I don't have a link but they had a sound bite of the Coach on 620 this morning. (Paraphrasing) They asked what his biggest disappointment was and he said "The defense. They didn't start playing their game until later in the game. You can't spot a team like Seattle 14 points and then play better later in the game"
I agree with BA here. I expected the offense to be crap. I didn't expect the defense to be crappy for the first part of the game. So the defense is a bigger disappointment.

If this is true then he needs to be asked shouldn't the same thing be said about the offense and turning the ball over early in the game and its inability to get a first down if its greater than 10 yards. IF he really made this comment after the defense bailed out the offense last week holding the 49ers to 2 FGs then I have lost any and all respect I may have had for him.

Right now with every game Arians looks more and more like Charlie Weis after a crash diet. Just refuses to admit that the offense is the problem, I'm a genius if guys will just listen to me and execute this offense will explode.

He's got a crappy OL, that he defended in the offseason, a turnover prone QB, and he's saying the defense was disappointing?

Until a quote can be provided where arians says I blame this on the D, the thread title should be changed IMO.

He said it.. He is unable to acknowledge his offense sucks.. He is finding other reasons..

someone saying they heard something on the radio isnt really a quote that the D lost this game for us.

Im all for it if hes out there saying that.

Ive read every article since the game by AZ and none say that. I see him saying the team was sluggish and played poor at the beginning, thats the closest I can find.

Here is the post game interview and probably to what they are referring. I am not buying him throwing the defense out at the expense of the offense. They focused on starting fast defensively during the short week and instead came out flat and mistake prone - he has every right to call him on this, especially the blown coverage leading to the Rice TD. He calls out the running game and protection as well and mentions that switching QBs is a possibility if the decision making is poor.

I fail to understand (and this isn't directed to you, more a general comment) how so many of us want to chastise BA on his first season with a new team and a QB that is clearly not in his prime, an OLine without a strength and a mediocre roster. I watched the most of the game, I don't remember screaming about the play calls - I do remember yelling at Carson, dropped catches, missed blocking assignments and our 'safeties'. What is a coach supposed to say after that performance and when the other team is clearly better in terms of talent?

+1

Holes everywhere.

Best halftime adjustments we have seen in AZ. Good gameplanning, etc.

I feel good about the direction. We SUCK at OL, OLB, safety and its hard to cover up those glaring weaknesses.

If you told me I could build an OL from scratch I would not take on any of the 6 guys who played last night.

So it is me or does Lyle S get more of a free pass than any Cardinal ever? I guess he stays healthy...

He probably does 2 things really, really well:
- Pass the ball to the QB through his legs
- Point to the defense and yell out things that all the other linemen can hear

After that, apparently he tries to stay out of the way of the others.

I wouldnt be surprised if his days are numbered BUT - he may be the best of the 6 last night and that is saying something.

Sowell might be the best of the 6 last night, and that is saying a lot. In a bad way. :)

I get it, you hated arians from day one and everything will be squarely on him no matter what. Thats ok, I just dont see it.

I bought into Arians to start the season.. Or at least I gave him a fair shot.. But sadly he is turning out to be worse than what I originally thought.. I'm not some dude hoping we lose so I can tell everyone I told you so.. I want to win.. And so far Arians isn't that guy..

I guess I'm just wondering where you're seeing a team making the best halftime adjustments since they've been in Arizona. Maybe you're referring to the Detroit game...but I'm not sure Bush's injury taking him out of the second half and their struggles after can be attributed to adjustments. And I've yet to really see much of any offensive adjustments in any of these games. And whatever Adjustments they've made in their three litmus test games, ended with 24, 12 and 18 point losses.

Its cool though, you can think that way, I have no qualms.

But again - our games have been decently coached - coaching hasnt really been our problem. If the WRs are still running their 5 yard route by the time palmer is hit he has no one to throw it to.

I see lots of good things happening, just poor play by a mediocre roster. Our D is stellar beyond powers and Bell but the offense just has no talent after the 3 WR and ellington.

Our 3 wins we were losing at half time.

Each game we seem to play better in the second half.

I am used to coming out strong and then in the 2nd half just having a 100% pure meltdown. It seems to have turned around. That can be fixed.

Every single game we had threads about qhiz not changing anything and adjusting at halftime, I have seen it this year.

The play calling seems better too, its just an OL jailbreak and not much to do about that.

Offensive adjustment, I dont know what you adjust to, they are screwed. The D seems to play well in first half and even better in each 2nd half though.

I don't care what Arians said. I watched a defense sack Wilson and force 2 fumbles deep in Seattle territory and prevent the 'Hawks from converting a 4th & 1.

I do think it's a high risk/high reward defense who'll get burned or fooled once for every 2 big plays they make. The TD pass off the roll-out in the 1Q hurt us and, to that extent, was "disappointing", but over the entire game, our defense can best be described as heroic.

By contrast (other. than that 4Q short-pass dominated TD drive and converting that first turnover deep in Seahawk territory), our offensive output was close to non-existent. We can't win with it as it now stands.

Quick way to lose a locker room by criticizing the unit that pretty much has been carrying your team. This is all on Arians. He could have addressed the OT situation by going after Brendan Albert or Eugene Monroe but he defended Levi only to jettison him 4 games into the season. Granted Cooper was a huge loss but its the HC's job to make adjustments and he just hasn't done it. Boy, Andy Reid going to KC really stings.

I typed what I heard. Whether it was edited or not, it's not the same bite in the video bartman posted.
