Correct me if I'm wrong but thay only have one draft pick signed .. right?

2 - McCoy and Mitchell have signed

Elton Brown, Daryl Blackstock, and Eric Green will be in camp on time, period.

As for Rolle and JJ. Once Smith is signed by the 49ers the ball should drop and things should really get moving. But I see Rolle missing no more then a week of camp, and JJ missing a few days. For this year that might actually be ahead of the pack.

I'm not concered about it. They miss a week at the most.

Anyone heard anything about Smith's deal?

Rumor is they will get a deal done a few days before their camp starts.

Troy Williamson is apparently in final stage negotaitions with the Vikings. If this is so, he was drafted one spot earlier than Antrel Rolle, so this might be a big help in coming to terms with him. Last year DeAngelo Hall (CB) was taken at #8 so a framework does exist for a Rolle deal......irrespective of the fact that we are going to have to spread any SB over only a five versus six year period as per the CBA. This shouldn't be too much of a biggie IMO.

Similarily, Julius Jones (RB) was picked by Dallas at #43 last year so there is a framework here as well regarding suitable parameters for a potential deal with JJ Arrington who we picked at #44.

Regarding Green, Blackstock and Brown........unless someone really drops the ball, we should have them signed without any problems.

I think we will have everyone in on time.

Do you mean - "Can any of us forecast the future?" Umm...no!

You can rely on past patterns of behavior by various NFL teams, but each year brings with it a different set of factors.

Logically, we could expect to see our 2nd and 3rd round picks signed within days of the opening of camp, with the signing date of our #1 kind of unpredictable and dependant on what other teams do.

But I know I view Arrington talentwise as kind of a "super 2nd rounder" (i.e. a really, really late 1st rounder). If he and his agent see it the same way, he may be tougher to sign than, say, a KVB or a Dansby.

And then there's the "Denny Factor" - he and his staff seem to have finally sold his players on the "importance of team" and the need to be on the practice field. This might get our top three or four guys in earlier than otherwise.

In years past I worried about this. Will they sign in time for camp and then get pissed off that they let it go to long, because not being flexable with bells, whistles and crayons. This year I'm going to relax and enjoy the ride. They will all be in camp. They will all have enough time to get ready.

It's been the Cards MO the last couple of years with Graves and his team to get these kids in and he has done a pretty good job of it.JJ, Rolle and the rest want to be here. Remember the Wadsworth deal. Signed on a Saturday and played regular season game one on Sunday, got hurt and never was the same guy we drafted after that. Those kinds of things could happen again but most likely want.

Jeff,

I can't see how Arrington or his agent will be able to misconstrue the #44 positioning. I don't remember one draft publication that had him as a 1st round pick (or even a late late 1st rounder).

The Colts signed their 3rd rounder last night.....Vincent Burns. He was the #92 pick.

Blackstock was the #96.....we are getting closer to having solid reference points to work from.

Another domino falls: Dominique Foxworth, the #97 overall pick by Denver has signed his contract. Terms are not official but it appears he signed a three year deal worth $1.35 MM including a SB of $430k. Blackstock was the pick just in front of him.

Things seem to be moving slowly with signing draft picks for all teams. Maybe the late start to the season has something to do with it.

Progress continues.....Oakland signs Andrew Walter (their 3rd rounder, #69 overall) and Detroit sign Stanley Wilson (their 3rd rounder and the #72 overall). Eric Green's slotting should becoming clearer.

I saw one with the Eagles taking him at #31, but that was it.

Carolina just announced that Evan Mathis (G), their 3rd round pick (#79 overall) has agreed to terms.

Now we are getting Green as well as Blackstock totally surrounded slotting wise.

Darren Urban wrote in the Tribune today that deals are close with every pick except Rolle. And, that everyone but Rolle should be signed by the end of the week.

Read that. As per Cardinal style a few of them are probably already under contract but we will announce them all at the same time. We tend to like to anounce signings in bulk.
