Hahaha, I almost lost my soda to this comment! New Castle is pretty bad (I grew up in Butler, had no trouble leaving and moving south of the city and have never looked back). Western PA in general isn't all bad, but New Castle and Butler are probably a couple of the least cultured towns in the nation lol. Eat 'N Park and the local roller rink are the cultural hot spots of those towns!

Ha! You have betrayed the fact you are NOT from Western PA through the use of the word 'soda'! ;)

Not to knock either teams D's, but their numbers are both inflated. The Steelers had 6 games this season against top 16 offenses, the Eagles only had 5 Arizona also only had 5 (based on YPG). Additionally, the Steelers got to play the two worst offenses in the league twice in Cinci and Cleveland. Again I am not saying the Steelers D isn't #1, just saying the difference between them and the next 5 isn't as great as it seems.

We played the #2 defense three times and won!

And, without looking up stats.. I also believe Pitt played 9 of the top 12 defenses this year ... so maybe our O isn't as bad as the stats say?

It works both ways too... it's not like the teams in the Cards division are offensive and/or defensive juggernauts either... so your stats could be just as inflated.

So what you're saying is...we probably match up pretty well and it'll be a good game? At last, the voice of a Steelers fan with reason! :)

No no, born in Saxonburg, lived in Butler for a time and then went to school at Pitt and have lived in Mt. Pleasant since I was 23. I may say soda instead of pop, but I say y'all instead of yinz too lol. My Dad (though he was born in Pittsburgh) lived most of his life in Virginia and my eldest brother was born and raised in VA, so that may be where I get a few of my sayings from too.

Don't worry though, I still know where Pants n'at is!

Very cool. I was just messin'. I always represent Western PA well and refuse to say soda.

This is absolutely true, Steelers and Cardinals match up very well and it's going to be an incredible game no matter who wins. Both teams have advantages and disadvantages. Both teams are very good and fans on both sides have plenty of reason to be proud of where their respective seasons have gone.

You're a pretty cool Steelers chica! I look for all of the same. Now, try relaying this to that idiot Trophy on the other thread!

Yes, but no one is touting how dominant our D is. OTOH, our offense has performed well almost every game regardless of the level of D we were against.

I made a spreadsheet and looked deeper into the numbers but I can't attach it for some reason.
What can be seen from it: Arizona's D was actually slightly better than average based on their opposition, and Pitt's O was actually slightly better than average as well. If you just take the numbers Pitt still looks like the better team, but AZ is definitely playing better now than they did throughout the season.

Attached is a spreadsheet which makes a little more of the numbers.

I don't see the spreadsheet. Is it a DVOA breakdown from Football Outsiders? If you get the chance, check out their site www.footballoutsiders.com. There's some great statistical analysis on there.

Yea, the upload failed, it is essentially the same thing. Either way the Steelers got slightly more yards than average on offense given their opposition and the Cards allowed slightly fewer yards than average given their opposition. The Cards got around 650 more yards on O, and the Steelers allowed 1100 fewer yards on D.

Nah.....that would be you.......huge wagoneer chaser.............im sure the logo or lapel with its NFL authenticity rights is freshly brand new.

But anyways........just pick up a copy of the AZ republic to get a feel just how recent jersey sales have picked up. If you really wanna gauge how bandwagon the Steelernation is, try doin some research. Youll come to find out that the Steelers consistently rank in the top 3 in merchandise sales and have done so for the last several years. Try, now, to explain why, if a team moves so much merchandise (annually), they have bandwagoners ?

And since youre in the business of corrective spelling, its sensItive. :)
And, no.....im not sensitive. Just wanted to point out how grossly incorrect your assessment is of SteelerNation.
Bandwagoners are *****. No self respect, sense of pride or stength/perserverence so any cute team can have them. Whether it's due to their "Daddy issues" or not is debatable.

The Steelers may have your heart right now, but the Cardinals are gonna have that @$$ next Sunday.

No one has to say anything about our Defense! LOL #1.

Ok, but seriously, the point I was making is that a lot of what I've heard is how bad our O sucks, and how awesome yours is (which it is very good-not saying that). On paper, yes I believe the Steelers may be better numbers wise, but the numbers don't play the gamesl the guys do, and it's all about the matchup on that day at that time. .

Steelers have had a very tough schedule; including our division foes; because we all know that no matter how bad your division mates may suck, you can throw the records out when you play each other, because you're used to each other. Anyway, with such a tough schedule we still managed to pull out 12 wins. Our O may not have been expliosive, but Ben and the guys knew how to get it done when needed.

As far as this game is concerned coming up, I agree it's gonna be a great matchup. I can't wait to see it, and of course I hope my black and gold come out victorious!

Great post. It's amazing how night and day the differences are between real Steeler fans and uninformed bandwagon posers like Trophyclown.

Thanks, you guys are pretty cool for the most part as well, both here and on the Steelers board. I think a few trolls are to be expected on both sides as well though, I can only imagine what the boards are going to look like by Thursday...it's going to be like a smack talk war field I think lol.

I know a guy that is Redskin's fan. He grew up in that area and started following them as a kid. But he has lived in Arizona the past three years and during that time cheered for the Cardinals, except for against the Redskins.

So today he was wearing a Steelers shirt! :mulli:

The Cardinals are the biggest bandwagon team in the History of the NFL.
We have the biggest Fan Base in Sports. As decided a million times by every magazine you can pick up. Last year nobody gave 2 ***** about your second rate team.

9-7 in the worst division in Football. You guys showed how much heart you had when you laid down against the Patriots. That was a disgrace to football your team should be embarassed. Nobody gave 2 ***** about the Cardinals last year. And nobody will give 2 ***** about them next year. Good luck on those Playoff Ticket Extension's. Good thing business stepped in or non of you would even have go to watch you almost blow the biggest lead in playoff history. Wow go out and support your team. You are pathetic Fans.

First of all this is the wrong place to be calling people sunshine fans, most of the locals ive seen post on here have been around for YEARS, and have had season tickets for over 10 - 15 years some even longer.... this IS where the diehards make their home.

and really, the regular season doesnt matter...lets talk about the post season where we beat the panthers whom were supposed to go deep in the playoffs.. the eagles who were the hottest team comming into the p/o, most sports anyalysts even touting them as a lock for the SB.. oh and they knocked off the super bowl champions. who did you guys play, the hurt and overrated charges and baltimore freakin no offense ravens. you guys had the easiest walk to the SB while we had the hardest.

and once we beat you guys again (like last year) this will be known as one of the greatest super bowl runs EVER.

Agreed, the Eagles fans and Hepcat were much more annoying than any of the Steeler fans I have seen post here. That isn't to say there aren't numerous Steeler idiots out there, they just haven't bothered to post here.

We weren't all bad, w-w-w-were we? :(
