Uh yeah, you can cut players but unless an extension is paid up front cutting a player under contract usually involves the creation of "dead cap space" when it could have been avoided by simply letting the contract expire. Worse case he became a FA and ARZ could re-sign him if necessary....it's not like another team would being willing to outbid us for him.

Have you seen the other QBs out there in the NFL?
I agree with your post , but if Palmer throws it away every time he is threatened with a sack , I fear that would lead to a lot of three and out's and lots of losses !!!!

Yeah, he would have had maybe 10 passes or so actually go to receivers in the last game if he threw it away every time he was threatened with a sack.

Carson is athletically capable of taking a team to the Super Bowl, but his Achilles Heel is losing his focus and doing something really dumb 2 or 3 times a game.

We can't win that way, and he can't keep doing this.

In the end, those miscues are as much a part of his make-up as his ability to thread the needle.

Total Deal: He's not playing good enough. (The good news is that, under the right circumstances - he can).

PS - A case can be made that his protection sucks, but a key reason for this is that he digs himself a hole, has to throw his way out of it and becomes a sitting duck for pass rushers.

Not sure if you are being sarcastic but Palmer is 26th in the NFL in QB rating (ironically 1 spot above Cam Newton) so not sure if you are trying to say there are a lot of QB's in the league worse than him..there aren't this year. He is 5th in the NFL in INT's and 2nd in sacks.

So you and Jim Otis would rather him throw and INT or lose yardage (and lose a down in the process) with a sack rather than just lose a down? Doesn't make a lot of sense.

I wasn't being sarcastic. The QB situation in the league is so frigging desperate that guys like Josh McCown get jobs every year. Hell, it's SO BAD at QB, McCown might play as long as George Blanda at this rate.

You can't win making only safe throws. Of course no one wants a pick, but the WRs just don't get WIDE open enough to play like that. Especially with how bad our pass protection has been.

Bad protection or not Palmer is good for bad bad decisions on a regular basis.
