the second game sold out in six minutes. :D

I have a lot of respect for the Steeler organization, that team and their fans. One of the teams in the league that I feel do football the right way. Nothing to complain about on my end.

And the steeler fans posting here have been great...refreshing and knowledgeable.

I hereby decree that every year the Cardinals and Steelers should play in the Super Bowl.

Except we did sell it out. And have sold out EVERY game in UOP for the past 3 years. For a team that went 5-11, 8-8 and 9-7.

Too Funny! Err...loyal?

No, my intellect is simply numbed by the lack of any kind of culture here in New Castle! Western PA...my home area, but what a BLEH area! ;)

Hahaha, I almost lost my soda to this comment! New Castle is pretty bad (I grew up in Butler, had no trouble leaving and moving south of the city and have never looked back). Western PA in general isn't all bad, but New Castle and Butler are probably a couple of the least cultured towns in the nation lol. Eat 'N Park and the local roller rink are the cultural hot spots of those towns!

Funny how you didn't respond to mine Laker/Steeler fan. LOL.

Still can't get over that. I am sure you have some epic story on why that is. Like maybe you were the kid who tossed Mean Joe Green the coke??LMAO

Tell me do you consider TrophyTown LA or Pittsburgh?

How about those Yankees this year? Excited about that to? You coming here and talking trash to MD and calling him a bandwagoner is a disgrace.

Every team has bandwagonfans. MD doesn't happen to be one and from all I can tell YOU do seem to be one.

But I bet your going to tell me why your not and I'm pretty damn excited to hear it!
