Are we over-reacting or is QB a problem?

DA looked alright against the Rams, and miserable against the Falcons......we've only played 2 games, yet on this board, fans are already looking towards his replacement and beyond (myself included). Are we over-reacting or is there a significant problem that should be addressed for our future?

He didn't look alright against the Rams. He looked like Derek Anderson. In both games.

22/41, 297 yards and a TD with an 85.1 QB rating is alright in my books.

We have been really spoiled, Anderson isn't the answer. Neither are the 2 back-ups. I think we are going to be the Cardinals of old and are going to have one of those 7-9 or 5-11 seasons. Too many changes to be effective.

Yeah not sure which game you thought he looked alright in? If the rams weren't so bad they would have had some picks on us as well. This season was doomed the minute whiz decided to hitch the wagon to this loser as starting qb! Leinart got screwed and he will now prove to be a better qb than da only problem is it won't be here...stupid whiz just a terrible decision!

The key will be how we do against the Raiders in our home opener. We need to win this game and DA do well. It definitely is a winnable game.

QB is a huge problem but the defense is an even bigger problem. Put Peyton Manning back there and we might still lose.

Vegas, baby, yeah!
I personally thought DA looked bad in both games. Horrible mechanics. Under / overthrowing receivers. Badly inconstant.

Is Hall the answer? Other than an knee jerk one, no - not as of this moment.

Anderson - we're stuck with him for the year, unless someone of some value suddenly gets cut for no apparent reason (which won't happen).

I you look at just numbers then you will be mislead alot. He looks horrible most of the time against the rams and looked ALRIGHT sometimes. Today he looked horrible. He had all the time he needed to throw and did nothing but stare down WR's and then over thrown or under throw them. He is exactly who he has been the last few years. Why anyone expected different is beyond logic.

QB is a problem in that we don't have a good one on the roster unless you somehow think that Max Hall or John Skelton are going to become good quarterbacks--against the odds.

QB is not a problem in that we don't need to go and find a starting quarterback right now, the way that some people suggest. Derek Anderson might be the worst starting quarterback in the NFL right now (I think the Bills would have to think about it and call us back if we offered to trade him for Trent Edwards straight-up), but it's not like an answer is out there on the waiver wire.

You can't put this loss squarely on the defense when your pathetic qb can't keep our offense on the field. The d slowly got wore down by being on the damn field all day long. If your offense can score and give the freaking d a rest they would do alot better and maybe play with some heart. As it was this team will lose faith quickly in this clown whiz decided WON the job lol what a joke!

If you had to pick then, rebuild and make our defense dominant? Or try and build a better QB?

Would a healthy Beanie take some pressure off of Anderson?

I'm getting ahead of myself, but are there any "can't miss" QB's in next year's draft?

I didn't notice the QB commiting the penalties that cost us first downs. I did see him getting knocked around like a pinata and still getting back to his feet to keep playing. Did anyone else notice that play where all Dray had to do was chip the LB coming at the QB and he whiffed entirely. DA about had his head torn off. Same thing for Keith. 2 or 3 times, he completely whiffed on his block and allowed the guy a straight shot at our QB. I don't know of any QB who could play well under those circumstances.

We didn't run a play inside the Falcons' 35 or convert a third down. It wasn't all Anderson's fault, but he definitely played a large part.

Are there ever?

With so many possible defections to free agency (should it happen)--Breaston, Lutui, Faneca (maybe), Branch, Watson, Hayes, to name several--I don't think we'll move up in the draft to get a QB.

I'd much rather get a pass rusher with the high pick we'll almost certainly earn and then see if we can get a Chad Henne type in the second round.
