I heard a radio host late afternoon say Leinart was going to be on at 5:30 pm. I can't remember if it was Gambo and Ash or Jurecki's show. Anyone catch the interview? I haven't seen anyone post about it here or on the official forum

its on the KTAR sports front page

I have listened to it -- and its worth listening to -- but I didn't get the vibe from Matt that Dave Burns did.

Any great revelations like his last interview?

What vibe did Dave Bruns get? For some reason when I hear him talk he just doesnt sound like a confindent QB to me or a leader. Maybe just me...

It's not just you.. Every time Warner took a hard hit last year, and the camera's pan to the backup (as they always do) I saw someone with fear in his eye's, not the "Alright, time to go in and kick some ass" look that you hope to see.

He definitely had fire in his eyes when he went in for Warner against the Saints. He looked like the Leinart of his rookie year. A good sign in my eyes.

I turned it off before Leinart came in for that game.. My TV was at considerable risk if I left it on any longer :(

Burns says that it sounded as though Leinart knows Warner is retiring but is not allowed to say it.

ridiculous. Are we going to start trying to read body language again? It was ridiculous when Mitch was trying to read and interpret Boldin's body language 2 years ago and it's ridiculous now. What you saw as "fear" someone else could see as calm confidence.

I didn't hear anything in that interview that has me worried. He sounds like a humble guy who knows that he cannot be Kurt and has accepted his role while continuing to work hard and be ready for his chance.

I like his attitude...

.

I agree I hear anything that alarmed me.

I think if Leinart is the starter come next season a huge Gorilla will be off his back because Warner will not be here looking over his shoulder. Matt has 1 year to prove to the Cards if he is/isn't the QB beyond 2010.

Yes, because fear and confidence are easily mistaken. lol

That's the impression I got.

Don't buy it. Even if is "sounds like it" If Warner knows hes retiring I think he would just come out and say it. I certainly don't believe he would tell someone like Matt and then ask him to keep it under his hat. That's some big news for someone to hold onto and not expect them to slip.

If Warner says he hasent made a decision and needs time to think it over I believe him.

+1

Don't see how Leinart could possibly know what decision Warner has made if Warner hasn't made it yet. It's still too soon.

There is no benefit to any party involved (Warner or the Cards) for him to have made a decision but then hold off on announcing it. There are actions the team has to take that are dependant on whether he will be back or not. They can't move forward until his choice is made public and they're not going to wait a while after making that choice. No need to.

Besides, Kurt is a man of faith, who lives his life on the principles of integrity and honesty. If he says he hasn't made up his mind yet, then I believe him.

Baseless speculation like this is probably one of the reasons that Dave Burns got fired from the radio.....er, I mean "promoted" to the web page...

At best Matt may know which way Kurt is leaning, even though he hasn't made his final decision. Kurt could have mumbled something like "Man, I'm to old to take hits like that" during the Saints game. Matt hears, "That's it. I'm done."

It could be more than that.

Players at the same position work together and sometimes are close.

Kurt could have been telling Matt from the start of training camp that he wanted to make one last good run at it.

I don't know if he "knows Knows" or if he has a pretty good inkling, or he doesn't know anything, but it wouldn't surprise me if he knows a lot more than any of us on this board. ;)

I think that you are right on this. I think Matt knows that Kurt wants to retire. However the competitive nature in Warner is the demon that he is fighting against on making this decision.

I think it just comes down to the decision of whether he still wants to compete at the highest level of competition and whether the FO is willing to field the team to do so.

Is the FO in an uncapped year willing to keep the team (outside of Dansby) intact to go forward and compete at it's greatest capability or does it want to retool too much. Who it reworks and who they go after in FA may have something to do with how much Kurt wishes to play one more go. The chance to win it all, one more time.
